The design of the all-new 2017 BMW 5 Series is a truly inspiration for other models, the luxurious sedan being already defined as that piece of German engineering that “combines presence aesthetic appeal and functionality in equal measure”, as Karim Habib, CEO of Design also mentioned.

Compared to the previous generation, the all-new 5-Series has grown significantly in size, even if the numbers show just a slightly modified body styling. It is by officials 1.2 inches longer, 0.3 inches wider and 0.6 inches taller, with an overall wheelbase of 117.1 inches.

The 2017 G30 BMW 5 Series also comes with the latest technology in terms of lighting, featuring twin circular headlights, while the headlights housing are connected with the kidney grille and which makes the car`s width more standout.

The model also features the famous LED Adaptive headlights coming as standard and which make it extremely appealing to the eye and quite sexy. As for the Adaptive FULL Headlights, they come with daytime running lights and accentuates the car`s width as well, thanks to their hexagonal shape that meet the kidney grille.

From the side, the silhouette of the new G30 5 Series is extremely aggressive with the rear cell for the passengers being set back and creating a flowing roofline to the rear end, while the short front overhang reveals the car`s sporty attitude. The same Habib also explains the choice for such an extravagant look and styling:”For the first time, the new BMW 5 Series Sedan brings together two traditional BMW design elements which are normally separate from one another. The swage line turns up as it heads rearwards, moving from shadow to light and sweeping up the Hofmeister kink in its path rather than continuing into the rear. This upwards motion lends the car a forward-surging character, and the expressive, swooping surface imbues it with an undeniable muscularity.”

As for the rear, the styling is so perfect that it can actually lower the center of gravity, creating a dynamic and sporty feel. We are looking here at a low-slung and width-accentuating design with the rear lights adding a connection between the flanks and rear end. Also, the “L” shape given by the LED bars accentuates the car`s width at the back.

Still at the rear, we find the exhaust tailpipes, symmetrically displaced on both sides but can be circular or trapezoidal, depending on the type of the engine equipping the version.

As we could see, the entire design is extremely evolutionary providing the model with unique aerodynamics, offering at the same time efficient dynamics, thanks to the already mentioned active kidney grille slats for the radiator, or the Air Curtains up front which connect with the Air Breathers to reduce air turbulence in the wheel arches and channel the air while being driven on the roads. The model is indeed highly aerodynamic efficient, thanks to the underbody airflow-channeling elements, reducing dynamics at high speeds at the same time.

The all-new 5 Series also comes with a low drag coefficient with elements and details that reduce the drag coefficient by 10 percent as opposed to the previous model. This means that the 5 Series in all its versions will come with active air flap control for the radiator, which opens the louvres in the kidney grille and lower air intakes when cooling is needed.

Besides the extraordinary and advanced body styling features that also prove effective and improve the car`s aerodynamics, the 2017 G30 BMW 5 Series also comes with a lot of important stylish elements, depending on each version involved. There are 13 exterior colours available, with 11 metallic colour shades, customers also choosing between three lightweight alloy wheels, like the 18-, 19-, as well as the 20-inch wheels.

Also, the carmaker decided to make the new 5 Series sportier than before, adding as well a number of details that will make it stand-out from the crowd and increase its personality. We should also mention the high-gloss black or the 18-inch Double Spoke lightweight alloy wheels, chrome window surround, chrome kidney grille bars, front and rear bumper trim, and a few more.

The sporty elements are also reflected by the car`s choice of two packages offered within the Sport Line and Luxury Line, adding other stylish elements according to the customer`s own wish.

The Sport Line package adds the 18-inch alloys with a bi-colour polished finish, adding illuminated aluminum door sill strips with BMW logo and the Sport Line badging, while the interior comes with BMW sports seats with leather covers, BMW sports leather steering wheel and so on.

The Luxury Line on the other hand is even more standout, with the aforementioned chrome kidney grille bars, Air Breathers or window surrounds, while inside, the cabin gets the same aluminum door sill strips with the BMW logo and Luxury Line lettering. Other features inside also refer to leather covers with contrasts stitching, decorative inlays shine, brighter light surrounding the interior and so on.

After seeing the gorgeous all-new 2017 G30 BMW 5 Series in massive photo, impressive wallpapers and video gallery and reviewing its key elements like exquisite exterior design and main interior highlights, it is high time we continued our 5 Series saga with another important aspect, which is the technology that the luxurious sedan is coming with.

Just like the 7-Series and future models from BMW, the 2017 BMW G30 5 Series enhances the most advanced technology available on the market today, the new model setting the benchmarks on that matter. The exceptional features are indeed worthy to be mentioned in this article.

What the all-new 5 Series brings forward is the BMW ConnectedDrive Services and business technologies, with the main emphasize on the relationship between the driver, car as well as the surroundings, all of them adding increase efficiency and comfort for both the driver as well as the passengers inside.

As we could depict from the massive media gallery from a previous article, the all-new G30 BMW 5 Series is a benchmark concerning parking technology, the sedan featuring the Remote Control Parking system which allows 5 Series drivers to park the car in the narrowest spaces without getting out of the car or getting worried about any incidents. Another important technology that the new 2017 G30 BMW 5 Series is bringing forward is the 3D Surround View, which allows driver to constantly monitor every move of his car. We are dealing here with a bird`s eye view and a three-dimensional image of the area that surrounds the vehicle, meaning that the system can see and observe everything around the car, including obstacles on the way, pedestrians, incoming traffic, all of them keeping the car alert in case of an emergency. Also, with the BMW Connected App, all the images recorded on the car`s infotainment system can be downloaded and monitored from the driver`s smartphone, keeping thus track of everything that happens in real time situation.

