The upcoming BMW X1 has been caught on camera during tests. The German small crossover starts dropping camouflage as the debut date gets closer and closer.

The new model will use the UKL platform but it will be few inches shorter. Even so, BMW might offer a long-wheelbase version, therefore, you can get the bigger model if you need to.

In terms of styling, we will see influences from the current models with a more rugged exterior according to some rumors. Under the hood expect to see a lot of engines from the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer as the new BMW X1 is said to be a front-wheel drive model too.

A plug-in hybrid version is also expected to debut with an electric motor and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit producing a total of 190 horsepower.

The prototype in question was spied in the Death Valley but we’ve already seen spy images from Europe as well.

Rumors with the upcoming of the BMW X1 are now confirmed, as the model was seen “live”, wearing some camouflage on the roads in Europe.

The camouflage the 2015 BMW X1 now tweaking, reveals some interesting changes that the model will be coming with.

First we are talking about a larger wheelbase than the present model, meaning that the vehicle will also get some extra room for the rear seats.

More than that, the 2015 BMW X1 is set to sport a revolutionary design, highlighted by a more standout front grille, plastic body cladding and by the sloping roof line as well.

The spy shots revealing the 2015 BMW X1 all wrapped in camouflage are giving us a closer look on how the model would look like at the end, previewing the crossover with a revolutionary body, also seen on the company`s lineup.

Thus, we might state that the 2015 BMW X1 will be coming big time, with a plastic body cladding, a sloping roof line, a tailgate mounted spoiler as well as a dual exhaust system.

Under the hood, the 2015 BMW X1 is coming with an engine lineup, meaning a 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit, also found on the 2-Series Active Tourer, developing 136 horsepower.

The 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo will come with a higher power, which is somewhere between 184 horsepower and 231 horsepower, while the diesel 2.0liter four-cylinder will come up with 150 HP and 184 HP.
