The 2017 BMW M4 DTM was built as a celebration of Marco Wittmann`s winning of this year`s DTM Championship, the model being available on the market in a limited-run of just 200 vehicles.

Recently, the German-based carmaker announced the arrival of 10 units with the M4 DTM in Australia, each one coming with a price tag of AUD 295,000, which is a hefty price compared to the standard M4, with AUD 149,615.

As we already know and depicting from the media gallery below, each available BMW M4 DTM model will come in the gorgeous Alpine White exterior wrap with M striping on the sides of the body, adding as well CFRP roof, front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, mirror caps, boot-lid spoiler and GTS-like bonnet.

Other high-end features also include the adaptive LED headlights with BMW Selective Beam, OLED taillights, while at the rear, the model is complemented with the same GTS-like titanium quad-exhaust system.

The model is also fitted with the 19-inch and 20-inch alloy wheels, front and rear, respectively, finished in Orbit Grey matte and wrapping 285/35/19 front and 285/30/20 rear tires.

Inside, the cabin is highlighted by the M front bucket seats with six-point harnesses, white roll cage, fire extinguisher, perfectly blending the Alcantara trim for the steering wheel.

As for the engine under the hood, the BMW M4 DTM uses a 3.0-inline six-cylinder engine with water injection, churning out an impressive 500 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. We are looking here at 50 horsepower and 50 Nm of torque more than the standard M4. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is done in just 3.8 seconds, at a top speed of 305 km/h.

Marco Wittmann, a well-known DTM driver, gets his very own BMW M6 Coupe. We talk about an exclusive model prepared by the specialists from BMW Individual. In order to stand out, the Germans opted for a Fire Orange finish with a high-gloss roof, side mirrors and front grille.

Power is offered by the stock 4.4-liter V8 engine producing 560 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque, enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4,2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

The unit is linked to a seven-speed M DCT while the M Driver’s Package enables a top speed of 305 km/h. At the interior, the special M6 Coupe gets a similar color scheme.

We talk about black Merino leather seats, carbon fiber trim, Fire Orange accents, Kyalami Orange stitching and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.

Since we talk about Marco Wittmann’s car, there’s no word on pricing as this is a one-off model. However, we could expect a special edition based on this model anytime soon.

The replacement of the old M3 with the brand new BMW M4 raised many controversies lately, so the carmaker had to come up with some strategies that should grow the popularity of its newcomer.

Consequently, BMW M4 will enter sports competitions beginning next year and the first one will be the DTM. The news was officially announced by the BMW motorsport division director, right after the unit was presented during the Pebble Beach elegance contest.

The task of BMW M4 could not have been more difficult, given the long and fruitful history of its predecessor in DTM. Connoisseurs are well aware that BMW entered DTM back in 1987 with its M3.

Over the time, Bavarian Motors gained no less than 48 victories in DTM, all with the M3, the debut of E92 motoring in 2012 being a huge success. Consequently, BMW M4 should rise to the level of expectancies and officials have all the confidence that it can.

After all, they have repeatedly stated that people just have to face the fact that they are making a step forward with the new BMW M4. DTM is probably the best shot to prove that the step is forward, not backward.

I’d be pretty annoyed by now. The E92 BMW M3 limited edition practice is getting pretty annoying regarding the way they keep coming about.

You’d imagine they’d had enough by now and that people had realized they’re not necessarily worth buying any more since their exclusivity fades away within months when a new one is created.

With this newest of limited BMW M3 editions that will very likely not be the case since it’s meant to celebrate the DTM victories of the Bavarian car maker in 2012.

Having returned to their home racing event, the German Touring Car Championship, better known as the DTM, the new M3 racer fared brilliantly.

As a newcomer, the M3 racer looked as though it had a mountain to climb. Making its journey more arduous, there were only six cars competing instead of eight as their rivals did.

The unfamiliar conditions were very problematic and yet nobody was deterred about the event. Bruno Sprengler won half the races in the championship.

This gave him the driver’s title, it gave his team, AC Schnitzer, another title and it gave BMW the constructor’s championship.

