Nobody is debating the leading position that the BMW Group has also taken for the 2014 year, but the German based luxury maker doesn’t rest on its laurels and still thinks big ahead, for the second quarter 2014.

Thus, CEO Norbert Reithofer stated in a shareholders meeting the other days, that the 2014 up ahead would also bring other fruitful opportunities for the group.

“Investment secures our future. Our economic success, innovation and financial strength provide us with the latitude we need to make those investments,” Reithofer also added.

Speaking of the shareholders meeting the BMW Group had a couple of days ago, all members voted for raising dividends, with a record value of 2,60 euros per share, while 2,62 was set for each preferred share.

Thus, the BMW Groups aims at launching an extra 2 million units worldwide for the second quarter of 2014, with the target that would have been reached two years up-ahead.

The BMW Group`s growth plans in Europe as well, might push the European market to an earlier recovery, with also an increase in demand in the company`s other major markets, like China and North America.

BMW North America plans to make some pretty important changes to the way they distribute cars throughout the country.

The focus stays on how new BMW vehicles are stored and shifted among dealer showrooms. In essence, the Bavarians are trying to centralize as much of the process as possible.

Benefits are obvious on both the dealer and the brand side but could pose a bit of an issue when confronted with typical American car buying habits.

Unlike Europe, BMW’s homestead, the Americans are used to buying off the lot. In other words, setting off from home to come back with a new car is going to be a little trickier.

Not that long ago BMW began recommending that customers drop this idea in favor of ordering a car that’s customized exactly to their desire but we’re not sure how well that synced in with the market.

We’re guessing some positive response resulted given the aggression of the new distribution plan.

BMW NA dealers will keep no more than three cars in their showrooms, thus maximizing customer care, profits and the idea of space while minimizing floorplan costs and “standing stocks”.

All other BMW vehicles will be stored at one of three major facilities held by the German company at key locations.

The system itself has already undergone tests with five dealers from San Diego with just 30% of their 3 Series stock being kept at a specific location.

With the results they achieved BMW NA decided to go national with the system and the F10 5 Series will be the first model to get in on the situation.

Sales in the United States of America of BMW Group product, namely BMW and Mini have registered a 9% increase over the past month.

The increase posted 21,111 vehicles sold and is recorded by comparison to sales of the same month of the past year .

Statistics on a year-to-date level indicate that the two brands of the BMW Group were able to sell a total of 76,162 units, or to put it in perspective, there’s a 7.9% growth when put against the sales volume registered in the first four months of 2009. Last month, the BMW brand recorded a 10% sales increase, sales reaching 17,268 vehicles, the year to date sales figures meanwhile post an expansion of 8.8% to total up 63,591 units.

Jim O’Donnell, President of BMW of North America is completely pleased with the result of the past month especially when considering the short supply of the two high volume models as they near the end of their life cycles. For now, O’Donnell is eagerly expecting the new 5 Series and the new X3 to hit the showroom floor unsurprisingly since the F10 5 Series got superb early reviews for the new models.

MINI was able to sell 3,843 units last month, posting a 5.1% sales increase and if you bump the level to a Year to date, MINI posted a 3.3% sales growth reaching 12,571 units shifted.
