There is no doubt that BMW manufacturer is the most prestigious in the market, annually selling millions of models all around the world. And the simple reason that it makes the best cars in all segments, has brought its recognition on Instagram as well, with more than 10,000,000 followers admiring its work and dedication.

But BMW`s massive success is not only due to its dedication and professionalism in building the best cars, but also due to its strong communication it has with its customers and fans through-out the social media.

It creates special channels where people can talk and express their opinions about BMW products, and it also builds special websites with different products which wear the company`s own brand and signature. And what fine products it creates.

This means that BMW has created an impressive strategy on which it can build its world fame via social media. Speaking of which, Jorg Poggenpohl, head of Digital Marketing BMW, has also explained the carmaker`s success on social media, particularly on its Instagram channel:

“The aim of our social media strategy is to optimise how we use the special features of the specific channels available to us. Instagram is made for initiating authentic dialogue with followers worldwide. It is important to us not only to celebrate our own achievements, but, above all, to share the excitement and enthusiasm of our fans and customers with an audience of millions.”

According to BMW`s dedicated website – www.press.bmwgroup.com – the German based manufacturer first foreseen the social media`s potential for its future strategy, back in 2012, when t it published the first image of the BMW 650i Coupe. Two years later, BMW had already had more than one million followers. And that`s when it all started…

The BMW 3 Series was always a key part of the Bavarian company’s success but the F30 will have more of a commercial burden on its shoulders than any of its predecessors.

BMW needs the 3 Series to sell well because it is one of the biggest “bread and butter” offerings they have on the market and it will be a major part of this and next year’s fight for leadership.

The leadership in question is that of the U.S. market sales for luxury cars and since Lexus is out of the picture due to recent events, it’ll be a straight fight between our favorite Germans and the ones at Mercedes.

This year it seems like BMW are going to enjoy the crown and with the boost in sales of the F30 3 Series it should come as close to certain as possible.

What is going to be trickier is to see the same boost turn into some serious volume over 2012 as Mercedes’ avalanche of very new models comes in.

A bit unusually, BMW is not very certain on what to do with the same F30 3 Series Estate we covered just a few days ago.

Making it more of a practical option seems right to help sales but the desperately low demand they’ve been seeing with the E90 model isn’t encouraging at all.

At the moment, with results for the three first quarters of 2011, BMW leads Mercedes in sales with 177.679 units to 170.058 and predictions are looking better and better.

The same applies for the first quarter of 2012 but it is then where the sales figures are going to be closer and closer as the F30 3 Series will have lost some of its initial appeal.

By then, the big boys BMW X3 and X5 will have had to toughen up their selling points and, together with a possible F30 3 Series diesel, keep the lead where it matters.

Seeing how the BMW X6 has had a tremendous success, the Bavarians are seriously considering the creation of a smaller brother for it.

Since it’s launch back in 2008 the BMW X6 has sold over 80.000 units so it would only make sense to make a smaller, more affordable version of it.

The BMW X6 has been even more controversial then all of the styling decisions made by Chris Bangle a few years ago as almost nobody seemed to understand the concept  behind the car. Nevertheless the sales figure speak for themselves and they make up the best proof behind the demand for sporty off-roaders.

While the X4 hasn’t gotten the green light yet, actually, it doesn’t even have this name yet. What it could be is a car based on the X3 platform, that would draw stylistic inspiration from the X6, obviously, and from the X Coupe Concept presented in 2001.

Since BMW has been responsible for creating niche products such as the 5 Series GranTurismo or the BMW X1 the X4 could well be soon coming to a dealership near you. How soon? Well possibly around the same time the BMW Gran Coupe hits the market in 2012.
