It is now official that the next-gen BMW 2-Series Convertible will be publicly launched at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, the sports car becoming thus the main competitor of the Audi A3 Convertible.

The news has been spread out by Drive.com, which also spoke this week with BMW`s representative Kai Lichte, stating that the company is ready to unveil a lot of expecting models at the Paris Motor Show.

With the official unveil in Paris, the new 2-Series Convertible will thus join the company`s series lineup, like the Active Tourer and the Coupe, standing between the rear- and the front-wheel drive vehicles.

The 2-Series Convertible will tweak a lot of goodies from the company`s other models, like the fabric roof, taken from the 1-Series Cabriolet, also standing on the same platform.

The BMW 2-Series Convertible will be revealed in the shape of 228i Cabriolet, the 220i and the 220d version, with the engine lineup taken from the coupe models.

We are talking about the same 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged unit, developing 322 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, able of running the 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, if hooked to the 8-speed sport automatic.

The BMW German based luxury automaker has decided to partner with the famous aftermarket specialist Hartge to make some upgrades to the 2-Series lineup concerning the exterior as well as the performance.

If you are the lucky owner of a 2-Series car and would like to upgrade your ride, just head on to Hartge specialist and let them customize it the way they do it.

Hartge will put some new sports spring sets, which will make the car lower with around 30mm at the front as well as with 10 mm at the rear.

More than that, Hartge will also include the logos to the car, the black wheel caps, the floor mats or the tire repair kit.
Upgrades will also concern the engine lineup, meaning that both the gasoline and the diesel engines will get these goodies.

In the 218d for instance, the power will be upgraded up to 174 horses and 380 Nm of torque, compared to the present 143 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque.

The BMW 2-Series 220d will also get more powerful, as it will receive 218 horsepower and massive 450 Nm of torque, while the 225d gets an output of 258 horses and 530 Nm of torque.

The last but not the least 220i version will receive 184 horses and 270 Nm of torque.

Australians can now stay in line to get their hands on one of the recently revealed BMW 2 Series lineup at the 2014 Montreal Auto Show for the base price of 50,000 AUD.

With the newly introduced BMW 2 Series on the Australian market at the base price of just 50,000 AUD, the German car manufacturer is trying to bring up some fresh spicy on the hot continent.

Thus, BMW is replacing the 1 Series Coupe with three versions of the 2 Series, namely the 220i, the 220d, and top of the line M235i.

You can get the cheapest 220i at the price aforementioned, since the car comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, used on the X1, X3, 3 Series and 5 Series as well, developing 135 kW and 270 Nm of torque.

On the other hand, the 220d Coupe diesel comes at the price of 52,500 AUD, being equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and 135 kW and a great 380 Nm of torque.

The top of the line M235i Coupe takes its power from a 3.0-liter engine inline six-cylinder engine, outputting 240 kW and 450 Nm of torque.

The M235i hits the 0 to 100km/h sprint in only 4.8 seconds, with 7.5L of fuel for each of the 100km.

BMW is planning to expand its Series, announcing an Australian launch of the 2-Series in the near future. The model will have a starting price of 50,000 Australian dollars.

The German luxury manufacturer is heading for Australia in March, with three models ready to hit the hot continent, models that will be the successors of the 1-Series Coupe.

The three 2-Series will be the 220i, the 220d and the strong M235i. The 220i Coupe will cost 50,500 AUD, the second model 220d a higher 52,500 AUD price and the high-performance M235i will charge its costumers 79,900 AUD.

As for the three models` specs, we should mention that the BMW has done its homework. Australia will be receiving a 2.-0 liter four-cylinder engine for the 221i Coupe, and enough 270 Nm torque to throttle the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.0 seconds.

Things go even higher with the 220d Coupe. The car will sport a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, with 7.1 seconds for a 0 to 100km/h race, at 380 Nm of torque.

The strongest of all, the M235i, will get a 3.0 liter inline-six engine and 450 Nm of torque, and with a quick 4.8 seconds sprint from 0 to 100 km/h.