The Remote Control Parking, Parking Assistant and 3D Surround View systems are closely connected to the ParkNow and On-Street Parking Information services. The latter two offer a view on the parking spaces available on a particular street, offering additional services like reserving or paying for a parking spot. The reservations can be made on the go from the navigation system or in advance via the ParkNow smartphone application.

More than that, the On-Street Parking Information (OSP) represents one of the cutting-edge technologies that the 5 Series is coming with. It is the ideal system that you can use while being caught in traffic in a big-crowded city, and is extremely easy to use. It automatically searches for parking spaces available near you, and suggests the best available spaces by showing a color coding on the navigation. It is up to you to decide which would be the best viable solution.

Other standout technologies that BMW has implemented on the all-new 5 Series are the Wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Wi-Fi Hotspot. The Wireless charging technology allows every passenger to wirelessly charge his/her smartphone using the inductive charging tray located in the center console. The wireless charging system works hand-in-hand with the Wi-Fi Hotspot, meaning that you can navigate the internet while charging the smartphone. As for the AppleCar Play compatibility, the system is part of the iDrive technology which uses the iDrive Controller or the Touch Screen to operate the car`s apps via smarpthone.

There are also other technologies that the 5 Series is coming with, such as BMWConnected, navigation system with realistic 3D graphics, Amazon Alexa system which uses voice commands to check the car`s functionalities, like battery charge, fuel level, and much more. Also, the ConnectedDrive Services allows access to BMW`s own services by using the Wi-Fi hotspot, which are free of charge – ARTTI (Advanced Real Time Traffic Information), Intelligent Emergency Call, etc.

The 2017 BMW G30 5 Series is an exceptional sedan, featuring an exquisite design and the latest technology inside, with the cabin also boasting with the latest high-end materials and plethora of systems that improve the sedan`s driving capabilities and offer the best comfort and luxury to all its passengers.

We have already described the beautiful interior of the all-new 5 Series and now it is high time we explained the technical specifications for each version.

In terms of performance, the all-new 5 Series is way above its predecessor, coming with new technology, highlighted by the new BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, all versions of the G30 coming with the modular BMW EfficientDynamics engine lineup, which proves to be extremely lightweight, thermodynamically optimized all-aluminum construction. All these attributes make the car`s engine lineup extremely efficient and in compliance with the EU6 emission standard.

While the petrol burners come with the TwinScroll turbocharghing technology, High-Precision Injection, Double-VANOS variable camshaft control or Valvetronic fully variable valve timing, the diesels are also extremely high-performance, thanks to the new turbocharger with variable turbine geometry or the common-rail direct injection, generating injection pressure of up to 2,500 bar. There are also the diesel exhaust system with the BMW`s Blue Performance technology.

Once arriving on the market first on the 1st of February, the G30 5 Series will be available in the BMW 530i/BMW 530i xDrive, BMW 540i/BMW 540i xDrive, BMW 520d/BMW 520d xDrive, and BMW 530d/BMW 530d xDrive. There are also other high-end versions to follow starting March 2017, these ones also coming with impressive performance specifications: the BMW 530e iPerformance, BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition, as well as the BMW M550i xDrive.

Following the exciting debut of the 2016 BMW 7-Series last year, the 2017 G30 BMW 5-Series model unveiled online is perhaps the most anticipated and long-expected model from BMW, that high-end ride that everybody has been talking about.

There are tons of appreciations to be addressed to the 2017 BMW 5-Series and perhaps words are necessary at this point. And giving its resemblance with the 7-Series in styling, interior and technological enhancements, as well as the plethora of high-end engines under the hood, the G30 BMW 5-Series will definitely be an instant success.

At the exterior, the new 5-Series comes with a bigger platform, the model gaining significant inches in size, bringing it closer to the 7-Series.

In terms of visuals, the model will be offered from the start with the M Sport Package, meaning the M Aerodynamic kit with custom front apron with wider air intakes, side skirt trims, diffuser-style rear apron, exhaust system with two rectangular tailpipes, adding the Shadowline trim, lowered suspension system as well as the 19-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the model is also looking exclusive with the M parts, visible on the three-spoke leather steering wheel, SensaTec upholstered dashboard, aluminum pedal covers and footrest, custom floor mats, optional Black Dakota Leather with contrast Blue stitching and so on.

In the technology department, the all-new 5-Series is indeed highly-advanced, the model coming with a plethora of gizmos that would make jealous even a 7-Series owner.

The car`s main highlight is the autonomous driving technology already previewed in former discussions, and which can communicate with other BMWs, using different voice systems, a feature that will also underpin the next year`s BMW 7-Series. Of course, don’t expect anything like “I`ll park the car for you”, but it will park your car safely and taking into account the surroundings, via the ParkNow feature.

Other important features also refer to gesture control, Intelligent voice control, touchscreen as well as the iDrive 6.0 touchpad Controller, some of them already being highlighted on the last year`s 7-Series. Let`s not forget the now already commonly used tech goodies like entertainment, navigation, telephone and other functions which can be observed on the high-end 10.25-inch screen and controlled via the aforementioned iDrive Controller or by gestures and voice controls.

As for the safety features, the new 5-Series has got plenty of it. We are looking here at the most advanced gizmos, like the Driver and Parking Assistance Systems, Adaptive Mode with Dynamic Damper control, adding the latest Head-Up Display, Remote 3D View, new Voice Control, Remote Control Parking or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

In the engine department, the 2017 G30 BMW 5-Series comes with a wide choice of engines, and that thanks to the car`s new CLAR platform, all built from lightweight materials like carbon fiber or aluminum.

We should mention the all-new 2.0-liter flat-four inline engine with 248 horsepower in the 530i version, adding the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder with 335 horsepower, in the 540i. The new 5-Series will also spawn a much more potent M5 and M550 diesel, with improved performance and additional styling features.
