There are two models from BMW that have market its entire evolution for good, and these “bastards” are no other than the legendary E93 M5 vs. E46 M3. The video below also puts the two of them face-to-face in an interesting comparison, with both models packing supercharged kits.

These two models have indeed influenced the future generation BMW models, coming at that time with the best technology available and the sheer performance that made them outstanding models.

And the best part of these two models is that their performance can be easily upgraded. So stop complaining about their lack of performance and instead try to appreciate the engineering that made them a benchmark in the auto industry.

In the video below, Vehicle Virgins have put them “head to head” and tried to find out what made them so special – or not – back in the old days.

The cars` main highlight is the similar power they come with, even if their supercharged kits are quite different, meaning an S52 against an S54.

The E39 BMW M5 comes in this case with an ESS VT-560 kit, capable of 550 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque, while the E46 M3`s VF570 kit packs 570 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque.

The E39 BMW M5 is perhaps the most iconic and best ever built M5 model of all times, coming with an extraordinary design, space inside and sheer power, and what better way to portrait it than seeing it in a 30 minute footage!.

The guys from BMWBLOG magazine were kind enough to provide us with a video which pays a tribute to the legendary E39 BMW M5, which first saw the daylight back in 1998. Ever since, the M5 has been the real ambassador of those BMW petrol heads who wanted the best Bavarian model.

Seen in the most exquisite auto shows worldwide or snapshotted on the Ring while running in drag races against other models, the E39 BMW M5 has been the sheer display of power and agility, and that against its massive weigh of 4.026 lb.

Under the hood, the E39 BMW M5 used to come equipped with a 4.9-liter engine, which would output 400 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, and that with a limited-slip differential and the first ever developed six-speed manual transmission. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h was done in a whopping 4.7 seconds, which for the 1998s was indeed something amazing.

The BMW M5 has been one of the most iconic BMW models worldwide which has impressed its fans with a hand-made body style and extreme performance under the hood. And recently, seven versions of the legendary M5 will be available for sale at the Classis Car Auctions, starting the 6th of June. But what are the M5 variants involved here?

E28 BMW M5

The E28 BMW is the first one to see the daylights and this red one is a special edition, while the M235i is the genuine sports car that everybody is looking for when going at an auto saloon or action. A true example of power set free almost forty years ago, the red M5 is fitted with a 3.5-liter calve DOHC inline six engine, also seen on the former M1. This means a 282 horsepower boost, which makes it the most wanted one.

E34 BMW M5

The E34 BMW would be our next victim, the model coming in the sedan and touring versions, both being built by hand, just like the E28 and receiving a 3.8-liter inline-six, with 335 horsepower. On the other hand, the M5 all dressed up in the Macao blue metallic paint has received the 3.6-liter, with 311 horsepower boost.

E39 BMW M5

As time passes, BMW M5 has evolved as well, making its way out with the E39 version, being built with the aluminum suspension. And this Imola Red E39 is also an exceptional one, being powered by a 4.9-liter V8 unit, with 394 horsepower.

E60 BMW M5 25th Anniversary

The E60 BMW M5 25th anniversary is the latest star to be auctioned, the model being the limited edition that celebrates 25 years of the M5`s existence.

This Frozen Silver Metallic finish comes with the standard 5.0-liter V10 engine, with 500 horsepower.
