The next generation of BMW vehicles is due and the German manufacturer is hard at work testing the prototypes. This allows us to catch the camouflaged vehicles in their raw form. The 2023 BMW M2 has recently been caught during its test run.

The M2 is expected to get a complete redesign after many years. All the new BMW design cues are present, including the quad exhausts, flared wheel arches, and the sporty side mirrors. The new kidney-grille design will also make its way onto the M2. The idea is to make the smaller models stand out. BMW has already wooed the market with the M3 and M4 designs so the M2 will not fall short of expectations.

The BMW M2 will be based on the CLAR platform which it shares with the Z4.

The 2023 BMW M2 is expected to get an underpowered version of the 3-0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine. The powertrain will probably produce around 420 hp, which is an increase of 55 hp.

The 2-series will come out as a 2022 model, which means the M2 version will come out a year later as the 2023 model. The pricing bracket will get a boost thanks to the inclusion of the new engine but there should not be a huge difference.

Australia is the latest market to receive the gorgeous new 2019 BMW M2 and M5, both models arriving locally with the Competition Package.

Each one comes with its own choices in terms of design and interior highlights. What is also interesting, according to Aussie magazine PerformanceDrive, the BMW M5 Competition is the most powerful M5 ever built.

Compared to the standard models, the Competition package brings forward more M goodies on the outside and inside, while under hood, the engine has received a power boost as well.

Already for sale in Australia, the 2019 BMW M2 Competition is available with an entry-level variant called the Pure ($99,900) and adds up the top of the line Competition ($104,900). As for the new M5 Competition, this one comes just in one version, and is priced at $229,900.

But what does each model bring fresh compared to the standard ones?

We`ll start with the 2019 BMW M2 Competition, which is offered with the Pure entry-level and top variant not-Pure one. It rather wears the same styling bits as the standard model, yet it features updated front and rear bumpers and new wheels.

On the other side, the non-Pure variant is even more tweaked with one-off 19-inch alloy wheels wrapping 245/35 and 265/35 Michelin Super Sport tires, along with black front grilles and window trimmings, updated suspension system, or 12-speaker Harman/Kardon high-performance sound system inside the cabin.

In the engine department, both variants of the M2 Competition come with same S55 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine borrowed from the M4, now developing 302 kW and 550 Nm of torque. This allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h 4.4 seconds if hooked to the standard six-speed manual, and 4.2 seconds with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Moving to the 2019 BMW M5 Competition, this is highlighted by the same black exterior accents, along with new suspension system which lowers the car`s ride height by 7 mm. There is also the new set of springs that are 10 percent stiffer, adding adaptive dampers which provide better stance and grip. The model also got the 20-inch forged alloy wheels, wrapped in 275/35 and 285/35, front and rear, respectively.

The BMW M5 Competition also comes as the most powerful M model ever built. The car features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, with 460 kW and massive 750 Nm of torque, paired to an eight-speed automatic with switchable all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is also covered in a mind-blowing 3.3 seconds.

Even if BMW is very busy putting together the final pieces of at least ten models, which will be officially unveiled at the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show (September 12), the German-based carmaker still finds time to secretly test out and plan future models.

Following the 2018 BMW M4 CS, announced back in May, the German firm is also working on the top of the line CS variant from M2, the model being scheduled for an official debut next year, in March.

The details are still kept hidden, however, thanks to a recent report issued by Spanish magazine Motor.es, the model is announced to be limited to a handful of 1,000 examples, making it quite expensive and tweaked with new visual elements and increased power.

Visually, the 2018 BMW M2 CS will look sportier with two new body colour – Sunset Orange and Silver Hockenheim – joining thus the rest of the standard ones found on the regular M2 – Sapphire Black, Alpine White, Long Beach Blue and Mineral Gray.

Thanks to recent spy photos, the new M2 CS is going to adopt updated front and rear ends, more aggressive front grille, bigger wheels and new exhaust system.

Speaking of power, the next CS is likely to use the 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine, the same found on the new M – and not the M2`s single-turbo N55 unit, with power standing at 405 horses and 501 Nm of torque; the 100 km/h sprint is also reported at 4.2 seconds. As for transmission, the model might come with a standard six-speed manual and an optional DCT.

Mode details and full prices are expected to emerge in early 2018, just ahead the car`s presentation in March.

Ever since its official unveiling on the market last year, BMW`s “baby-M”, the new M2 Coupe, has become the loved one in the tuning market, the model popping-up in extraordinary media galleries fully-tweaked with outstanding aero kits and impressive power stages under the hood.

