The upcoming 2018 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo is popping-up into the spotlights again in its final round of tests in the snow, just before officially heading to the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This would be Alpina`s response to the upcoming M5 from BMW.

As expected, and just like the future M5, the new B5 Bi-Turbo will take its borrowings from the same G30 5-Series, like sharing the CLAR platform, coming however with some hardcore body components and some extra horses under the hood.

The video below might also be Alpina`s marketing plan of campaigning its gorgeous B5- Bi-Turbo ahead the event, the model flexing its muscles in the snow and looking extremely aggressive and nervous. And you could spot its tuned up design language from miles away.

Based on the same CLAR platform, the new model from Alpina will be also more lightweight than its predecessor, however, according to recent rumors, it won`t come with more power, which is around 600 horsepower, all squeezed from a 4.4 liter twin turbocharged V8 engine.

It remains to be seen if Alpina will make it a duet with the M5 in Geneva, as it would be really challenging to see both models in action.

However, in case it won`t be a real hit at the most important auto show of the year, Alpina has another ace down its sleeve, as it is also preparing the long-rumored B5 Touring, which will be offered as an alternative to the likes from Audi RS6 Avant or Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate. This one will surely be unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

While we are still waiting for an all-new BMW M5 to complete the recently unveiled 5-Series lineup, BMW`s hardcore division Alpina might take the lead and reveal its own interpretation of a potent M model.

The spy photos below provided by GT Spirit might be the right clue that the tuning division is indeed working on the new B5 version, with both sedan and wagon versions, especially since the body styling is nothing but a tuned-up version of the 5-Series.

The test mules working their way on the Ring in what seems to be extremely hard testing, are fully camouflaged, which clearly indicates that we are looking with hefty modifications as opposed to the present top of the line M550i.

Once it will arrive on the market next year, the all-new Alpina B5 will come with an extremely aggressive styling, which is an Alpina characteristic, including updated front and rear bumpers, Alpina alloy wheels, lower ride height, upgraded suspension system and much more.

In the engine department, the Alpina B5 is expected to use the entry-level petrol mill from the M550i, with power input of 462 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, enabling a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.

On the other hand, the diesel will carry over the same engine from the BMW 5-Series 530d, with 270 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque. More than that, the hardcore division will also add a top of the line engine, with around 600 horsepower. For the moment, the detailing list is rather scarce, but we should expect fresh details at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, where the Alpina B5 is said to make its official unveiling.

After the initial reveal which happened few days ago, the Germans from Alpina revealed at the Geneva Motor Show their own proposal of the new BMW 5 Series Touring.

At the first glance we observe the new exterior blue color compared to the initial photos released by the Germans last week. The specialists from Alpina fitted the new B5 Bi-Turbo Touring with the 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine offering 507 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.

With such power under the bonnet and an improved version of the automatic eight-speed transmission, the German model hits 100 km/h in 4,8 seconds and a top speed which barely exceeds 300 km/h.

Outside the Bavarian touring model gets few touches such as Alpina 20-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sports tires and few carbon fiber elements such as a rear diffuser. The ground clearance of the new B5 Bi-Turbo Touring is lowered and offers a better handling while inside you enjoy leather sport seats and other trims. Alpina also fitted a new braking system able to provide better performance thanks to the 375mm front, 345mm rear discs.

We recently talked about the Alpina event at Goodwood. I am talking about the revealing event of the new model from Alpina, the model that I like to call it the 500 horsepower 5 Series, B5. Many manufacturers revealed new models or special editions of existing models at Goodwood, Mercedes also revealing the special edition Mercedes C63 AMG DR520.

Although the Alpina B5 will offer a close horsepower amount compared to the future M5, the new Alpina B5 adopts a different transmission. Is about the ZF gearbox unit with eight reports, increasingly used by the premium manufacturers. On the other hand, we can expect that the future BMW M5 to use a manual double-clutch transmission.

The starting price for the new Alpina B5 has not been published yet, but it will take most likely out of the pocket from 85,000 euros. Even we don’t know exactly the starting price, we know that the first deliveries will start only in autumn.

Alpina brought to Goodwood the new B5 model, the 500-horsepower version of the 5 Series model, able to compete even with the next generation M5.

As promised, people from Alpina brought at Goodwood its future rival for BMW M5. Developed based on the new generation of the 5 Series model, the 550i version, model called B5, proposes an interesting combination of power and performance. This time also the tuners choosed to not use the V10 engine from the M Division, preferring to intense modify the current 4.4-liter V8 engine.

The result of this modification was easy to guess: 500 hp and 700 Nm of torque, sufficient resources to print a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 307 km/h. However, Alpine argues that the performance sedan will be able to offer a combined cycle consumption of only 9 liters per 100 km and thet the emissions level will not pass the 252 g/km threshold.
