BMW is reported to be working on the upcoming i5 plug-in hybrid, a newly addition to the “i” lineup, which would take on the Tesla Model S, once it will be launched on the market in 2020, as the company mentions.

But there have been some rumors form AutoBild Germany circulating over the web lately, according to which the future BMW i5 would emerge on the market sooner, in 2018, with the plug-in hybrid being based on the regular version of the future G30 5-Series. Unfortunately for BMW fans, BMW and its representatives have not yet confirmed these rumors.

But this is not all, as the same AutoBild Germany has also reported that some insiders have let the word out concerning the powertrain the future BMW i5 might be coming with. It is about a 2.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline unit, which would develop around 220 horsepower. On the other hand, the electric motor will come with an additional 150 horsepower, thanks to the Power eDrive configuration. Apart from the overall power, the model is also set to have a mile range of around 78 miles, achievable via a 75 kWh battery.

Also asked about the power configuration under the hood, BMW representatives have not given any explanations on that matter, which is another clue that the work on the future BMW i5 is currently kept secret and that it is less likely to be based on a regular 5-Series model. After all, we are talking about an “i” brand, and all models should be treated as such. Stay tuned for more information on the future BMW i5 in the upcoming period!

BMW has won the big prize with the two one-off hot models, the M3 Sedan and the M4 Coupe and it seems that the German based carmaker is currently working on a new-gen model, at least for the M3 sports car, which is believed to be released somewhere in 2018.

The news have not been yet confirmed, but some reports concluded that the new-gen BMW M3 will come with a choice of new performance goodies, while the engine under the hood is also believed to be receiving some upgrades.

According to the reports, the new-gen BMW M3 Sedan will come with a lot of new performance parts, like the new adaptive suspension and all-wheel drive system, beefier brakes and some more.

Under the hood, the new BMW M3 might lose the 3.0-liter twin turbo six-cylinder unit, in the favor of the new 2.0- and the 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines, developing somewhere between 450 horsepower and 500 horsepower. The 1.5-liter three-cylinder engines are also likely to be introduced on the model.

So we should expect a much more powerful BMW M3 in terms of performance, as opposed to the present model which is still in the cards, with its 3.0-liter twin turbo six-cylinder unit, churning out 431 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. Stay tuned for fresh news!

BMW’s i range green range of cars seem to be more and more talked about these days. The newest bit is focused around the i8 supercar.

According to a couple of reports, BMW already has a price set in mind for the i8 when it comes to the market in less than two years.

This price isn’t a few million as most estimates would call it but a rather modest for a supercar or for something that is partially electric.

Ian Robertson, BMW’s global sales chief reckons the i8 could hit the market at as little as 100.000 euro which is roughly 125.000 USD.

Further more, the BMW i3 would also be priced well since Robertson claims it will be “very competitive” given the technology it’s offered with.

The small hatchback is said to be somewhere around 30.000 on the road so it would technically compete with some of the regular high end hatchbacks.

That seems like a more than fair price which is serious surprise for BMW who seem to be overcharging their consumers lately.

There was even some talk about the way these cars would reach the customers. Dealerships selling BMW’s i range isn’t going to be limited to the newly introduced stores.

The ratio of dealerships out of the grand total in Germany is 45 out of 200. The rest of the world will be getting one that’s less than this “near 1/4” of the Vaterland.

Either way, it all seems like more than plenty. We’re almost certain green folks will find a way to get one and are thrilled to find out the new prices.
