Besides the all-new 2016 BMW 1-Series lineup and the M140i topper recently seen in some spy photos, the Bavarian carmaker is also planning the introduction of the all-new hot M240i from the 2-Series.

Seen here in the first batch of photos courtesy to Bimmertoday online auto publication, the 2016 M240i is set to arrive this summer, the top of the line from the 2-Series coming with the same M Performance Parts, just like the l-Series sibling.

The model will be available in the Coupe and Convertible versions, with prices to start from $44,150 without the $995 destination fee.

As we can depict from the photos, the model is wearing the gorgeus Sapphire Black body wrap, along with the custom front bumpers and side mirrors coming in Feric Grey accents, adding new suspension which lowers the car by 10 mm, making it more stable on the road.

The interior sports much of the same M goodies as the smaller 1-Series sibling, like the M Driver`s footrest, M leather on the steering wheel, Alcantara sports seats and more.

In the engine department, both versions will pack an upgraded 3.0-liter B58 engine, with 340 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The performance figures will differ from one version to another. The Coupe manages a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds with the manual and 4.6 seconds with the automatic. The Convertible is a little bit slower, with 4.9 seconds with the manual and 4.7 seconds with the Steptronic transmission.

Even if the 2016 BMW M240i is extremely powerful, it is also quite fuel-efficient, burning out 7.1L/100 km in the coupe and 7.4L/100 km in the convertible.
