The 2015 BMW X3 has received the official blessing for an updated design and new power, soon to be headed towards the US market.

The 2015 BMW X3 is the facelift of the present version, and not the next generation of the X3, as a lot have expected. But customers still have a lot to enjoy at the 2015 model.

The 2015 BMW X3 enjoys updates like new bumpers both at the front and also at the back, new headlights, revised grille, new alloy wheels, with side mirrors being redesigned and new colors for the exterior as well.

You can also enjoy the 2015 model as it offers the xLinepackage, soon to come with a metallic trim, 18- to 19-inch wheels, or you can also choose the M Sport package, coming with aerodynamic body kit, shadow line trim, sport seats or antharacite roof liner.

Under the hood, the 2015 BMW X3 comes with the new-fresh 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, developing 190 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque for the xDrive20d.

The sDrive version also gets the same 2.0-liter turbo diesel but with less power, of around 150 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.

Changes have been made inside too, with the cabin featuring the gloss black accents, updated trim, new cup holsters and revised upholstery.

The iDrive controller with its integrated touchpad and the infotainment system which has been updated, should be enough to make you feel comfortable when driving a long way.

After BMW took the new generation of X6 out for a ride in the cold Sweden, it is now time for the X1 to be spied out for a spin in some heavy winter conditions also in Sweden, but in the much farther North.

It appears that the X1 is a front-wheel drive based car. This is definitely no clear indication that the vehicle won`t sport an all-wheel drive. A little bit of wheel spin detection at the front and all the torque will be send at the back.

Perhaps there are some pure reasons that BMW is trying to put some all-wheel drive on the 2015 X1. In Germany for instance, the cheapest BMW X1 is the sDrive18i with 150 horsepower, with a price from €27,950.

Visit a Hyundai dealership and you will be able to buy a Santa Fe for €29,990, and you might find out that the SUV is bigger and comes enhanced with everything a family might need: flat folding seats, 5 NCAP stars, smartphone connectivity and so on.

This is why perhaps the BMW manufacturer is trying out the new X1, as it might come with a new and bigger platform taken from the F48. The car should also be lighter, more efficient and more practical.

Getting a desirable BMW has just gotten easier. If you have your heart set on a high driving position, the crossover look and a modern bit of kit, you’re in luck.

That’s because the Bavarians have introduced a new entry level version of the BMW X3, a proper one. We’re not talking about a bogus older version being revamped.

It’s titled the X3 sDrive18d which means you get a lesser engine but you do get an F25 model, the latest available after all.

The idea is that BMW cut some costs into the way they load a car with equipment. So the price cutting happens under the bonnet to begin with.

While you may be getting a familiar 2.0 liter turbodiesel engine, it only comes with a 143 horsepower and 266 lb-ft tune.

You also get rear wheel drive to put that power down. Further more, there’s not even an option with how many wheels are driven as xDrive cannot be specified.

In the realm of cog swapping things are also familiar, there’s still a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional eight-speed automatic transmission.

Even at the best of conditions and using the manual (which is quickest) it will take 9.9 seconds to hit 60 and the top speed figure is 121 mph.

Well, you weren’t hoping to buy yourself a BMW X4 M for that kind of money where you? You’ll stick to the more practical, safer option.

Though international pricing is yet to be set, in Germany, the X3 sDrive18d will cost some €36.200.

The names of the cars which leave the BMW factory have always been the same. We have the x-Series models, the X models and the Z ones.

BMW plans on introducing a new name in their line of vehicles, starting with the BMW X1 Concept. Every BMW which has a rear wheel drive will have BMW sDrive attached to whatever its name is. This name change might even be applied to the famous BMW Z4. The X1 concept will be available in two different versions, xDrive and BMW sDrive. Some people don’t agree with this change, but the difference is not that noticeable and the name is very suggestive.

We can suspect that BMW will be making front wheel drive models, rear wheel and four wheel in the future and the sDrive name is just a good way to be clear about the specifications of the vehicle.
