All-wheel drive vehicles are fun to drive but when you want something more powerful, then you should definitely go for a front-wheel drive system. And if you`re the drifting type, then a rear-wheel drive BMW is the best choice.

Speaking about how comfortable or high-performance an all-wheel drive model is – and here we are talking about a MINI model – Car and Driver wanted to find out if the all-new Cooper S Clubman ALL4 is indeed what customers expect: fast, reliable and extremely agile when pushing the pedal to the metal.

From what the journalists discovered, there were some ups and downs concerning the all-wheel drive version of the Cooper S Clubman. First of all, the tires make the model a bit uncomfortable while steering at high-speeds, the S Clubman all-wheeler coming with standard Pirelli Cintuarto P7 all-seasons. The costs involved is also a serious issue, but all that could be solved by switching to Continental ExtremeContact DWS or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

Also, the model tested by Car and Driver comes with a standard six-manual transmission, hooked to a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four engine, which I think it`s pretty cool. The downsize is that the all-wheel drive layout makes this version heavier, which translates in less performance.

The MINI Cooper S Clubman all-wheel layout packs 189 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, managing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, which makes it a bit slower than the front-wheel sibling. The issue is also addressed to the slower six-manual gearbox.

As a conclusion, the all-wheel drive version of the new MINI Cooper S Clubman is not based on performance and agility, yet works just fine for those who love driving a model with a conventional six-speed manual transmission in style and comfort.

MINI USA has recently announced that the MINI Cooper S Carbon Edition model will be launched in the United States starting January next year, the model being priced from $36,250 in the manual and $37,750 in the automatic version.

The MINI Cooper S Carbon Edition will be an exclusive model, as it will come with the JCW Exterior Package, consisting of the Midnight Black Metallic exterior color with matte black stripes, along with air intake trims, or the carbon fiber mirror caps. The overall design will be complemented by the 17-inch JCW Track Spoke Black wheels.

Moving inside, the cabin of the all-new MINI Cooper S Carbon Edition will sport a revised 8.8-inch high-res screen, including satellite navigation or Bluetooth streaming. Other features refer to heated sports seats, sunroof or the high-performance Harman / Kardon sound system, also found on BMW`s newest models.

Under the hood, the MINI Cooper S Carbon Edition will receive the JCW Pro Tuning Kit, meaning that the standard 189 horsepower will be raised to 208 horsepower. This is possible thanks to the new engine software upgrade.

The aftermarket specialists from the Maxi-Tuner tuning division have recently carried out an upgrade program on the 2015 MINI John Cooper Works, the British based car receiving a power boost under the hood.

We are talking here about an upgrading power kit, which increases the power of this 2015 MINI John Cooper Works by up the 10 percent, while the torque goes higher as well by 23 percent, compared to the current version.

The 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol burner is now outputting 231 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, which is quite impressive. Unfortunately, the Maxi-Tuner shop has not revealed the performance figures, but given the circumstances, this modified MINI John Cooper Works is definitely faster than the stock model, which sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.

But the good news is that the Maxi-Tuner can turn your MINI car as well, the tuning division offering other upgrade kits, which can add up by 29 horsepower and 70 Nm of torque more than the stock performance. The kit consists of a remapped ECU, or the 990 pounds sport exhaust system with the 70 mm tailpipes. So grab your MINI Cooper and take it to Maxi-Tuner for a special upgrade program!

It has been a while since we last heard about a MINI model popping up on the web. But thanks to World Car of Fans online publication, some spy shots with the upcoming 2016 MINI Cooper S Cabrio have been just revelead.

The spy shots are showing a test mule with the 2016 MINI Cooper S Cabrio wearing a slight camouflage at the rear end and the hood, which means that the model will receive some minor changes, before its final debut, at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, this September.

As seen in the shots, the 2016 MINI Cooper S Cabrio was spied at Nurburgring, the hot version coming with the top roof down, while the rear end is likely to receive some body updates, just like the ones seen on the hard top sibling.

Under the hood, the 2016 MINI Cooper S Cabrio is rumored to come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol burner, developing a good 189 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a promising 6.8 seconds, via a six-speed manual transmission, at a topping of 235 km/h. Recalls are not that uncommon nowadays, with various manufacturers either forced or from their own volition trying their best to fix the mistakes that find their way in.

