The BMW German based automaker launched the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer lineup just a month ago and right now the company is expanding the engines, adding two diesel units with three- and four-cylinders.

Additionally, BMW will also launch a four-cylinder petrol unit that would make the Active Tourer more fuel efficient.

All the engines will be equipped with the BMW`s newest edition of the TwinPower Turbo Technology, becoming thus more powerful but more fuel efficient.

Talking about fuel efficiency, we might be talking first about the BMW 220i Active Tourer, equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit, coming with a combined 6.1-5.9l/100 km, while the CO2 emissions stands between 142-137 g/km.

The BMW 220d Active Tourer, sporting a more powerful 2.0–liter four-cylinder, will be more efficient and more economical, meaning a 4.5-4.4l/100 km, with combined CO2 emissions of 119-115 g/km.

Eventually, the BMW 216d Active Tourer will be the most fuel efficient for its 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel unit, reaching out a fuel consumption of just 3.9-3.8l/100 km, with CO2 emissions standing between 104-99 g/km.

We have new information regarding the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer with M Sport Package. The BMW Active Tourer has been put to some slight modifications here and there lately, as it will now receive an M Sport kit.

The four-door model with front-drive wheels Active Tourer will bring a different approach to what used to represent, as the M Sport kit is really unique.

The M Sport kit first gives the Active Tourer a more aggressive aero kit, retuned suspension, a blacked-out grille and 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.

More than that, the M Sport also brings fresh tweaks inside the BMW Active Tourer. By fresh tweaks I mean sports seats all trimmed in blue-stitched Alcantara.

On top of all features, stands the great paint job that fully wraps the Tourer in an Estoril Blue color, making it the perfect family vehicle.

The top of the line 225i Active Tourer comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that develops 231 horsepower.

The other version, the 218i Active Tourer sports a smaller 1.5-liter triple engine with a rough136 ponies. THe diesel 218d four-cylinder will be soon render.

Along with the development of the BMW`s front-wheel drive based on Concept Active Courier, the compact MPV was expected to arrive under the badge of a 1-Series.

But the BMW`s compact MPV was just spotted wearing a 225i badge, which is a confirmed statement that the vehicle will arrive under the new 2-Series range.

A senior manager at BMW has let word that the decision was made due to the fact that the compact MPV is significantly bigger that the present 1-Series hatchback sold in the U.S., and it that it will cost more.

So, the full name of the compact MPV would be BMW 2-Series Active Tourer. To confuse us even worse, there was also a seven-seat version in works, to bear the name 2-Series Gran Coupe.

But we will be able to find out more about this confusing news, as the new compact MPV is preparing its grand debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, early this March. Sales are expected to hit the US market in the first part of 2015.

You probably heard about the “abomination” that will take its place among both new and old BMW models.

I am talking about the first ever front wheel drive Bimmer, which derives from the 2 Series and makes a lot of fans unhappy.

Bearing the internal code F45, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will make its official debut this year at the Geneva Motor Show, or so an insider source claims. While I suspect the majority of BMW fans won’t get on board with the Active Tourer, both because of the drive system but also because of its aspect, there will still be a select few that awaited something like this from BMW for a long time.

For the US market, some versions were also outlined, like a 220i and 225i, with the xDrive counterparts to be released at a later date. Maybe the four wheel drive will smooth things out for this model. One final tidbit of information points toward a hybrid version of the F45 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, but other than it’s being made, we know nothing.

BMW’s Active Tourer is a vehicle that strays a bit from the beaten path, and recently the Bavarian car maker has been expanding its range quite rapidly.

But, unlike the clean i3 or i8 or even the 2 Series and 4 Series, the Active Tourer managed to get mostly frowns and disbelief when it was first announced.

The reason behind the reaction was the simple fact that the Active Tourer is to be BMW’s first ever FWD vehicle, and traditionalists really don’t like that. In fact, the reaction was so overwhelming, that most media concentrated on this single feature and forgot that this will still be a Bimmer (arguably) and it will be an awesome machine.

Using this year’s Los Angeles Motor Show, BMW officials took the time to announce that the US will see the Active Tourer as soon as 2015. Whether this model will be received with open arms remains to be seen. BMW also announced that while the Active Tourer might be first FWD model they build, it will not be the last, with the company determined to push into this segment of the market.
