It was more than clear that the successful 2014 BMW M5 will be coming with an upgraded version of the model with the new Competition Package, that would make the car develop 575 horsepower.

And as a result, the BMW is just showing off with its modified M5 model taking full advantage of the Competition Package`s abilities.

The Competition Package doesn’t just add more power, from the original 560 horsepower to the now available 575 ponies, but also enhances a lot of new tweaks to be really taken into consideration.

We are talking here about a new set of suspension with new springs, anti-roll bars or damper calibrations. A specially customized setting was also enhanced on the active rear differential for a better traction.

As for the steering rack, the system is now programmed to implement more direct power and stabilization for the road. Along with the famous M chassis control system that has been recalibrating, the supercar is simply amazing on the tracks.

In case you want to have a fully optional M5 with Competition Package, don’t forget to ask your dealer for an additional shoes, meaning 20-inch unique wheels along with some exhaust outlets all wrapped in black chrome-tipped.

The new BMW M5 gets leaked today through the car configurator as the model appeared earlier than it was expected on the company’s website. In terms of styling, the 2014 BMW M5, which is a facelift version, benefits from a revised front grille, improved optical blocks and revised vertical slats.

Entering the cabin you will find almost no changes, except an improved iDrive system and a redesigned steering wheel.

While there are no surprises under the hood, the stock 4.4-liter V8 producing 560 horsepower and 680Nm of torque may receive a boost.

To be more precise, we talk about the Competition Package, an optional feature able to bring an extra 15hp, improving the top speed and maybe the 0-100 km/h sprint time.

We’ve also got an estimative starting price for the 2014 BMW M5. According to the current details, the German sports car will be priced from about €103,000.

The new M5 starts to show its metal more often, the facelift version of the high-performance model being spied today once again on European roads.

To begin with, you should not expect any performance tweaks as the 4.4-liter V8 under the hood will very likely remain the same. This means that it will produce 560 horsepower and 680Nm of torque, for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.4 seconds and a top speed limited at 250 km/h.

Styling improvements at the exterior include a slightly revised front bumper, front grille and optical blocks.

The rear end is also receiving a tweaked bumper and taillights. To be honest, the optical blocks will be the main differentiating features for the 2014 BMW M5 compared to the current model.

According to the current rumors, a new Competition Package should be available for the German model, a pack which increases the total output to 575 horsepower, improving the 0-100 km/h acceleration time and top speed as well.

BMW is preparing to refresh the 5 Series range with a facelift treatment later this year. We’ve seen spy photos for the Sedan, Touring and GT, this time the high-performance M model being in the spotlight.

You should not expect any major styling improvements, BMW opting to revise the optical blocks, front grille and rear bumper. Power will be provided by the same 4.4-liter V8 powerplant capable to produce 560 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.

Inside, buyers should expect an improved instrument display, new materials and trim but also an upgraded iDrive multimedia system with additional features.

As we told you above, the BMW M5 prototype caught in these spy shots was seen somewhere around the well-known Nürburgring track in Germany.

More information about the 2014 BMW M5 will be available as it gets closer to the launch date.
