Consumer Reports is very rigorous when it comes to testing out different models from top carmakers like BMW or Mercedes-Benz. And it also followed the same line when it had to put face-to-face two exquisite models – the BMW 330i vs the Mercedes-Benz C300.

Both models from the 3-Series and the C-Class, respectively, are the ambassadors of refinement when it comes to amazing design and the finest gadgetries inside. Not to mention the powertrains under the hood. But let`s see what decision Consumer Reports made after testing out both models at the same time.

The first one to be taken for a spin was the BMW 330i, which managed a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a good 6.9 seconds, while the Mercedes-Benz C300 ran the same straight line in 6.8 seconds. The slight difference was seen in the more tardive response the 330i had in tight corners particularly.

This was also possible since the Mercedes-Benz C300 comes with a more comfortable ride and improved mechanics, and the lack of adaptive dampers in the 330i.

Besides the performance figures, both models were also carefully examined inside the cabin. Both models come with high-end materials and leather on the seats, navigation systems and a wide range of safety features. However, the 330i`s controls inside are far worse and less intuitive than the ones found on the Mercedes-Benz C300; at least this is what Consumer Report thinks. However, the overall feel of the 330i`s cabin is more business-oriented, while the one on the C300 offers more practicality and response in different driving conditions.

To conclude with Consumer Reports test drive, this is what journalists have said in the end: “I`d date the 3 Series, but I`d marry the C-Class.” Of course, you`re entitled to a completely different opinion!

We are looking here at a flat-four turbocharged engine, developing 248 horsepower, which are sent to the rear wheels via a high-performance eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2016 BMW 7-Series 750i was recently previewed by Consumer Reports in a video which showcases the car`s extraordinary design and boasting technology inside.

The 2016 BMW 7-Series is coming with the latest evolutionary design, complemented by the company`s M Performance Parts, all visible on the front grille with the black accent, glossy black door sill foil, carbon fiber mirror caps, rear spoiler in matte black, as well as the huge 21-inch M Performance alloy wheels, finished in high-gloss black.

Apart the exquisite design, the 7-Series also packs the latest technology in terms of driving dynamics.
It comes with the high-performance air suspension system and dynamic damper, providing the model with precise handling and driving comfor. The driver also gets to choose between the three available driving modes, like Comfort, Comfort + and Sport.

Other features include the chassis control with Executive Drive Pro, Integral Active Steering, Driving Experience Control with Adaptive Mode and much more.

The video below also places the cabin into the hot spots, the luxurious model being fitted with the latest high-end materials, as well as with the most advanced technology. The main attraction remains the updated iDrive operating system, coming with the Touch Display, activating different functions by touching the screen. Consumer Reports, the most well-known reviewer of products, made a daring statement which would put the Buick Regal model ahead, or at least in line with the BMW 328i and the Mercedes-Benz C250.

Consumer Reports also stated that the main reason for encouraging people to buy a Buick Regal are the costs involved, the model in question being significantly cheaper, but with performance to equal that of the 328i model or the C250.

The daring statement is also backed by the director of the famous automotive testing, Jake Fisher, who declared that the Buick Regal is a “thoroughly develop and satisfying midsized sports sedan”, which can undermine the authority of BMW, in terms of both performance and design.

The guys might know what they are saying, since in their reviews, the Buick Regal also managed to outrun the Cadillac ATS, owned by GM.

But for now, the BMW 328i won`t have to worry, as it already won the BMW 328i Consumer Reports Top Picks 2014 Award for the Sport Sedan Category, with an average of 84 points out of 100, for each category.

The BMW 2 Series is, along the new generation 3 series and the all new 4 series, a model from BMW which fans couldn’t wait to get their hands on.

With it being out for a while now, the next step is the now innevitable M variant for the beast.

But while the M2 will definitely appeal to a lot of enthusiasts out there, let’s not forget the slightly lesser version, the M235i. In fact, the BMW M235i is so good, that Consumer Reports gave it 98 out of 100 point during their review. And how did the small car manage to pull that off?

Well, it seems that the BMW M235i is a bit of a return to the roots of BMW, steering away from luxury and returning to the basics: delivering the ultimate driving machine. And it does so with a relatively low price tag. For the US market, the BMW M235i starts around the $43.000 mark, a fair amount for what it has to offer.

According to a recent report BMW have announced their dealer network to stop deliveries of their 1 Series model, particularly the cars produced between January 2010 and May 2010.

This measure has been taken after there is a concern about some of the 2008-2011 model year 1 Series coupes and convertibles.

While the decision may seem alarming, the fact that repairs will begin immediately suggest the problem targeted may benefit from a quick and easy fix.

The issue at hand was uncovered by Consumer reports, when studying some dealer documents, and consists of the vehicles affected not having sufficient clearance between the seat belt tensioners in the B-pillar and the insulating material surrounding it. In the event of a crash, the insulation could overheat and, eventually, catch fire.

Owners will be notified to bring their vehicle to BMW dealers to fix the problem. Dealers will trim the insulating material around the seat belt retractors free of charge. Speaking of owners bringing in their vehicles, an actual recall hasn’t yet been scheduled so most likely it’ll be owner awareness playing a key role and the mail system.
