Saab have only just gotten through the suffering of bankruptcy, missing out on a couple of chances at being saved and ultimately living on as a spare parts division.

They may still live on through their cars and the charm they have but Saab autos is in for an unpleasant notice very soon as the remainder of the company is being sued.

The folks filing the lawsuit are the Bavarians at BMW. As much as we love them, it’s not the happiest moment to be talking about them.

Trouble is, BMW have to do this otherwise they miss out on quite a bit of money. According to the lawyer bunch, BMW has a 2.6 million euro receipt with Saab’s name on it.

That’s roughly 3.2 million dollars and it’s supposed to be a bill for several parts BMW have supplied Saab with recently but which they weren’t paid for.

All of those parts are actually engines, four cylinder units, that Saab used to place in their 9-3 range of small sedans.

From here on, things get a little bit weird as when Saab went bankrupt, they were worth some 500 million dollars while their debt went up to nearly four times.

BMW’s parts bill is included in that huge chunk but the lawsuit can still be applied to the remaining bit of the Saab business as, ironically, they’re responsible for spare parts.

Meanwhile, Saab’s former owner, Spyker, also has a lawsuit to settle with General Motors for this bankruptcy on which they’re supposed to cash in some 3 billion USD.

It will be interesting to see just which of these lawsuits will go through and who’ll get their money back.

When the Geneva Motor Show opens up, the BMW stand there will feature more than the recently unveiled F12/F13 M6 or the xDrive28i X3. It will actually include more than cars.

One pretty important display space will be granted by BMW to their special M Division. They will be displaying the new M Performance diesel lineup and a few other things as well.

It’s those “other” things that we’re interested in since they are the BMW M Performance Parts. Basically, they stand at the heart of any great BMW’s lovely driveability.

This is a special occasion since it’s the first time in the Bavarian company’s history that you can buy actual performance upgrades from your dealer and not just M Sport look packs.

The M Performance parts bin lineup includes exhausts, suspension components, brakes, carbon fiber aero bits, M Performance steering wheels and shifters, stainless steel pedals and a few new wheel sets as well.

All these parts will, upon debut anyway, be available for the F10 BMW 5 Series, the F20 BMW 1 Series and the newly introduced F30 BMW 3 Series. As BMW expands its refreshed product line, the M Performance Parts will be available on more products.

For all the tuning/afertmarket bits available from the M Division it’s pretty safe to assume that plenty will go for the extra horsepower option. The difference it makes is noticeable, the 2.0 liter diesels for example will be going from 185 horsepower to around 200.

The petrol-powered cars should get an even more considerable boost which doesn’t exactly counter my point about the M Performance Parts.

The latest model, the quickest, the finest, whatever else you may want from the newest BMW you can have that in just about any town during regular business hours.

However, if you’ve been bit by the nostalgia bug, you’ll find that getting spare parts for older models is a little bit tricky. We’re not talking one or two generations behind but the origins of BMW.

The Bavarians have thought of this and decided to set up an online store where you can get original parts for whatever classic BMW you have. You can even get spares for a classic motorcycle.

This new shop is available only in Germany right now and can be accessed through two portals, be it the English one or the German one for their homeland.

Expansion of part availability throughout Europe will happen sometime in April of this year. It seems that this spring is something to look forward to if you have a classic BMW in your garage.

BMW didn’t say anything about North American availability any time soon but we’re guessing it’s not going to be too much trouble to make it happen.

Before anything, you’ll need to register at these shops so you can view the full classic part catalog and that sounds like a pain.

It is worthwhile though, BMW will not only make the parts needed, but also inspect every one of them before delivery.

At this time, the BMW Classic part catalog includes 35.000 items and can help owners of any vintage bimmer built between 1960 and 1990.
