After several leaked images and even a rendering, we finally get to see the 2015 BMW 1 Series facelift in its full glory as the German company decided to fully unveil the little hatchback.

Available in both three- and five-door variants, the new model comes with serious styling tweaks, new equipment inside and a total of nine versions, three of them also being available with the xDrive system. To begin with, the entry-level BMW 116i packs a 1.5-liter engine producing 109 horsepower while the next two versions, namely 118i and 120i, sport a 1.6-liter engine. The only difference between them is, of course, the output.

If the BMW 118i comes with 136 horses, the 120i has no less than 177 horsepower. More power is offered by the 218 hp 2.0-liter engine in the BMW 125i with the BMW M135i topping at 326 horses and 450 Nm of torque squeezed from a 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit. On the other hand, those of you looking forward to a more frugal car, there’s the BMW 116d with a 1.5-liter producing 116 horsepower.

A 2.0-liter engine with 150 hp, 190 hp and 224 hp equip the rest of the diesel range, namely the 118d, 120d and 125d respectively. With the engine range concluded, we have to take a look at the aesthetic changes that BMW prepared for us. The exterior boasts now LED daytime running lights with optional LED headlights with High Beam Assistant.

Revised bumpers, air intakes and kidney front grille are also available but that’s nothing unexpected. When you enter the cabin you will notice the high-gloss black detailing as well as the revised materials, a dual-zone climate control system, a tweaked infotainment system with a 6.5-inch display as well as a revised center console.

So, the most powerful 2015 BMW 1 Series facelift is the BMW M135i and its xDrive version (BMW M135i xDrive), both having 326hp. The BMW M135i has a top speed of 5,1 seconds (0-100km/h), respectively 4,7 seconds for its xDrive version.

This is not our first contact with the upcoming 1 Series generation as the German model has been caught several times during tests but for sure this will be the most interesting post for the new small family car as, somehow, a large photo gallery with the new BMW 1 Series hatchback (F20) surfaced. The German model is revealed in a set of high resolution photos that most likely appeared on the Internet without BMW’s permission as they released no official details on this.

Even if we talk about leaked photos or not, we are extremely happy to get a full perspective of the design philosophy adopted by the Bavarians. Without doubt, the exterior of the new 1 Series hatchback received significant changes mainly if we are looking at the front and rear optical blocks.

The photo gallery is also enough giver to reveal us important details about the interior of the model, a certain evolution over the previous models being seen. Among others, the interior features Internet connectivity, BMW Apps and a revised iDrive system with a bigger display.

Thanks to Motor Traffic who also published these photos, we can talk a little about the engine range available for the next-generation 1 Series. To be more precise, the first information announces a new 1.6-liter turbocharged engine to join the current lineup. The gasoline unit will fit the new 116i and 118i being able to deliver 136 horsepower, respectively 170 horsepower.

The same source claims that the more efficient diesel units will be able to offer 116, 143 and 184 horsepower squeeze from a 2.0-liter turbo engine. There are some details on the dimensions as well, the German model increasing in size comparing to the curent 1 Series generation. The 2012 BMW 1 Series has a total length of 4,3 meters while the luggage capacity increases to 360 liters. Even so, the current details announce more passengers space due to a platform increased by 8.4 cm. The official debut is set to take place at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show in September. Largely, these are the details available at the moment but I invite you to take a look at the photo gallery and make yourself an idea on the new BMW 1 Series hatchback. As you can see, the model features a modified exterior appearance that can be judged in multiple ways by the customers.

According to our friends from AutoBuild, it seems that BMW are having a little problem deciding between the five different body styles for the new 1 Series. Just one of these five options will be able to go in production.

Some of the ideas include a five-door wagon, a three-door shooting brake, a “Progressive Activity Sedan”, but smaller than the X1, a more traditional sports tourer and a “Sports Activity Coupe” with a glass roof. It sounds great, doesn’t it?
It doesn’t matter which of these models makes the cut, BMW will downsize the displacement of the engines and will try to implement turbocharging and direct injection starting with these 1 Series.

The 116i model will have 136 horsepower, the 1.3-liter turbo will have 177 horsepower, the 120i is going to use a 218 horsepower and the 3.0 will put out about 326 horsepower.
Whichever model is picked for the new 1 Series, it’s expected to hit Europe in 2011.

Some customers say that the current BMW 1 series is too heavy, some of them say it’s too small. The fact is that there isn’t a car in this world that absolutely everybody loves. We all have our tastes in vehicles. However, this doesn’t change the fact that BMW is going to try to improve themselves with every new model that appears.

Some customers expect the new BMW 1 Series to be more spacious, while others want it to be sportier. The new BMW model is expected to grow in size, as most new models are; it will have 300 horsepower through a dual-clutch gearbox and a 0-60 sprint in five seconds flat.

BMW also announced the existence of a plan to come up with a lightweight two-door sport model.
