The BMW 3-Series is considered one of the most famous and successful from the entire BMW range, with millions of models being sold out for the last 15 years. Now, a special edition is making its way onto the Australian market.

It is all about the 2016 BMW 3-Series GT LCI (Life Cycle Impulsive), coming in two variants, the 320d GT LCI available from $70,400 as well as the top of the line 330i GT LCI, costing $77,900. Both of them come with improved styling and performance features.

The entry-level 320d comes equipped as standard at the exterior with LED headlamps or the 18-inch alloy wheels, while inside, the cabin greets you with sensatec upholstery, rearview camera, head-up display, side-view mirroring, M suspension package, adding the whole range of safety features, including lane-change warning and driving assistant package.

In case you want extra goodies, then you can choose the Innovation package, available at $2,879 and adding adaptive cruise control, parking assistance, navigation system and so on.

Performance wise, the 320d GT packs a 2.0-liter turbo flat-four diesel engine, with 140 kW and 400 Nm of torque, hooked to an eight-speed automatic, which allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. The CO2 emissions stand at 118 g/km, with the version also burning out 4.5L/100 km.

On the other hand, the much expensive 330i GT packs a 2.0-liter engine with 185 kW and 350 Nm of torque, the version reaching 100 km/h in a good 6.6 seconds. It also burns 6.2L/100 km, while the CO2 emissions stand at 141 g/km.

As for the exterior package, this lad here can be had with the 19-inch alloy wheels, Professional navigation system, Dakota leather, panoramic sunroof or electric lombar supper. For an extra $3,500, you can also get the Innovation Package, adding stop/go, parking assistance, active cruise control and do on.

BMW wants to add up two new engines to the BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo, which will complete the entire lineup of the 3-Series, especially since the 3-Series Gran Turismo has not yet received any new powertrains under the hood. The new engines refer to the GT 318d and the GT 320d, debuting this summer. Let`s see some information on the two new engines concerning performance, fuel-consumption figures and the CO2 emissions.

BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo 318d

The GT 318d will come with the 2.0-liter unit, developing 150 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, that would make it sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds, via the manual transmission. The 318d is 0.1 faster with the automatic transmission.

Apart from the performance figures, the GT 318d, in the manual transmission, is coming with a fuel consumption of 4.5L/100 km, while it the automatic it stands at 4.3L/100 km. The CO2 emissions for the 318d are now standing at 117 g/km (in the manual) and 117 g/km (in the automatic).

BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo 320d

On the other hand, the GT 320d will be powered by the same engine, but the performance figures are higher, as well as the prices. This version comes with 190 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, via a manual transmission. The 320d is faster in the automatic, meaning 7.7 seconds.

In the same manual transmission, the 3-Series GT 320d is coming with a fuel consumption of 4.6L/100 km and CO2 emissions of 125 g/km, while the automatic one goes 4.3L/100 km, with CO2 emissions standing t 125 g/km.

Safety features

Apart the two engines, both the GT 318d and 320d, are coming with a wide array of safety gizmos, like airbags fitted at the driver and front-seat passengers and at front-seat passenger side, automatic three-point seatbelts, crash sensors, tire pressure indicator, Brake Energy Regeneration, Automatic start/stop function and much more. No prices have been set yet for the GT 318d and 320d.

The BMW Abu Dhabi dealership is hosting yet another interesting model, namely the BMW 3-Series GT with M Performance Parts. As we are used to, these parts won’t provide any performance boost but will certainly improve the looks.

To begin with, the German model gets revised front and rear bumpers, side skirts, larger 20-inch alloy wheels with high-performance tires and carbon fiber mirror caps.

You will also notice the M graphics on the side skirts and tailgate as well as gloss black kidney grille.

There are no official details about the engine range but considering that we talk about the M Performance Parts, which consists basically of a styling package, we assume that the range will carry over.

The Germans from BMW are keen to reveal the new 3-Series Gran Turismo as the fresh sub-segment car to get the practicality package of the 3-Series Tourer, all coupled in a sedan.

The 3-Series Gran Turismo receives some important updates for the body. We are talking about some fresh new kidney grilles and fascia, along with larger headlights.

The new BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo is coming with aero elements that are meant to reduce drag by channeling air found around the front wheels.

At the rear, the car has an active spoiler, with a wing expected to reduce rear lift of the Gran Turismo`s aerodynamics, making it closer to the Sedan.

The taillights are also one of a kind. The Sedan`s 3 Series rear lights have been transformed into a hockey stick-shaped unit, elongated wheelbase for a more stable 17-inch wheels and weight distribution at the same 50:50.

The new BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo, has updated suspension, with tweaks for electromechanical steering.

The Germans at BMW announced their plans for the upcoming New York International Auto Show, an event which opens its gates on March 27.

There will be several models which will be showcased in New York, but the most attractive ones will be the all-new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo as well as a new BMW 328d.

As you already know, the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower engine producing 240 horsepower and 345Nm of torque. A more potent version motivated by a 3.0-liter unit offering 300 horses is also available.

On the other hand, the BMW 328d is the company’s diesel proposal for the States, a model which makes use of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 180 horsepower and 379Nm of torque. It will enable the German model to sprint from 0 to 100 in 7,2 seconds, highway fuel economy being rated at about 40mpg US.

In other news, the BMW Concept Active Tourer will be also showcased this month at New York.

With the long-awaited Geneva Motor Show opened to the public, BMW started presenting their newest models in range.

One of them is the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, a model which has a quite difficult task considering that the previous GT models were not very well received.

The German company says that the new 3 Series GT is 20 cm longer and 8,1 cm taller than the Touring model, which translates into a better rear seat legroom and a luggage capacity of 1600 liters.

Under the bonnet, we will get a variety of 2.0-liter TwinTurbo four-cylinder units but also a more powerful 3.0-liter inline-six. The base model is a 2.0-liter diesel producing 143 horses and 320Nm of torque, followed up by a similar version with 184 hp and 380Nm of torque.

BMW also offers petrol units with outputs ranging from 184 hp to 245 hp. The range-topping variant is powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder powerplant producing 306 horsepower and 400Nm of torque.

The 2011 edition of the motor show in Frankfurt is expected to host the debute of the Gran Turismo version of the current BMW 3 Series. The BMW’s rumored X4 might be revealed in the same time.

French people at Auto-Journal succeeded to make this rendering in order for us to understand better and earlier how the Gran Turismo version of the 3 Series will look in 2012, when it will be available for buying.

By this time, no extra information are known on the future BMW 3 Series GT, the only thing we pretty know is how the future Bavarian model will look like, and you can see it through the rendering made by people at Auto-Journal. There are some rumors that the new BMW 3 Series GT will borrow some features from other models in the range like the 7 Series range, but nothing certain is know for now, the Bavarian manufacturer didn’t made any announcement on this rendering.
