In order to make the sedan market more competitive in Australia, BMW has announced that, besides the M3 standard model and the M3 Competition Package, it will also launch a more affordable edition, called the Pure, and priced at $129,900.

Over the standard sedan, the M3 Pure is $10,000 AUD cheaper, yet coming with exquisite features at the exterior as well as inside. Speaking of which, Marc Werner, CEO at BMW Australia, has also declared in an official interview:

“The BMW M3 Pure builds further on Australia’s successful Pure edition models, most recently seen on the BMW M3 and M5. This model offers the full capability of our M3 Competition at a price point that is sure to attract a new core of enthusiast customers.”

Common features with the rest of the lineup refer to illuminated ”M3” badging on the M sports seats, as well as the latest iDrive6 infotainment system.

At the exterior, the M3 Pure borrows plenty of the equipment from the M Competition Package, like 19-inch double-spoke black alloy wheels as standard, or the optional 20-inch alloys, adding as well LED headlights, M Competition exhaust tailpipes, carbon fiber roof, gloss black gills, kidney grille or bootlid with the M3 logo.

Inside, the list of mods are also impressive and refer to ConnectedDrive Freedom, Navigation System Professional, Driving Assistant, Carbon structure cloth/leather upholstery, Carbon fiber interior trim, or nine-speaker Hi-Fi sound system.

In the engine department, the 2017 BMW M3 Pure comes with the same 3.0-liter inline straight-six with BMW`s TwinPower Turbo technology, allowing 444 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. Hooked to a six-speed manual transmission, the model runs the 0 to 100 km/h straight line in 4.2 seconds, however, with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, the same distance is done in 4.0 seconds.

Until BMW unveils the new BMW M5 Touring at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, we are glad to see its alternative in the shape of the 2018 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo wagon, recently released at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, along with the sedan sibling. The models are also highlighted in a short video presentation.

Visually, the new 2018 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo wagon features the same Alpina Blue and Alpina Green metallic paintjobs like the sedan, adding as well an extremely aggressive aero package, highlighted by the 20-inch alloy wheels with blue brake calipers.

Other distinctive body style features also refer to the newly-added air inlet on the front apron with the “Alpina” lettering in various colours.

Inside, the cabin welcomes you with luxurious and high-end materials like Nappa leather upholstery, Alpina steering wheel with blue/green stitching, illuminated door sills, optional wood trims, piano lacquer finish surrounding some parts of the cabin and so on.

Under the hood, the 2018 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo packs the same 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine with impressive 608 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, being sent to all wheels vial an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

This allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, which is just a little bit slower than the sedan`s 3.5 seconds. The top speed is set at 330 km/h.

Once arriving on the German market first, the sedan will kick off from 94,118 euros, while the wagon will be set at 96,891 euros. In case you want more goodies than the standard offerings, you could also add the 2,773-euro limited-slip differential, high-performance brakes for an extra 1,495 euros, or the head-up display available at 1,000 euros.

After unveiling the all-new BMW 1-Series 125i Sedan at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show last November, the China-only model is ending up into the spotlights again through a recent video which highlights the car`s gorgeous exterior and exquisite interior.

As the carmaker recently stated in an interview, the all-new 125i Sedan represents “the first compact sedan strategically developed on the quest to fit the young generation group who is driven by having the charisma of a young identity: design, handling, connectivity, and versatility.”

Released on the market as the main competitor of the all-new Audi A3 or Mercedes-Benz CLA Class, the new 125i Sedan is now looking fresh with a much wider platform, measuring 4.456 mm long, 1,803 mm wide and 1,446 mm high, coming as well with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm.

Compared to the previous models, the new BMW 125i sedan is visibly bigger and wider, resembling its older siblings, and coming as well with increase space inside and three engines under the hood.

Visually, the BMW 1-Series 125i Sedan shares the overall design also seen on other BMW products, adding as well its own styling bits, including the double kidney grille and double round headlights, short overhangs and long bonnet, as well as the already familiar “Hofmeister-Knick” styling, which increases the car`s aggressive attitude.

Inside, the cabin has already been highlighted, being equipped with an 8.8-inch LED central screen, BMW`s up-to-date iDrive system, full-colour Head-up Display, Start / Stop button, electric brake, or three-spoke multi-function steering.

In the engine department, the model is equipped with three engines, the 118i, 120i and the 125i. The first one comes with a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo engine three-cylinder with 136 horsepower, followed by the 120i`s and the 125i`s 2.0-liter TwinPower flat-four with 192 horsepower and 231 horsepower, respectively.

The recently unveiled 2017 G30 BMW 5 Series Sedan is considered the latest high-end model to be released on the market, the model coming with exceptional driving dynamics and efficiency. BMW is preparing the all-new 2017 BMW 5-Series Grand Touring for an official debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, in October, the model being spied while performing new driving tests in camouflage. The GT will join the G30 Sedan and will be introduced at the beginning of 2017.

As we can depict from the spy photos brought to you via Motor1 magazine, the model is wearing heavy camouflage, which indicates serious modifications. The GT will be wearing a more practical and an evolutionary design.

This means that we should see a completely new set of full LED headlights, while the rear might grow in size for additional space inside. We also expect an overall of 650 liters with the rear seats in place and 1,670 liters with them being folded down.

The 2017 BMW 5-Series GT will share the sedan`s CLAR platform, which means that it will shed off around 100 kilograms.

