BMW released additional details on the Concept X5 eDrive, a prototype revealed for the first time last year but ready for a comeback at this year’s edition of the New York Auto Show.

In fact, we talk about a revised concept which now benefits from 20-inch alloy wheels, new roof rails, a Silverflake metallic finish and special Ivory White leather upholstery inside.

The interior also stands out thanks to the blue ambient lighting, “eDrive” logos for the headrests, piano black trim and contrast stitching.

Power is offered by the same plug-in hybrid powertrain, namely a four-cylinder petrol engine producing 245 horses and an electric motor for extra 95 horsepower. The 0-100 km/h sprint is possible in 7 seconds with average fuel economy figures of 3,8 liters/100 km or 61,8 mpg US.

The German prototype is able to run on electricity alone for about 30 kilometers at speeds up to 120 km/h. We are looking forward to see the revised BMW Concept X5 eDrive at the New York Auto Show this month.

With the New York Auto Show just around the corner, we get new photos with the upcoming BMW X4, a model which will be seen in world premiere in April at the aforementioned event.

The prototype caught at a gas station in Germany wears no camouflage and is very likely the final version of the model. It wears a Deep Sea Blue Metallic finish with 18-inch alloy wheels.

When it debuts, the new BMW X4 will start from €45,600 for the xDrive20d, the next model in range being the BMW X4 xDrive28i at €51,700. The next models are the BMW X4 xDrive30d at €55,100 and the range-topping xDrive35d at €60,100.

Compared to its brothers in the range, the new X4 comes with revised optical blocks, bumpers and grille as well as a swooping roofline.

There are many good looking vehicles out there that took (better) shape under the hands of many tuning companies. And although not every creation is a looker, some do manage to improve on the appearance of the cars from BMW.

But that doesn’t mean the German car maker is without style. And to prove that, they used the New York International Auto Show to display one of their E92 BMW M3.

So this M3 is clad in what BMW calls Frozen Red paint, which was introduced as a limited edition along with the Frozen Blue and Frozen White. BMW also added some other modifications like 19 inch matte black wheels.

High gloss elements include the exhaust tips, the kidney grille and the side gills. A Competition Package ZCP was also fitted. The interior uses black leather, the Novillo kind, all stitched together with nice contrasting thread.

In conclusion it is a sensibly “tuned” E92 BMW M3 (in my mind) that manages to spruce up the looks without doing anything extreme.

The Germans at BMW announced their plans for the upcoming New York International Auto Show, an event which opens its gates on March 27.

There will be several models which will be showcased in New York, but the most attractive ones will be the all-new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo as well as a new BMW 328d.

As you already know, the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower engine producing 240 horsepower and 345Nm of torque. A more potent version motivated by a 3.0-liter unit offering 300 horses is also available.

On the other hand, the BMW 328d is the company’s diesel proposal for the States, a model which makes use of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 180 horsepower and 379Nm of torque. It will enable the German model to sprint from 0 to 100 in 7,2 seconds, highway fuel economy being rated at about 40mpg US.

In other news, the BMW Concept Active Tourer will be also showcased this month at New York.

It happened at the New York Auto Show but we may have gotten caught up in other news that we might have found somewhat more interesting.

The facelifted version of the BMW X6 M SAV got itself a new price tag announced during the event. The sticker now showcases a slightly higher number.

Apparently you’ll need to pay an extra $2600 for the privilege of owning a 2013 BMW X6 M rather than the 2012 version of the same car.

As we’ve explained here, the BMW X6 M gets a mild facelift this year.

Under the bonnet of the BMW X6 M facelift we find the same 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine churning out 555 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque.

The most important bits of the update are the introduction of LED headlights, rearranged kidney grilles and a new set of exterior colors for you to pick from.

Even though the changes are pretty small, the BMW X6 M is still well worth its $93.795 starting price. It’s a bad mix of lines by most accounts but there’s no denying the engineering in it is well worth the money.

It isn’t my cup of tea, but the BMW X6 M is a vehicle I respect. After all, it’s one of the first cars to showcase the BMW M5’s powerplant.

I also appreciate the BMW X6 M for loosing the practicality of the X5 and simply keeping the opportunity to have fun in a big car with four people.

That might sound a little weird but I mean the driving ok?

BMW’s New York Auto Show stand was far from empty this year. The BMW X1 was there, the M5 was there along with the M6 variants and there was even talk of pricing.

The 6 Series Gran Coupe was also there and it is in quite the unusual spot. This has a lot to do with the other models there.

