The E92 BMW M3 racer that Jeff Koons turned into an art car for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race that took place two years ago is back on form.

It isn’t racing, but it’s making up for not being able to fly round the race track back then. This special car just learned to fly. Literally.

As part of a very unusual photo shoot for a car, the Bavarians flew their one of a kind car on top of Pulpit Rock. That’s a place in Norway where the view is breathtaking.

The lift was done with a helicopter and there were some pretty brave fellas waiting up there already to secure the landing point.

It’s quite the interesting process to watch but the view that comes out of the whole thing is simply mind blowing. You just don’t see stuff like this everyday.

The whole thing took place on the 21st of August 2012, mostly because the weather wasn’t up to the job until then. Apparently, Norway isn’t weather friendly, not even in the summer.

Now that the scene was set, the guys at BMW posted a still on Facebook a couple of days ago and left us hanging with desire to see the rest.

Granted, there’s not that much outside the view in this frame to benefit from but we’d love to see a couple of thousand extra pictures taken on location.

After all, the BMW M3 GT2 Art Car is quite the eye catcher and that jaw-dropping landscape is very hard to get tired of.

It would seem that BMW’s win at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and their rejoining to the Le Mans calendar is bringing along quite a few business opportunities for tuner companies.

First there was G-Power and now we have the turn of the Illinois-based tuning house, GTHaus to have a go at giving your BMW M3 a GT2 racer look.

Since it is GT2 inspired you’ll find a pretty similar livery to what the Bavarians ran at Nurburgring, since they couldn’t have done Jeff Koon’s BMW Art Car livery which will be running at Le Mans.

Since the livery is nice in pleasant I’ll leave it at that, GTHaus is also offering the Aero bits gathered together to form a wide body kit for the car. The kit includes massively wide rear fenders, a unique front bumper with splitters, chunky side skirts, new rear bumper with air vents, vented hood and a rear wing the size of an aircraft carrier deck. Well, not exactly but it’s still pretty big. There’s also a very impressive looking set of wheels to match involved.

Looks fine but you’ll be thinking about what’s under the bonnet. Well, disappointingly theres nothing other than the standard BMW M3 engine and all the bits that go with it. Now I’m not going to be an idiot and say that’s not good enough but somehow I was expecting more.

That “more” may come at a later time in the form of a supercharger kit but until then you can get this kit and make your M3 look like you’re driving home from a hard day’s work at… Sebring for just $12,500.

BMW’s 17th Art Car, a racing tradition spanning more than 35 years, was officially unveiled at a special event last night at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, France.

The artist chosen by the Bavarians for this creation is American Jeff Koon, who first showed us a sketch of his creation almost a couple of months ago.

The final version is here and is actually ahead of schedule to our rejoice and it is based on the BMW M3 GT2 Racer. This racing version of the E92 M3 has already clocked up a momentous win at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and will now feature this great looking livery at the crucible of endurance racing, the infamous 24 Hours of Le Mans.

According to creator, Jeff Koons, this livery signifies the power and energy that transcends to us from the BMW racing car and his chosen theme is this transcending of the immense power under the bonnet and his ideas to the real world.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place from June 12 to 13 and the preparations undergone for it by the BMW M3 GT2 are as follows, the 4 liter V8 engine is capped at 500 horsepower, the chassis has been upgraded and so have the brakes and weight saving program in order to give the car a fighting chance.

Besides the technology there’s always the people to consider for such an event and BMW’s team for their comeback to Le Mans are Andy Priaulx, Dirk Muller and Dirk Werner.

BMW M3 ALMS was scheduled to launch next years. Its first appearance in an official race will take place at the Sebring race, in March of 2009. However, it was spotted in Atlanta at the Georgia track.

Racing fans can now take advantage of four clear pictures of the new BMW M3 ALMS. Unlike most spy photos, we can clearly see everything we need to realize that the BMW M3 ALMS is a great car. This is the GT version and we have to wait and see if the performance of the BMW M3 ALMS will reach the beauty of the design. Apparently, the wheels of the BMW M3 ALMS were created in collaboration with Rays Engineering.
