As we know, we don’t exactly live in a world of supercars. We don’t really live in a world of green econoboxes either and nor do we see executive saloons everywhere.

These days, just about everybody seems to be making some sort of SUV, SAV, crossover or any hybrid contraption in between them.

We know that sometime in about two years BMW will introduce something that looks like the render above. A new model that’ll likely be called the BMW X4.

Picking up some of the slack off the demand the BMW X6 SAV can’t keep up with, the new car coupe look-a-like crossover will be closer in size to the X3.

When it hits the market, the new bimmer would be a main rival for genuinely sporty looking crossovers such as the Range Rover Evoque and Porsche’s upcoming Cajun Macan.

In terms of performance, we’ll likely see the BMW X4 behave a lot like the X3 but with a bit of a more aerodynamic and lighter body, things are looking up.

What might make a considerable difference on that front, apart from the choice of engine, will be the choice of transmission.

BMW will reportedly offer a six speed manual, a seven speed dual clutch and the eight speed auto. Each will behave differently.

I’m not the BMW X6′ biggest fan but I have to say, if this rendering turns out to be accurate, the X4 could be quite a sweet looker. Even if a bit like Lamborghini Urus.

When it does come to the market, BMW expects to sell the X4 big time, this is why the Spartanburg production plant will be churning out more than 150.000 units per year.

I feel like it’s been a while since we’ve heard something about the F30 BMW 3 Series. I’d really like to deliver some but there aren’t any around.

Not only are the winter holidays slowing down the whole process both in and around the automotive industry but there’s something in the F30 box.

Something very interesting, as it’s a set of renderings of what the F30 BMW M3 Coupe could end up looking like. We’re not talking about a cartoon but something pretty believable.

They were drawn up by Iacoski Design and by the look of it they could make the news any day.

Despite the speculation part and the fact that a real F30 BMW M3 Coupe won’t be ready for us for at least a year from now, you can’t help but look can you?

The instantly recognizable F30 BMW 3 Series coupe, the more aggressive body kit, the carbon fiber roof, the aero mirrors, massive brakes and wheels, they all fit in beautifully.

In regards to the performance aspects of the BMW M3 Coupe, things are at the moment so unclear it’s almost pointless to even continue the speculation.

Will it be powered by a straight or a V six cylinder engine? Will it have two or three turbochargers? Will it have a manual transmission option?

Not really relevant so now, we’ll eventually find that out but by then we’ll clearly enjoy the actual looks of the car and not the renderings available from independent sources.

We still expect this particular rendering to be very close to the real thing albeit possibly toned down as BMW’s M3 will be less flared.

In the midst of everybody covering the F30 BMW 3 Series, Albert Biermann, Head of Product Development for the Bavarians got himself a break from questions about it.

During a recent interview he was faced with plenty of questions that came up with considerably more interesting answers than we imagine as they’ve been related to M badged BMWs.

Particularly, there’s a few hot answers regarding the F10 BMW M5 and all sorts of speculation that’s been surrounding it lately.

To begin with, thanks to the Americans, the BMW F10 M5 will be getting a manual transmission option though this comes with a proviso. It could very well be the last time we see such “generosity” on behalf of BMW and the M5.

In regards to other rumors about the 2012 BMW M5, Biermann says a definite “no” to any of the rumors about an all wheel drive version of their brilliant sports sedan.

Can’t say that I regret this decision, but there will be plenty, some actual BMW M5 customers that might end up doing so.

Another negative answer is to be seen regarding the rumors of the estate version of the F10 BMW M5. Thanks to incredibly slow sales figures, it seems like the hot estate will not live through another iteration.

The last detail Biermann was questioned on was the weight “problem” of the F10 BMW M5. Quite a delicate subject that but the answer was actually pretty surprising.

Apparently the M division’s purpose is not to make the BMW M5 as light as possible but as close to the weight of a normal fast 5 Series despite adding so much new equipment and such.

With the F10 BMW M5 they’ve managed to get that difference to just 33 kilograms so that’s quite the achievement.

BMW’s electric four seater, the Megacity, is one eagerly awaited vehicle but according to some recent speculation it may be just the tip of the iceberg for the new market the Bavarians are approaching.

Apparently BMW are considering offering more than one variant of the Megacity and are even considering adding a sports car to the line.

BMW sales and marketing boss Ian Robertson has admitted to the fact that we could be expecting these multiple versions of the Megacity, when interviewed by Autocar, and also referred to the Vision EfficientDynamics sports car concept as something with a strong potential for becoming a pure electric sports car.

This said though it is to be expected that a production version of the Vision EfficientDynamics will be different in some ways but one thing has been set clear about the Megacity and this potential EV Sports Car, they will both be sold with BMW badges and no different brands are going to be started. They will still have a certain distinction, pretty much what you can expect from the M powered cars.

Until we see either of them on the road there’s a few things you need to know, neither will come cheap since BMW are very decided on killing weight as much as possible so most of the construction will be made of carbon fiber. Add to that pretty high cost of development and low target sales and prices aren’t going to be joyous.

Either way I have to say I’m eagerly awaiting an EV that’s done properly.