As the auto industry progresses, so does the tuning segment, with the most famous aftermarket shops developing advanced aero packages for their custom rides. And the BMW M2 Coupe is a fancy car that needs to be upgraded to the latest standard in the business.

Another outstanding project that recently caught our attention is the Vorsteiner`s below M2 Coupe, which is still under works. Even so, the tuner added a few pictures and some details with its ongoing program.

The final product will be a real blast, and as we can depict from the photos below, this BMW M2 Coupe will surely make the headlines of every auto magazine worldwide.

It stands out with bespoke front and rear bumpers, as well as with the company`s high-performance wheels. The technicians have installed their new V-FF 107 Flow Forged alloy wheels, which provide better grip and increase its stance, especially since they are made out of aluminum.

The measure 20 x 9 and 20 x 10.5 front and rear, respectively, and finished in Carbon Graphite, increasing the car`s aggressive look.

The car packs an S55 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline straight-six, which is not the same found on the M3/M4, capable of delivering a good 370 horsepower and 465 Nm of torque, capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds when hooked to a DCT, so the figures are almost as much impressive as an M3.

After being rumored and caught on shots many times, the BMW M2 will be finally showcased at the 2015 NAIAS, Detroit, next January.

We are not talking here about an official confirmation from the German based luxury carmaker, but a recent report released by Auto Express, states the presence of the BMW M2 at the 2014 NAIAS, in Detroit.

The news is also confirmed by Carsten Priest, the chief at the M`s department, mentioning that the M2 will take over the battle left by the 1M Coupe.

The BMW M2 will sport a more aggressive body kit than the M235i, while under the hood, the sports car will pack a 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit, also seen on the M3 Sedan, M4 Cabrio and the M4 Coupe.

Even so, this particular model will sport less power, meaning a total output of 374 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque, hooked to a 6-speed manual transmission, or the optional 7-speed automatic M DCT.

The BMW M2 might hit its dealerships at the end of the next year.

While still no official press release was issued, we do have a word about the imminent release of the BMW M2, what is to be the successor of the 1 Series M.

Even better, it seems we even have some power figures regarding the engine and its output after the M Division is done fiddling with it.

First off, while this news is surely exciting for a quite a lot of people, let’s remember that the soonest we will actually see this car on the streets is 2016. Seems to me that BMW calculated this so that the hype it will generate will not overlap with the release of the BMW M4.

The BMW M2 will be using the same six cylinder engine which currently powers the BMW M235i, but with a few modifications. These modifications will take it from a respectable 321 Hp to somewhere between 375 and 395 Hp, which makes for a respectable boost. With the aid of either a six speed manual or eight speed automatic transmission, the BMW M2 will be able to reach 100 km/h in just above 4 seconds.

The BMW German division is receiving success after success with its 2-Series being an instant hit at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and with its expansion plans for the 2- Series in Australia.

But the German luxury manufacturer doesn’t stop here, as it goes forward with the possibility of launching a new brand, which might be the M2.

The very likely M2 might be the little brother of the 2-Series, resembling its bigger M235i in what concerns its full specs and design, both at the exterior and also inside.

As the M235i indicates, the new series might be lighter, more tuned and with a whole lot of power involved than the actual M235i. It would be a serious indication that the M2 might lose some 300 pounds for the US model.

And the key to success is having more power into a lighter car. So we might also be talking about an impressive performance of the new M2 which would sport a powerful engine developing somewhere around 400 horsepower between the M235i and the S55 from the new M3 and M4.

If it will arrive, the new M2 might be hitting the market before the 2016 model year, with an auto show debut sometime in late 2015 or early 2016.

As you should know if you are a reader of the BMWCoop blog we posted lately some sketches of the BMW M2 Concept but I also found on the internet some older sketches with this BMW M2 and of course that the care from photos looks much different than this one.

Even if there are just two photos with this concept, you don’t need more to make an idea of how would look this BMW M2 Concept in reality, at last I did this. Making a comparison, it’s normally that the BMW M2 Concept from 2009 than the concept from these photos.

There is something that anyone would notice namely that this BMW M2 Concept looks from the front side exactly like the 2011 BMW 1 Series Coupe. Also, with this color I can also say that it looks like BMW ActiveE Concept. Anyway, I think that three are chances for this BMW M2 Concept to be built in not less than 5 years.
