Sure, it’s been plenty of talk about it, a lot of work will go into it but the amount of rumors regarding the next generation of the F30 M3 simply outweighs both.

Most of them have been dismissed by this point and while some still rage on, the main points have been pretty much cleared.

A few details have been appearing lately however there’s something considerably important to talk as they are biggies.

The 3.0 liter-ish straight six engine was something we already knew and loved considerably more than the rumored V6.

Turbocharged system haven’t been cleared up yet but the displacement is finally available. It will be a 3.2 liter, something that can’t be described as anything other than great.

Some of BMW’s greatest cars ever were powered by a 3.2 liter straight six so the F30 M3 has a lot to live up to.

This happens with every single new M3 model but this generation will have a special “problem” as the Bavarians have announced something worrying.

It seems that the F30 BMW M3 will use an electric power steering system. This usually robs you away of feel and unless BMW manage to revise it brilliantly, the steering may be… less than perfect.

We need to consider the situation like this, would you like less power and have a great steering setup or a rather less responsive one with added boost?

It’s a hard decision and BMW have already made it for us. Perhaps they know what they’re doing better than we can speculate.

It seems like the F01 BMW 7 Series facelift is more of an ongoing piece of kit than we’d imagine. The US market version still has one extra step in evolution to consider.

According to Car and Driver, the Bavarians are going to introduce a diesel version of the flagship limo to the US market.

That’s a serious commitment, even for the sort of company that BMW is. It’s actually so tricky that the original plan to bring BMW diesel back to the US couldn’t happen before.

Apparently, it was the M550d that was to bring diesel back to the US but since that model isn’t expected to have too long a life in production, thus making it not worth the emissions-compliance costs.

Since the BMW 7 Series, be it the F01 version or whatever revised version may be sitting in the future, will have a considerably longer life, that problem is eliminated.

Now that we know they’re coming here’s the short list. All diesel engines that are going into the 7 Series are 3.0 liter straight six-cylinder units, that have been first found in the 735d and the 740d in Europe.

There’s no news on the 750d, the one that would be powered by the new tri-turbocharged six cylinder so the dawn of 400 horsepower in an oil burner is yet to be achieved.

After all, it’s not like its smaller brothers are down on power. Let’s not forget that the 740d has 269 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque.

The 750d, on the other hand, has 312 horses and an even meatier and 465 lb-ft of twist available on tap.

The low-rev nature of that power is what gives the F01 BMW 7 Series even more motorway wafting appeal.

BMW’s success didn’t happen over night and with Audi and Mercedes breathing down their neck it’s not exactly going to keep happening without any reason.

Hard work is key and hard work is what BMW is going to put into their presence at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.

Apparently, the Bavarians will be filling up the stand with models that have something rather popular these days on the side; fuel economy.

Hybrid vehicles make up a much larger part of the market in Japan than anywhere else in the world so it’s no surprise to see BMW focus on this sort of drivetrain.

To begin with, they’ll be showcasing the F10 BMW 5 Series ActiveHybrid, a fuel sipping version of the company’s glorious 535i.

Mating a 3.0 liter turbocharged inline six cylinder engine with an electric motor and providing a few tweaks to the eight speed automatic gearbox for them to work together makes for quite the result.

A total output of 340 horsepower, 40 more than standard are available while efficiency was improved by around 10 percent at the same time.

Just next to this stand, the Bavarians will be showing off another fuel saving solution, something Japan hasn’t been a fan of.

They will be unveiling a BluePerformance technology version of the BMW X5 xDrive35d. The fuel economy bonus is important but what really matters about this version of the diesel X is the addition of an AdBlue system to clean out the nasty parts of the emissions.

The 2011 Tokyo Motor Show will also include the BMW X1 xDrive20i but that’s not really that much of a revolution on fuel economy but it is a premiere in Japan.

Because of the new emissions standards, BMW is starting to make some drastic modifications.

For years, the M-models were powered by a high-revving engine. At the beginning of 2009, BMW will replace the old version with the turbocharged direct-injection powerplant. This way, they will lower the production costs of every M model which will get this type of power. The first model which will receive the transformation is the X6 xDrive M. It seems that the power will be the same, around 500 hp. There are many other models which will be equipped with this type of engine, the most popular being the 2010 BMW M5.

The first official statement says that the engine won’t lose any power, but it will be more fuel efficient and it will certainly deliver lower emissions.