BMW recently had to recall some models, or rather to expand an older recall.

The issue is related to the airbag system, and the models that were added to the recall list are the BMW i3 and the 2014 Mini Cooper. While any kind of issue with the airbag system can be considered an extra risk of injury in the case of an accident, if we were to get down to it, the issue is with the airbag inflator.

Luckily, the total number of models that were added to the recall is just 27 units, which is one the smallest recall numbers i have seen in a while. These include the BMW i3 units built on March 31st and the Mini Cooper units built from February 2nd to May 30th.

It is said that cars with small engines lead to improve fuel economy, but on the other hand, the process itself lead to a serious of problems that might affect the overall car`s engineering.

It is actually the synopsis of a J.D. Power vehicle-dependability study, leading to a serious of statements saying that dependability has severely dropped for the first time in 16 years.

Vehicles to be affected by this phenomenon are less reliable because of the proliferation of their four-cylinder engines.

The problems concern a number of vehicle starting with the 2011 model-year with a rousing of six percent from the year-earlier figures.

The issues are associated with engine hesitation, rough transmission shifting and also lack of power, all subjected to the engines` efforts of struggling for a better fuel economy.

Among the brands of the car, the BMW`s Mini sub-brand was the least reliable, with 185 problems per 100 vehicles for the last year. Then follows the Toyota`s Lexus with 68 problems per 100 vehicles.

The second place is won by Mercedes-Benz with an overall of 133 problems.

Here we got some really cool spy photos with MINI Cooper S Facelift that are revealing us the full design of the car either that the car is camouflaged with camouflage stickers, we can still see the shapes of the car which are revealing us some updates made at the front and rear side.

The spy photos with this MINI Cooper S Facelift were taken in the south of Germany. As I said, there are some changes at the front and rear side including slightly modified air take and camo tape at points on the front bumper.

Also, this MINI Cooper S Facelift comes with new rear lighting and the clusters are including LEDs. The rear bumper will be totally replaced according to the thoughts of the photographer. This MINI Cooper S Facelift will be released next year making part of 2012 generation of cars.

Probably now you feel exactly what I felt when I first read these news. Yes, BMW is going to collaborate with Rolls Royce Auto Maker. More exactly, BMW just agreed that Rolls Royce is going to build a very luxury model of the little MINI Cooper. As I said before, when I first read these news, I didn’t know what to feel first: anger, happy, amaze etc.

At the end, I think that is a very good idea that Rolls Royce to build a new luxury model of the actual MINI Cooper because as we know, all BMWs and also MINIs are luxury as a stock car and now, after this new model, it will be much more beautiful.

On the internet there are just 2 photos with the MINI Cooper model built by Rolls Royce in collaboration with BMW. One is with the exterior, being able to see the side and back part, and the second one is with the interior which shows you what Rolls Royce changed more at this car.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety have recently performed a few tests.

One of the cars which went under scrutiny was the Mini Cooper. Only 3 small cars from a total of 19 which were tested have managed to get great results, the Mini being one of them. The car is average when it comes to side impacts, but it performed great in frontal and rear accidents. The test are conducted in a safe environment and the Mini Cooper was crashed at 40 mph into a stationary vehicle. At the rear side test, another car bumped the Mini at 20mph. In the end, the test have revealed the fact that Mini Cooper is not only a cute, small car, but a vehicle which can coupe with most crashes easily.

Everyone is afraid of buying small cars because of the safety issue, so I guess it is great to know that a few vehicles were tested and performed great.

The 2009 Mini Cooper Cabrio was finally released by the people from BMW, just a few days ago.

The car is available in two different versions, the Mini Cooper Cabrio and the Mini Cooper S Cabrio. The first engine can offer 120 horse power with a 1.6 liter engine, reaching a speed of 123 mph and 60 mph in 9.8 seconds. The car has great fuel efficiency, somewhere around 6 liters/100 km, which is 38.5mpg. The Mini Cooper S Cabrio has the same 1600 cc engine, but it can develop 175 horse power. How is this possible? Direct fuel injection and a turbocharger. The top speed is 138mph and it takes only 7.4 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. The S version will take one liter more at every 100 km.

The most interesting changes took place at the exterior, as we can obviously see from the pictures provided by globalmotors.net.
