Nobody has ever realized that the two big carmakers, the BMW and the Tesla, offering electric models on the market and competing each other endlessly, will meet up and discuss the future of electric cars.

We are talking about a meeting that the BMW German based automaker and the Tesla carmaker from North America had last week, when officials discussed about the technological “advancements in the segment.”

The sole purpose of the meeting was to find out solutions on how they should deal with the limited range of their batteries or how should extend the number of the charging stations and much more.

Even if they are competitors, the idea was that both of them were willing to make some compromises in order to “strengthen the development of electro-mobility on an international level,” as a spokesperson from BMW also stated.

The Tesla carmaker has been the top America`s best green seller, managing to hit the US market with its successful Model S luxury electric car, while the BMW automaker has tried to push the United States market with its “i” electric cars.

The BMW “i”`s owners now get their chance of using the BMW Smart Charging App, powered by Genability, that allows drivers to charge their vehicles during the moment of the day when the electricity costs less.

Thus, when charging your “i” electric car, this process could save you money, which might be around $400 per year, as representatives of the company state.

But in order to get the BMW Smart Charging App, you should lease a BMW ActiveE, or an i3 electric. Soon enough, the BMW Smart Charging App will also be available for the i8 as well, starting with 2015.

The app is simple to use, as it has to be fit to the BMW “i” Remote App, linking thus the BMW ConnectedDrive interface to let drivers monitor the charging process.

The BMW German based luxury automaker has big plans with its electric models, as it also plans to hit the Chinese market by 2019.

The German automaker is has already convince the Chinese government that the era of electricity in a country full of pollution, would be in the benefit of its own people.

Thus, the Chinese market would have to add more charging stations and would thus promote the selling of the clean cars that the BMW has to offer.

Karsten Engle, the boss at BMW in China, has already predicted a strong future collaboration for some time, and now, the deals in that particular matter has already became a reality.

“We expect that the Chinese car market for electromobility will become the largest markets for those cars in a few years,” Engel also stated.

The Chinese municipality also intends to build up 46 charging stations, starting with the former World Expo site, that would provide electricity for the BMW`s electric vehicles.

The first move that the BMW would make, would be launching the second “i” sub-brand model, the plug-in hybrid sports car, after the i3 has already been introduced last November.

BMW is on a big role with its i green cars and thinks that the cards are in its hands, with no important competitors to face, not even from Tesla Motors.

We are talking about the major advantages that the German base luxury car manufacturer has with two of the most important units: the i green 3 car and the i8 hybrid.

Senior vice president for the BMW`s product management at, Hildegard Wortmann, states that electricity is a very important part of our lives and has to be taken as it is.

The same happens to electric cars that have really begun to take their share on this particularly market.

More than that, the BMW`s main aim is to learn more and be consequent in terms of electricity. Its sole purpose is not only launching i cars, but understand the principle and taking advantage of this kind of power.

Thus, the BMW team will take this newly enhanced knowledge about electricity and use it wisely in developing more advanced green cars than the already successful i3 fully electric.

We will slowly but surely see BMW coming up with more solutions on how to keep their quest on the green market, coming up with other revolutionary products in that field.
