The BMW i4 is under its testing phase, which means a lot of spy shots have been circulating the internet trying to make sense of the upcoming design. The latest photos have revealed a lot more than before, including details of the front-grille design.

The front-end is partially visible, and although it is still covered by camouflage material, a lot more can be said about the grille’s shape and size. The BMW i4 will have the same signature kidney-grille as before with practically the same size as in the earlier models.

The headlights are also clearly visible for the first time revealing a c-shaped design. The LED daytime lights and the two projector-beam combo has been the go-to for BMW in the recent past and the i4 follows the same pattern.

Unsurprisingly, the rear of the vehicle also shows more than it did earlier. The taillights, for example, can be seen more clearly and we can decipher their near-final shape. Since the camouflage panels have started coming off, we can say for sure that the BMW i4’s release is not that far away.

The prototype vehicle is in its final stages of testing and once that is complete, BMW will reveal the I4 in its final form. It is expected to be released by late 2021 so expect a full unveiling by the Spring/Summer of 2021.

The BMW i4 is touted to be more powerful than some of BMW’s performance cars like the M3 and M4. The i4 will produce 530 hp at its peak, which will allow it to go from 0 to 60 mph in a brisk 4 seconds or less. The whopping performance figures are possible thanks to the single motor setup and BMW’s intuitive drag-reduction aerodynamic technology.

BMW has been tight-lipped on the price of the i4, but expect it to be around $70,000 for the base variant.

From BMW`s website we bring you in a premiere some of the official details of the company`s latest creation – the iX – the ultimate EV in terms of technology. And from the way it looks, feels, and drives, it is definitely BMW`s most impressive model ever built.

Speaking of technologies and exterior design – not to mention the powerful configuration under the hood – Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW`s senior design, explains how the model shows and feels. He stated that the “car is technologycally complex, but it feels very clear and uncomplicated.” The brand new iX also “offers a mobile living space in which people will feel at ease, where the car`s intelligence is only there where you need it.”

All these impressive atributes about the technology it embodies, leaves the company`s BMW 7-Series way behind in terms of high-tech features. Plus, the intimidating looks and extreme power makes it indeed a one-of-a-kind type of a futuristic vehicle.

As we can depict from the media gallery below, the oversized front grille makes it manacing, while all the sensors, cameras or radars it incorporates, make it complete in every possible way. Not to mention the plethora of advanced driver assistance systems which provide driving pleasure at its best.

The massive SUV stands on the company`s new architecture designed for battery-electric models. That comes with a new all-electric powertrain, consisting of two-electric motors and a massive 100kWh battery pack. The electric motors develop more than 500 horsepower, while the battery pack adds a 600-mile range. However, as the company also states, the aforementioned numbers “are based on the car`s current stage of development.” Even so, it runs very fast from 0 to 100 km/h, and according to BMW, this would be in less than 5.0 seconds, which is also staggering.

One of the car`s main improvements is the hexagonal steering wheel it comes with, which means that it “improves ease and gives the driver a better view of the information display.”

Other features that caught the reader`s attention is the electric seat button console found on the door panels, or the largest glass surface ever designed in a BMW car. What is also interesting, is that the carmaker has left intact all the features from the iNext prototype, including the semi-autonomous system. And even if the iX is still in its “series production development phase,” we surely have a full idea of how it will finally arrive on the market. Speaking of production, the new iX will be built at the company`s new Dingolfing plant, with production to start next year.

The 2015 BMW i3 has been recently reviewed by the guys from Kelley Blue Book, the entire review being also showcased in an interesting video.

The video is trying to showcase the capability of the i3 electric of handling the rough tests on the road, which might prove that the electric car is still worthy of bearing the BMW name. But the i3 electric is a genuine BMW, the first model from the company to come with a synchronous electric motor, hooked to a 22-kWh lithium-ion battery and developing 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

The BMW i3 electric hit Europe first and then headed to the United States this spring, where the model was set to have a MSRP price of $41,350, while the range extender came with a higher $45,200. But that didn`t stop the model to be successful, as it managed to be sold in 1,363 units in one month.

We all know that the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 made possible for different machineries, vehicles, gadgets and smartphone technology to interact at some point.

Along with the rapid development of smartphone technology, it means that the common connectivity, once used with tablets and smartphones, is now becoming an ordinary element for car connectivity.

Now, cars will have the opportunity to connect to internet via smartphones or gadgets, allowing users to use the thousands of applications and other digital services on their own benefit.

It is also the case of the BMW luxury car manufacturer, the world`s first manufacturer to present vehicle functioning on electronic devices, to work with Samsung and receive the Galaxy Gear BMW i3.

That would come naturally, since i3 is the first BMW`s electric car, and a Remote App from the Galaxy Gear would help the car receive navigation destinations, adjust the interior temperature, or show the weather on the windows.

All these can be also achieved by simply wearing an electronic wristwatch that can send the info to the car and keep the car connected to the internet to find all the info one might need.

The big news this week is the recent world unveiling of the BMW i3 city car.

And with the car pretty much done and ready to roll out the dealerships, the German car maker has shifted attention to the other side of the coin.

As much as one might like the idea of electric vehicles, fact remains that the current infrastructure barely can sustain this growing segment of the market. So, in an effort to advance the availability of charging points, BMW has started investing with the UK company Chargemaster.

The contract signed with the British charging provider will last 5 years, and during this time, they expect to widely extend the network throughout UK. While we don’t have a number on ChargeNow points to be built, we do know that besides these, electric car owners will also have access to some 30.000 private parking points, via the Parkatmyhouse.com program.

Things are shaping up for the BMW i3, and the game changing vehicle might actually hold true to its expectations. At least BMW will do its best to make it happen.

At the moment BMW is spending $1 billion to develop a small city electric car that will have an autonomy of 150 miles between the full charges and the prototype from this sketch photo may be the electric car that BMW wants to launch.