Under the hood, the 2017 BMW 5-Series GT will pack a wide range of new four- and six-cylinder turbocharged engines, standing side-by-side the all-new 530e and 540e hybrids. As expected, the lineup will be completed by a hardcore M5 with an optional xDrive. The car`s 4.4-liter V8 would output an impressive 626 horsepower. We should also see a hefty dosage of M exterior and interior features.

Rumors according to which the MINI Superleggera Concept, unveiled two years ago, might lead the way for a future production version have been circulating over the internet for some time, but now it is almost a certain thing that this will not happen. Instead, the company is planning a sedan model.

According to Automotive News, Peter Schwarzenberg, CEO at MINI, has declared in an interview that a Superleggera version is not their main purpose, as such a car would be extremely expensive to build and chances are the model might not sell high.

“Halo cars are economically not always great. It is a trade-off: How much does it do for the brand and how do you make it feasible?” Schwarzenberg also concluded.

On the other side, a sedan model would be less expensive and would foresee the ”biggest potential and volumewise.” Fresh news will be known towards the end of the year.

Aside the plans for a new sedan, Shcarzenberg also mentioned that his company is thinking of launching a plug-in hybrid and an all-electric vehicle, the first one arriving next year, while the electric version would be launched much later.

Couple of weeks ago there was too much fuss about the upcoming BMW models coming with an all-wheel drive layout, while the next-generation BMW 1-Series Sedan was also rumored to come with a front-wheel drive configuration, which is set to be cheaper, thus making the heavy competition against the Mercedes-Benz CLA and Audi A3 Sedan, much more bearable.

This time, the 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan is ending up in our news again, through some spy shots provided by the Chinese website auto.sohu.com, which showcase the test mule wearing a camouflaged body with the fake body panels and vinyl tape, all of them revealing almost nothing about the model.

As already discussed in a previous article, the 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan will come with an array of engines under the hood, like the three- or the four-cylinder inline direct injection petrol units, as well as some diesel engines with common-rail technology.

Apart from that, the model is expected to reach China, wearing a longer wheelbase, which will actually complete the gap between the 1-Series Hatch and the F30 3-Series Sedan. Apart from the front-wheel drive layout, the 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan will also emerge with an xDrive version, meaning an all-wheel drive layout. We should expect more details later on.

The Germans from BMW are keen to reveal the new 3-Series Gran Turismo as the fresh sub-segment car to get the practicality package of the 3-Series Tourer, all coupled in a sedan.

The 3-Series Gran Turismo receives some important updates for the body. We are talking about some fresh new kidney grilles and fascia, along with larger headlights.

The new BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo is coming with aero elements that are meant to reduce drag by channeling air found around the front wheels.

At the rear, the car has an active spoiler, with a wing expected to reduce rear lift of the Gran Turismo`s aerodynamics, making it closer to the Sedan.

The taillights are also one of a kind. The Sedan`s 3 Series rear lights have been transformed into a hockey stick-shaped unit, elongated wheelbase for a more stable 17-inch wheels and weight distribution at the same 50:50.

The new BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo, has updated suspension, with tweaks for electromechanical steering.

BMW is receiving a lot of laurels lately, especially now, when Hagerty, the leading insurance provider for classic vehicles, has nominated the F10 M5 as the future classic for its class.

To state Hagerty, F10 M5 is considered that performance sedan with the same old manual transmission ready heading towards extinction.

Since drivers all around the world are looking forward to driving a car with an automatic transmission, BMW is receiving a lot of applause for keeping the manual transmission alive for the segment.

With Hagerty announcing the “Hot list” of the future collectible vehicles, the classic experts made their predictions on the Most Collectible 2014 Model Year Cars.

To enter the “Hot list” of Hagerty, the vehicles must be made within the 2014 model year with an MSRP of less than $100,000.
President of Hagerty, McKeel Hagerty says that while most new cars enhance new high-tech technology and alternative power sources, a collectible future car must retain classic characteristics as a manual transmission.

This is the case of the BMW F10 M5 Sedan, which received the second place on the Hagerty list, after the Jaguar F-Type R, priced at $99,000 and coming with a rear drive platform.

As a major fan of Internet surfing and cars, I watch a certain channel on youtube called drive. Look it up, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Judging by what German magazine Auto Bild is reporting these days, there’s a good chance that somebody at BMW is watching it too. The Bavarians are working on something interesting.

By 2016, BMW will be unveiling a 1 Series sedan. This was an idea I first heard on that particular channel, it made, and still makes a lot of sense.

With the current generation of the 3 Series, the F30, BMW cars have grown in size so much that they’ve caught up to the dimensions of what used to be a 5 Series 20 years ago.

It is quite a bit of time if you think about it and people have evolved by quite a bit since then, but there’s still sufficient room on the market for a small sedan.

Why can’t it be a BMW one?

The trick is that from what we’re getting to know about this interesting new proposal is that BMW isn’t going about doing it in a predictable way.

They will not simply stick a boot on the back of the F20 BMW 1 Series and claim it to be some sort of revolutionary product. The new car will actually be close to the 1 Series GT.

This is because it will have an unusual body shape for BMW, since it will be a notchback sedan. It’s also because it will be a front wheel drive car.

That makes a lot of sense in terms of practicality, even if some purist BMW feel is compromised by the mix.
