Rumors with an upcoming BMW 8-Series – reportedly the most luxurious two-door ever built – are not knew, with the carmaker also confirming the arrival of such a high-end model. And the spy photos with a two-door body style BMW has created quite a stir concerning its future naming.

Some from the media – including the folks who have provided the images – claim that this would be the future 6-Series Coupe, while others sustain that the test mule in question is actually the upcoming 8-Series which replaces the present 6-Series Coupe.

No matter how we put it, this is a clear fact that we are dealing here with a GT test mule, and that judging by the way it looks, with the wide and more prominent aero kit, more slopping roofline, which kinda separates it from the 6-Series Coupe thus bringing closer to the future 8-Series.

Even so, there aren`t any clear facts that this would also be the new 8 Series, especially since the test mule`s design as a GT might leave plenty of room for a smaller displacement, perhaps a smaller future 6-Series Grand Coupe. Still confused on that matter, we still hope that BMW will soon release the first details of this test mule seen in the media gallery below.

From what we know so far from recent reports, when it will arrive, the future BMW 8-Series would underpin the same lightweight platform as the current 2017 7-Series, meaning carbon fiber and aluminum composites, which will make it more lightweight and making room for a wide array of engines.

Speaking about performance, the new 8-Series is said to borrow the powertrain lineup from the 7-Series, adding new diesels as well as a top of the line 850i, which will equip the new high-performance 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

The 2015 NAIAS has already opened its gates and one of the most anticipated models to be launched here is the revised BMW 6-Series, which has brought its entire fleet. We are talking about the facelift of the 6-Series Coupe, 6-Series Gran Coupe, as well as the 6-Series Convertible.

The new BMW 6-Series lineup comes with an array of changes, first seen on the body and slowly moving towards the cabin as well as under the hood.

First, the new 6-Series have been equipped with some special body paintjobs, like the Melbourne Red metallic, Cashmere Silver metallic, Mediterranean Blue metallis, Glacier Silver metallic or the Jatoba metallic.

The BMW 6-Series Coupe received a new tuning kit, this time from the specialists at M&D. The PD6XX package comes with both styling and performance tweaks able to make the German car more appealing to customers.

To begin with, the stock 4.4-liter V8 engine receives a sports exhaust system and a new ECU for a total output of 510 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque.

The company declined to release the 0-100 km/h sprint time but we are sure that it is improved thanks to the extra power.

At the exterior, the BMW 6-Series Coupe by M&D comes with new front and rear bumpers, extended wheel arches housing 21-inch forged aluminum wheels with Continental Sport Contact 5 tires, new side skirts and a rear diffuser.

The front also stands out thanks to the vented hood and the revised front grille. Enter the cabin and you will find a leather-wrapped steering wheel, gloss black trim red inserts and other minor tweaks.

Spy photographers shot the facelift version of the BMW 6-Series Coupe during tests in Europe. The German sports car in question is the 2015 model year and wears almost no camouflage.

This means that the new model won’t get any major upgrades but also that the development and testing stages are close to an end. The covered parts such as the optical blocks, three-quarter panels and front bumper will be the ones that will get some minor tweaks.

There are no details about any improvements under the hood but you could expect some minor changes to the current range, tweaks which should improve the performance and consumption.

Inside, the 2015 BMW 6-Series Coupe will get some insignificant modifications so the cabin will remain largely untouched.

The Germans from BMW announced the pricing of the new 6 Series Coupe for the British market. The third generation 6 Series was revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year and is expected to hit the British showrooms at the end of this week. The most affordable version of the German model is the BMW 640i SE Coupe priced at £59,565. It benefits from a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine offering 320 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, enough resources for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5,4 seconds.

The SE trim level brings Xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, LED fog lights, a set of 18-inch alloy wheels and Dakota leather upholstery inside.

The only diesel offering is the BMW 640d which is powered by a six-cylinder diesel with 313 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,5 seconds and hits a top speed of 250 km/h.

The most powerful 6 Series in the UK is the BMW 650i and is priced at £71,840 and comes with 407 horses and 600 Nm of torque. This power comes from a 4.4-liter eight-cylinder unit able to kick the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4,9 seconds, hitting a limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Thanks to a Dutch newspaper, NRC Handelsblad more exactly, we get the opportunity to see how the BMW 6 Series Coupe (F12) fitted with the M Sport package will look like. It’s true that we got a glimpse about three weeks ago when we have been delivered some spy photos with the prototype in question, but this time we know that we see an official image.

At that time, we were told that the model being tested it’s not benefiting from all the components available, thus, we can get a complete idea on the M Sport package now.

At the exterior, the M Sport package offers revised front and rear bumpers, new side skirts, a new sport exhaust system, daytime running LED lights, LED fog lamps integrated into the front bumper and a new set of alloy wheels. Inside, some improvements such as an M steering wheel, new sport seats, aluminum pedals and Alcantara upholstery can be seen.

In terms of power, the first details announce no improvements under the bonnet, the same 4.4-liter V8 developing the same amount of power being suggested.

BMW released new details on the M Sport package that will be available for the German Coupe. Actually, a prototype wearing the M clothes has been spotted recently in Germany, a model coming with few aesthetic improvements such as new front and rear bumpers and side skirts.

At that time we didn’t knew for sure when the M Sport package will be available but we assumed that it will debut somewhere next year. Well, BMW stated that from the first day you can opt for the M package, the BMW 6 Series Coupe being scheduled to enter the market in September.

When BMW introduced the new 6 Series Coupe, they revealed the specs of the 650i version. BMW 650i F12 comes with a 4.4-liter V8 offering 400 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. The V8 is packed together with an eight-speed automatic transmission that facilitates the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,8 seconds while the top speed is limited at 250 km/h.

For now, there are no details about the diesel unit that will be available for the new 6 Series Coupe, however we know that the European customers will get the diesel version from the first day.

If yesterday we analyzed the first information regarding the exterior/interior design and the driver assist systems, today we will take a look at the engine range available for the third generation 6 Series.

Once with its debut somewhere this fall, you will be able to order the new 6 Series Coupe with two different engine options. The first one, BMW 640i, comes with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder alongside an eight-speed automatic transmission. With this setup you will get 315 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, the German model offering a top speed of 250 km/h and a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,4 seconds.

If you want about extra 100 horses, you can opt for the 650i version which packs a 4.4-liter V8 engine able to offer 402 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque.

The acceleration time improves by 0,5 seconds while the top speed is the same, 250 km/h. In terms of fuel consumption, BMW 640i F12 needs 7,7 liters every 100 kilometers while the more potent 650i has a consumption of 10,4 liters. Shortly after the convertible version of the new generation 6 Series had been unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, the latest spy shots reveal us the coupe version of the new generation, codenamed F12.

Even the new BMW 6 Series Coupe (F12) will be unveiled at the incoming Geneva Motor Show or later at Frakfurt, we know for sure that the model is very close to debut, especially considering that its testing process rechead an advanced stage as we see the model undistinguished.

Together either with six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions, the new 6 Series Coupe should came with almost the same engines as its already revealed convertible brother, for the beginning the turbocharged 400-horsepower V8 engine being most likely to fit the 650i version of the new German coupe.

The new BMW 6 Series Coupe gets some lines inspired from the BMW Concept 6 Series Coupe unveiled last year at Paris. In conclusion, we can expect to see the new coupe earliest at Geneva Motor Show.
