BMW i3 and i8 are the latest electric vehicles that the German car maker pushed up front and as expected, plans for gaining the general interest are still under development.

These days for instance BMW has announced that the main markets for selling i8, the unit that should be officially introduced this year during Frankfurt Motor Show, are Germany, Great Britain and USA.

Just to make yourself an idea on how motivated and dedicated they are, we shall mention the recently partnership signed with Schneider Electric, in an attempt of providing home charging installation services in UK.

If you have been following the news on BMW’s sales strategy, you must have also heard about the intention of providing sales and test drive scheduling options over the internet, a plan that has been intensively criticized by numerous dealers.

Back to our initial topic of discussion, BMW is targeting no less than 50 markets from around the world, with USA being the most important one, particularly for i8. Nevertheless, French buyers are also expected to manifest interest.

Above all these, perhaps the most important information is that BMW is targeting men of around 35 years, always up to date with technology upgrades and, naturally, with high finances.

Before buying such a car, those interested in it can try different types of BMWs in order to choose the proper one that suits them best.

Great victories require lots of smaller ones, at least this is beginning to be the thought process of BMW when it comes to it’s strategy in the future. Because of the world’s trends and evolving markets, especially in China, BMW tries to plan ahead of it’s main rivals Lexus and Mercedes and slowly but surely cut down on size.

The German car manufacturer thinks that in order for it’s models to be more attractive to customers, they have to be smaller, more efficient with fuel management and lighter. Thus, BMW will be adding new investments to its plants.

This is also true for the engines, especially the V8, because Europe and China don’t require as many except for the US that will probably remain a niche market for them.

So times are changing and power isn’t everything nowadays, not in a car from the premium segment. China, for example, isn’t interested in horsepower as it is in emissions and fuel consumption. So BMW, in order to qualify for it’s second biggest market, must accept its demands. And if we think of the numbers that result from BMW car sales there, they have good reasons too.

There are coming BMW cars with four cylinder diesel engines under the hood of these vehicles. People are saying that these engines are as good as the six cylinders so there are few differences and probably also with big differences of money, if not is still worth to buy a six cylinder BMW instead of this new four cylinder but at the moment we don’t have so much details about this engine.

People expects from these engines to have the red-line at 4,500 RPM and from what I think and as I saw, I’m not the only one, is too low for any BMW because as we know, any BMW car should be powerful.

Anyway, as the title reveals, this four cylinder engine would be a 2.0 liter engine which is quite powerful comparing it to the other auto maker’s cars. Anyway, if I would have the possibility to buy a BMW car, it would be a six cylinder or more.