It’s not exactly glamorous or fast enough to keep up with the M Division products but it’s also not as affordable as the X1 CUV either.

The press release that comes alongside with the unveiling of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe includes full pricing disclosure.

Alongside the previously announced 640i GC model, we now know how much the V8 powerplants are going to be going for.

The BMW 650i Gran Coupe will come with a sticker price of $87.395 whereas the 650i xDrive all wheel drive version will come in at $90.395.

Both models are powered by the familiar twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8 which develops 450 horsepower and which is connected to the eight speed automatic gearbox.

The rear wheel drive version of the four door coupe will go from 0 to 62 in just 4.6 seconds while the xDrive version will make better use of the added traction and manage the same feat in 4.5 seconds.

The official market launch for the united states will take place in June for the 640i and the 650 versions will come in about a month later or so.

Next time round we’ll take a second look at the BMW X6 M and the presence of its facelift at the NY show.

BMW have had quite the presence at this year’s New York Auto Show. The unveiling of the 2013 BMW X1 was just the tip of an iceberg.

The real center of attention was, as usual, the M Division’s presence, namely around the BMW M5 and the BMW M6 models of the current generation.

The F10 BMW M5 can’t tell us that many new things about it but the Americans to get to find out what they’re going to be charged to own one so that kind of makes up for it.

Getting yourself what’s currently the best sports sedan on the market in the US will cost you $90.695. What really makes the US version interesting is that within that price you can have a manual gearbox as a no cost option. That’s something Europe doesn’t get.

Moving on to a more exciting version of the same powertrain we find the F12/F13 M6 models. Both the coupe and convertible look stunning and the latter actually got its international debut at this show.

The M6 Convertible comes with a sticker of $113.995. If you can do without the blue skies, an M6 Coupe comes in at a less expensive $106.995.

If however you’re interested in thinking laterally, the 2013 BMW X6M was also present there and its price tag has been set at $93.795. Essentially the same powertrain but you do get four wheel drive this time.

BMW’s New York Auto Show also had the 6 Series Gran Coupe present at their stand. That’s something we’re going to get back to later on.

American ladies and gentlemen, it’s finally here: the 2013 BMW X1 got its facelift and is well on its way to your market, promptly after its showcased in New York.

The New York Auto Show will kick off tomorrow but the Bavarians have given us some photos of the 2013 BMW X1 early along with some details.

We could’ve done with a different color for the unveiling but since this is the United States, we’ll accept the slightly too bright shade of orange.

For 2013 the BMW X1 gets a relatively small facelift as it is now fitted with a revised front bumper, tweaked headlights and new accents, all painted silver.

We see more of the same in the profile and rear end. New skirts and a fresh bumper get teamed to new taillights.

The new look is pretty decent but it’s less than half the story. The interior and the underpinnings need to be considered as well.

Under the bonnet you can have the 2.0 liter turbocharged four pot with 245 horsepower in the xDrive28i or the 3.0 liter turbo straight six with 300 horsepower.

Both engines are quite impressive and, after being sent through an automatic gearbox, can be put to the ground through all four wheels.

You’ll also be able to order it with two wheel drive and in true tradition for driver’s cars, the power will be aimed at the rear ones.

Sales in the US will begin later this year in September with prices starting as low as $31.545. Spec it up and get a bigger engine and you can be looking at over $50.000.

It would seem that the Bavarians plan to unveil the facelift they’ve been cooking up for the 2013 BMW X1 at the upcoming New York Auto Show.

They must be ready with it or something since they’ve chosen an American show otherwise it seems a little weird.

Why? Well mostly because the BMW X1 isn’t sold in the US. Could this be BMW’s way of saying its availability will expand to the “new world”?

That would be quite the surprise since last we heard, the Bavarians weren’t too keen on bringing the miniature crossover stateside.

There are reasons for this, some are more important others are less than so but last we heard, its introduction to the U.S. market was delayed indefinitely.

Prior to that announcement, late 2012 seemed like it would be the launch date. Should the 2013 BMW X1 facelift be introduced at the NY show early next month, a market launch’s timing would come in quite well.

Adding in around six months to that date would in fact see the that original delay announcement come true. The facelift might even calm down the Americans that felt somewhat disappointed by not getting it “on time”.

We don’t expect much more than cosmetic changes to come out of the new facelift and the US market will almost certainly drop the diesel engines.

In fact, most bets would say the 2013 BMW X1 will only be available with the N20 engine. That’s the 245 horsepower, 258 lb-ft of torque, four cylinder, turbocharged unit.
