While Europe is already enjoying the i3 and has seen plenty of the i8 sportscar, the American market had to made due with only what the internet offered.

Well, no more, as the German car maker has finally brought the two models on display at the Los Angeles Motor Show.

While the first peaks were only reserved for press representatives, the i3 didn’t fail to make a great first impression on the new continent. It seems that some 8.000 orders have already been placed, taking the manufacturer by surprise. BMW is even considering increasing the capacity the plants work at, in order to avoid delays in delivery.

The BMW i8 can’t be ordered yet, but considering the success of the i3, chances are good that the sportier hybrid will also sell, even if it’s still a few months out. As for the small i3 EV, the US pricing will start at $41.350, but since government incentives are almost a certainty, you can expect to pay less.

The Germans at BMW officially unveiled the new 4 Series Convertible, ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. The open-top model is very similar to the rest of the range in terms of design, except the three-piece retractable hardtop.

According to the company, the new roof can be operated at speeds up to 18 km/h in about 20 seconds. The boot capacity is now 370 liters (roof up) and 220 liters (roof down).

The base model in the U.S. is the BMW 428i powered by a 2.0-liter engine offering 240 horses and 345Nm of torque.

A more potent 300-horsepower 3.0-liter engine can be found on the BMW 435i, providing a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5,5 seconds.

We won’t get too much into the technical details as they are very similar to what you’ll get on the BMW 4 Series Coupe. Instead, we will point out some interesting features that BMW offer on the Convertible model.

To be more specific, we talk about the Cold Weather Package which adds neck warmers for the driver and front passenger. These will help you cruise with the roof down even when it’s cold outside.

With the new BMW 4 Series Convertible to make its official debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show next month, we get a closer look at the open-top BMW 4 Series thanks to some leaked images.

We believe that these photos are part of an official brochure, namely from the accessories brochure as it shows the capabilities of transporting a bike on the rear rack.

The new model will benefit from a metal folding roof which will be stored in the trunk, taking quite important storage space.

Other than that, it keeps the same styling features of the Coupe model while borrowing the engine range as well. Therefore, expect a wide range of petrol and diesel units, mainly four-cylinder engines. More powerful six-cylinder turbocharged powertrains are also expected to be offered.

The all-new BMW 4 Series GranCoupe made another appearance showing more metal than before.

The German model is expected to debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show in November and will be the third in the range after the Coupe version seen this summer and the Convertible which is very close to its debut at Frankfurt.

The BMW 4 Series GranCoupe should benefit from a larger wheelbase providing more interior space. As these images show, the rear end is where we will find most of the aesthetic changes.

In terms of power, there will be several units from the standard Coupe such as the 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter turbo units producing from 200hp to 300hp.

We expect to see more details and photos in the coming weeks, if the rumors that the model will debut at LA are really going to be true.

It seems that the previous rumors saying that BMW prepares a new i concept model for the Los Angeles Auto Show were true.

The German car maker officially announces that a new member of the i family will be showcased at the upcoming automotive event in Los Angeles.

According to current assumptions, the new model could be called i4 being based on the well-known BMW i3. The new model could benefit from an electric motor offering 170 horsepower and 250Nm of torque, proving to be a more potent variant of the i3.

“The first two vehicles under the BMW i brand, the BMW i3 and BMW i8 will come to market in 2013 and 2014, respectively,” says BMW.

Along with the new BMW i Concept, the company will present the new BMW i8 Roadster Concept, a plug-in hybrid powered by a three-cylinder petrol unit and an electric motor for a total output of 349 horsepower.

The open-top variant of the BMW i8 sports car is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds hitting a top speed of 250 km/h.

Last we heard, BMW were cooling down their efforts with the i Range products. The hybrid and electric cars were in a bit of a bad phase at the time.

Could things be turning around for these tree hugging vehicles? Or maybe it’s just the way the guys at BMW think about the future of the market.

This is so because there’s a rumor that’s started going round about a car called the BMW i4. This would be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

That’s an event less than a month away. Obviously we don’t know everything about BMW’s business and so on but we had a feeling we would have heard about it before.

We’ll admit to that miss and just wait for the car to be unveiled as a coupe-ish version of the fresh i3‘s design can’t be anything but welcome.

I still have my doubts about the way this car seems to have popped up out of nowhere, but even I have to admit, Los Angeles is the place.

If anything that is deemed to save the world gets adopted by the elite from that particular corner of the world, the effect will likely snowball.

Under the bonnet we’d expect the same drivetrain as the i3 but it should have something to make it stand out from the standard 168 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque setup.

Or maybe it won’t, maybe this will be a car that is more focused on the final bits of the fuel economy and range parts of the equation rather than the sporty side.

The BMW 7 Series unveil took place a few days ago, at the LA Auto Show. Like usual, BMW remained the attraction of the show and everyone tried to take a closer look at the BMW 7 Series.

BMWs CEO spoke about the brand in general and the BMW 7 Series in particular, a name which started to resonate in the auto market 30 years ago. The new model will be launched in the spring of 2009, in the United States. Some say that the best part of the BMW 7 Series is the engine. Unlike most BMWs, this car will be a hybrid, without giving up on the raw power which we have been accustomed to.

The main advantage of the vehicle is fuel consumption. Not many people believed that a powerful car like the BMW 7 Series could take 15% less fuel than other cars in the same class. In the end, the car manages to offer power, low emissions and low fuel consumption – all in one beautiful package.
