When BMW announced that they will be dropping the S65 4 liter V8 engine, a lot of fans reacted quite badly, as the engine was the heart and soul of their ride.

On the other hand, there are those that are all for the new 3 liter S55 engine set to replace the S65 on the new F80 BMW M3 and F82 BMW M4.

At the recent Detroit Motor Show, the German car maker took the time to present not just the new models they are so proud of (and for good reasons), but also the new power house, which got a stand all for itself. For my two cents, I am all for the change and really don’t understand those who cling to the “old ways”.

The 3 liter biturbo S55 is smaller than its predecessor, yet it produces more horses and more torque while keeping the weight way lower. In conclusion, there is no objective reason why this new engine should not be welcomed with open arms. For slightly more details, watch video below.

With the schism of the 3 Series into two separate models, and thus the M3 and M4, thing are expected to drift apart. All understandable, as both BMW and buyers like to know they the Coupe is just not the same as the sedan.

But while the exterior appearance will bring smiles on everyone’s faces, under the hood things won’t differ that much.

Mostly the same engine line-up will be used on both the M3 and the M4, and for a taste of things to come, BMW released the sound of the new S55 six cylinder unit. While just a small teaser, it does sound quite nice, but when the BMW M3/M4 will have had time to get on the hands of tuners, the sounds will just improve.

The S55 is a straight six cylinder will be displacing 3.0 liters and is expected to bring power to the Bimmers in the vicinity of 450 Hp and 550 Nm of torque. That is enough to propell both the M3 and M4 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. Exact details on the power of the new generation BMW M3 and M4 will surface soon. On December 25 we have posted some details about the F82 BMW M4 which was rendered. Please read that article before reading this.

F82 BMW M4 Coupe makes its appearance again in disguised form. As you can see, the BMW M4 will have some doubled grilles and nervous headlamps, carbon fiber elements, and more attractive aspects as you can see in the pictures.

The rims of F82 BMW M4 and the very innovative and aggressive design make the car to look sexy and to attract all people’s eyes.

My guess is that the mirrors will be the same as the E92 BMW M3 Coupe has. F82 BMW M4 will have an exhaust with 4 pipes and an incredible sound. The style and the ribs of F82 M4’s rear lights offers a pleasant and aggressive look at the same time. I think this car will be one of the most beautiful sports coupe cars sold in the coming years, it will kick all its rivals.

F82 BMW M4 will make its official appearance later this year. Under the hood it will have an S55 engine (3.0 liter – inline 6). This engine will be used for the F80 BMW M3 Sedan.

The output power of the F82 BMW M4 will be 415 horsepower as sources say. F82 BMW M4 Coupe is a very technologized and also one of the most sports cars manufactured by BMW AG.
