We have a lot of festivals out there, more or less official, that celebrate the great craftsmanship BMW has displayed over the years.

There is even a very nice gathering that caters specifically to the M Division of the German car maker.

Called the M Festival, it was set on June the 20th this year, and anyone willing to pay the entry fee will get to see all that is new with BMW’s M Division and so much more. In order to get in, you need to fork out €449, which will account for three days of fun and plenty of activities.

Said activities and advantages include an entrance ticket to the 24 hours race at the Nurburgring, access to pretty much all the M Festival areas, around the clock catering (most of which is included) and a whole lot more. You even get a the parking included. All in all, for almost €450, you get a nice vacation as any, provided you are a fan of the BMW M Division.

According to the information coming from the Germans at Autobild, the new BMW M3 CRT special edition revealed last week is rumored to be already sold out. The new M3 CRT is a special edition limited to only 67 units and specially dedicated to the European customers. Actually, it is not very surprising to hear that the BMW M3 CRT is sold out considering that the M3 Frozen Black edition, a special model dedicated to the American market, took only 22 minutes to be entirely sold.

CRT stands for Carbon Racing Technology, the German model receiving a bunch of lightweight components able to significantly improve the performance and why not, the appearance. Besides the styling improvements, the BMW M3 CRT special edition gets some additional power under the bonnet, a noteworthy fact considering that the last M3 special editions got nothing but styling tweaks.

Another interesting decision taken by BMW is to offer this package for the four-door BMW M3 Sedan (E90), not the Coupe version as the previous models. The new BMW M3 CRT weighs 45 kilograms less than the standard model, which leads to a total mass of 1580 kilograms. This is possible mainly due to the new hood, roof and lid spoiler made of carbon fiber as well as the titanium exhaust and 19-inch aluminum wheels borrowed from the GTS Coupe.

Under the bonnet, the 4.4-liter V8 unit delivers 450 horsepower, an increase of 30 horses compared to the standard model. The M3 CRT sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds and achieves a top speed of 290 km/h, a revised seven-speed M Dual-Clutch Transmission being available too. At the interior, BMW keeps the same lightweight philosophy with carbon fiber seats, door sills, aluminum trim, carbon fiber door sills and door panels.

Even this is not confirmed yet, BMW priced the new M3 CRT special edition at €130,000 including VAT but this information is almost unnecessary considering that all the 67 units were already ordered. The Germans from BMW decided to reveal the first video of the new BMW M5 (F10), a footage which shows the German M model revving its engine at the Ascari Race Resort in southern Spain. We already discussed all the important facts and figures of the high performance model based on the current 5 Series generation but if you missed it you can read more here. The new M5 will debut this fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show but also later this week at the M Festival.

The pure M character of the German model is underlined in this video, the new M5 eating the tarmac and showing its special features worthy of an M model.

“Compelling track potential combines with the comprehensive practicality of a luxurious business saloon; groundbreaking character headlined by significantly improved efficiency, supreme long-distance comfort, and innovative driver assistance systems and infotainment functions,” says the official press release.

Under the bonnet, the new M5 F10 packs the newly developed BMW M high-performance engine, the 4.4-liter unit with M TwinPower Turbo which includes VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control, High Precision Injection, cross-bank exhaust manifold and also Twin Scroll Twin Turbo technology. The new V8 engine is able to produce 560 horsepower at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm while the maximum torque of 680 Nm is available from 1,500 rpm.

The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 4,4 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 13 seconds thanks to a fast but accurate seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic. The top speed of the new M5 is electronically limited at 250 km/h but it can be increased to 305 km/h if you opt for M Driver’s Package. Even with this noteworthy performance, the German model manages to create a balance between power and consumption, with an average fuel economy of 9,9 liters/100 km mainly thanks to the Efficient Dynamics, Brake Energy Regeneration and Auto Start-Stop systems.
