The long battle for supremacy on the US luxury market is still taking place between the world`s first carmaker BMW and the world`s third auto manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, this being said, Audi or Volkswagen are out of the questions.

And now we have the official figures of both models in US, with June as the middle sales rank. And BMW has managed to keep the upper hand against Mercedes-Benz, with 5.6 percent more sales to be made, meaning 32,176 units to be sold in June.

On the other hand, Mercedes-Benz managed grow its sales by 5.8 percent over the last year`s period, with just 3,653 cars, even if as a whole, the later managed to have a 8.8 percent increase, while BMW took 7.1 percent, for the same January to June period.

With 168,623 units to be sold from January to June, BMW is closely followed by Mercedes-Benz, with 164,970 vehicles, while Lexus taking the third place, with 21,121 units, which means 11 percent over the same last year`s period.

Audi, another major player in the US, scored fourth place, with 8.3 percent achieved last month, and an overall sales of 93,615 cars being sold for the first half of the year.

Another month, another opportunity to look into how well our favorite brand is doing. The news are looking quite good at the end of April.

BMW’s books have managed to score yet another new record. The figures come in at 145.505 vehicles sold for the first time ever by the company.

I should probably make it clear that those are the sales for the BMW Group, not just the infamous roundel brand. This stuff includes Mini and Rolls Royce.

The boost of the BMW Group’s April month is translated in a boost of 6.1 percent compared to the same month of 2011. Widening the search to the first four months of 2012, things look even more impressive.

A total of 571.040 units were sold, making for a 9.8 percent boost over last year when 519.958 units had been sold. This is yet another record for BMW.

We don’t know how many units Rolls Royce managed to sell, but Mini managed some 3.772 units, a boost of 1 percent on top of the previous year’s April figure.

At this point it’s obvious that the largest amount of sales come from the BMW brand itself. No clues are awarded for the locations that attracted the biggest growth spur.

Once again its Asia, particularly the Chinese region, which grew by 30.8% compared to last year’s April. The entire region will have grown by 25.1%.

In terms of model options, the largest growth is attributable to the F20 1 Series and the F30 3 Series at 68.3%, respectively 30.8% on top of 2011’s April.

Did I mention that these results are the ones that keep BMW at the top of the sales pile in the luxury car market.

A new BMW M5 is always going to be a car that will create a lot of expectations, a car that will meet those expectations and surpass them every time. This must be one of the reasons why the Bavarians are testing it round the Nurburgring so thoroughly.

With that in mind, every time a major manufacturer is putting an eagerly expected new model (and seriously now, is there anything you’re looking to more than the F10 M5?) somebody manages to snap some photos of it out in the wilds. Even though there is some camouflage on it, fanatics will still be able to tell other what to expect.

In the case of the 2011 F10 BMW M5 what you will be getting is a bulky M3 inspired front fascia, something expected as Adrian Van Hooydonk stated not long ago that future BMW’s will unify design in order to synchronize with global taste of the customers.

Other interesting looks of the car come with the hood that be one of those tight t-shirts that cover up a flexing muscle such as the massive engine that will be in the new M5 and the wheels this car is running on. Not bad, not bad at all.

Leaving looks aside, i have to say i’m quite thrilled at how flat the car is throughout this bend and how well it hits the apex, BMW will keep the M5 as a leader i’d say.
