Here we are folks, back with some updated information concerning some details with the powertrain that the 2016 BMW 3-Series will fit under the hood. We previously stated that the 340i, the official replacement of the 335i model, will come with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine under the hood, developing a good 326 horsepower.

We have also found out that the 2016 BMW 3-Series would come with a wide array of three- and four-cylinder engines, fitted under the hood of the entire 3-Series lineup. All of them will be based on the newly straight-six engine B58, which replaces the N55 one used on the former 335i. The B58 will be also used under the 320i, 328i or the 328d, with the carmaker also launching the 330e plug-in hybrid model.

Also, we have already made an idea on the kind of power the BMW 340i will have. This version will make use of its 326 horsepower and 447 Nm of torque, hooked to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This means that the BMW 340i will reach 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, at a topping, limited at 250 km/h.

On the other hand, the 2016 BMW 3-Series is also to receive the expected 330e plug-in hybrid version, reports stating 250 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque for the four-cylinder engine, which is quite enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a good 6.1 seconds. The engine will be backed by an electric motor that should be able to provide the version with a good 22 range mile. We do our best to keep tabs on BMW’s progress and we cover just about everything they do. By the looks of things, so does specialist tuner Alpina.

Having given the F01 BMW 7 Series facelift a proper going over they’ve decided it’s worthy of their approval. That’s why they updated their B7.

The Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo was always a great car, the F01 BMW 7 Series is a great car, the new facelift is well thought out, can you imagine the result?

It retains the same basic structure, the same suspension underpinnings, the same interior and the same prestigious presence.

Alpina did fit the new tweaks of the BMW 7 Series fancy headlights and while they did stick with the 4.4 liter TwinPower turbocharged V8 engine it’s a little different now.

The final output was raised by some 40 horsepower and 22 lb-ft of torque bringing the grand total to 540 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque.

That’s reasonably impressive since while it’s a few ponies short of the 6.0 liter twin-turbo V12 BMW themselves fit in the 760 Li.

With so much power available it’s no wonder that the facelifted Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo can go from 0 to 62 in just 4.3 seconds and that it can hit a top speed of 194 mph.

More importantly, there’s a lot of extra equipment that’s going to be fitted as standard now. The list includes auto start-stop, BMW’s Active protection system and the ceramic coated secondary controls.

All of these make for nice changes being the sort of “going the extra mile” attention to detail that makes Alpina stand out as a tuner.

The Bavarians are cooking up a bit of a mid life update for the F01 BMW 7 Series. The company’s flagship will get a facelift like you’ve never seen before.

Well actually, that’s not true, it’s barely going to change the way its lights and maybe, just maybe, the front bumper will get a bit of a redesign as well.

What will actually change is what’s going on underneath and, as always, some sort of software update is bound to take place or some extra speakers will be fitted.

We expect the engines to get some 10-20 extra ponies and fuel efficiency to be unaffected or improved even further.

Speaking of which, it seems like the F01 BMW ActiveHybrid 750i is what will get the most work. That’s because, contrary to popular opinion it’s a model that makes the most sense.

It may cost a bit of money more than the regular version of the BMW 750i but it will give you 55 more horsepower, save you money on fuel and save you a lot of time and money on taxes and such.

Estimated fuel economy (if it stays the same) for the 750i ActyveHybrid comes in at 17/26 mpg city/highway. It’s not exactly the Prius killer but it’s a bit better than the regular version’s 15/22 rating.

Some voices are even saying that rating might get even better as BMW might be considering a powertrain swap with the 5 Series ActiveHybrid.

That means the 4.4 liter V8 is swapped for 3.0 liter 6 cylinder engine but you still get two turbochargers in the mix.

BMW’s Z8 has been out of the picture for so long most of us forgot about it. It may have had something to do with how “not that good” it was, but still, it’s faded away.

The Germans at Senner Tuning seem to still have a fresh memory of the top of the line BMW roadster of a decade ago and they’ve decided it could be updated.

Which is exactly what they’ve done with their latest project, a tune-up for a previously modern roadster that wanted to be old-school.

Senner Tuning’s new kit starts off properly with a new set of wheels. We’re talking 19 inch Schwert SC1 alloys that wrap around new Racing Gold varnished brake calipers.

The better stopping power, along with some extra grip will also help the BMW Z8 go faster since it’s now wearing Continental Sport Contact 5P “shoes”.

No stiletto’s here but proper running gear with sizes 255/40R19 up front and 285/35R19 at the back.

And then we get closer to the action, Senner Tuning fitted the Z8 roadster with a coilover kit, new front strut bar and adjustable rebound rate.

Cherry on top time; the 5.0 liter V8 engine we originally saw in the E39 M5 isn’t swapped out but improved upon. Thanks to a sports air filter, a custom exhaust system and an ECU remap, the output is now 450 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque.

Pretty nifty, especially when you consider the whole package is available for as little as €14.900 in Europe (roughly 24.500 USD).

If you’re thinking about it, stop, a second hand Z8 won’t be yours for less than 100.000 dollars if it’s to be in running order.
