Even if the newest Ford Focus RS is no match for many other sports cars within its class, some new challengers might give it the proper headache, and that one might be no other than the hot M140i from BMW.

Video below, created by AutoTopNL has put together both outstanding models for an acceleration and sound check-up, both models coming with impressive driving capabilities and performance under the hood, and that thanks to their advanced aerodynamics.

The testing was carried out on Autobahn, in Germany, which is the perfect place for drag races or straight line challenges. But before you take a closer look at the video, please find below some information that you have got to know before placing your bet on your favourite model.

To start with our beloved BMW M140i, the top of the line variant from the 1-Series comes fitted with an I6 turbocharged engine, which develops 320 horsepower, being sent to the rear wheels via a high-performance automatic transmission with an open-differential. It also comes with the optional all-wheel drive system.

On the other hand, the Focus RS`s 2.3-liter turbocharged churns out 350 horsepower, paired to a six-speed manual and all-wheel drive, with new differential and some other fine mechanics, which all together makes it the favourite of our test.

Famous AutoExpress auto magazine has recently organized a track test putting the BMW M2 Coupe and Ford Focus RS side-by-side.

Aside the sheer differences between the two models concerning prices, equipment, features inside and mechanics, the magazine wanted to offer us the opportunity of seeing two exquisite models in action on the track, best highlighted in the video below.

We will not spoil the moment, but before seeing both cars on the track, we should first highlight the main attributes that each one is coming with.

First, the BMW M2 Coupe is the German carmaker`s latest edition in terms of exquisite performance, coming with impressive performance figures on the track.

It packs a powerful 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbon flat-six engine, with 370 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. It is also mated to a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission, which allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, at a topping of 250 km/h.

On the other hand, the Ford Focus RS packs a 2.3-liter EcoBoost flat-four engine, with 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The power is sent to all-wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is done in 4.7 seconds.