In celebration of the events, the home office promised a new version of the M3 which was to be built in order to celebrate the victory.

That car is now finally ready for a proper unveiling and comes with its own good looking gallery of pictures. The details have not changed, but there are some perks.

After paying the €99.000 asking price, you will get a chance to purchase racing training alongside the current DTM championship, Sprengler himself.

2012 came with a lot of good news for the BMW enthusiast. Be it new releases, new technology or new ideas, the Bavarians delivered fully.

They even went on with their tradition of completely mocking the sales performance of the rivals and showing them once again how it’s done.

Few of these listed have struck such a cord with the brand faithfuls more than the decision to return to the DTM touring car championship.

The German event differs from other touring car series because of the high manufacturer involvement and high power outputs.

With the return of BMW to the sport well under way, they used a really outrageous version of the BMW M3 that has a front end which is reminiscent of the F30 3 Series.

This weekend saw the last race of the year take place at the Hockenheimring was the one which decided the 2012 DTM championship.

That title went to BMW’s AC Schnitzer team, the manufacturer title went to our favorite car maker but the driver’s title was the most disputed one of all.

Eventually it went to Bruno Spengler. The Canadian driver had been pretty unfortunate in the past as he had lost the title four times at the last minute.

Thankfully, this time, in the maiden year of BMW’s return to the sport he managed to really put up a show. He started in third yet managed to get by his major rival and his team-mate to make a quick run for the win.

That win came just 1.1 seconds apart from the rival, so it wasn’t easy, but the result is undeniable.

Formula 1 is off on break but in the meantime there’s racing entertainment coming from the world of the DTM. It was a special weekend in Valencia for the sport.

The racing was pretty spectacular and we hear there were lots of cars on the track. Not that we like to slack off BMW competitors but we couldn’t really see them.

Ok, maybe Audi put up a good show and a certain Mercedes team may still be ahead on points but those are mere technicalities.

BMW’s efforts were did proud as their M3 DTM racer stood on pole position at the end of qualifying. The driver who put it there is Augusto Farfus.

You may remember him from his run around the Nurburgring. The one where he used a E92 BMW M3 to scare his wife beyond reason.

Farfus managed to keep his pace and cool until the end of the race. Sounds simple right? Well, it’s far from that but Augusto pulled it off and managed to win the Valencia DTM run.

This is his first win in the championship and quite the momentous moment for somebody who’s a rookie around DTM racing.

The German touring car series is one race away from ending. Later this month everybody will converge on the Hockenheim circuit for a final do or die race.

At the moment HWA’s Gary Paffett is leading the championship but he’s just 3 points ahead of Bruno Spengler from BMW Team Schnitzer.

Take your kid to work day has nothing on what BMW’s Nurburgring facility does for family time. We have a video which will make you want to work there even more.

The star player here is Augusto Farfus, one of BMW’s DTM racing drivers and his sidekick is a E92 BMW M3 Coupe with obligatory racing livery.

Location was set at the infamous track affectionately known as the Green Hell and the victim was none other than Farfus’ wife.

Her name is Liri and if you’re having trouble pronouncing it, that might be because your brain is telling you what pitch of voice to expect.

Be warned, it might not be the most pleasing noise in the world and her contribution to the conversation is pretty repetitive as she asks for just one thing:

You dirty pervert you, all the girl wanted was to get her husband to slow down. After all, that’s what he’d promised from the beginning.

Obviously, the problem comes from the fact that they don’t really have the same sort of idea of what driving slow is. Her husband isn’t driving at full chat, but he is driving about 8/10s.

Even so, there’s a point where the M Division powered sedan hits 250 kph. Despite the obvious stress and risk of going these sorts of speeds, he still finds the time to argue.

The entire thing is meant to be for entertainment purposes, as part of some internet meme idea that’s to do with scaring your wife on the track.

Augusto did pretty good on that.

BMW’s return to the DTM is going well. Actually, never mind, it’s going awesome. They’ve already won their first race.

The first race of the season may have gone over to Mercedes but the most recent one, the second one on this year’s calendar went to the Bavarians.

Bruno Spengler is the man we should all be thanking. The Canadian did just about everything by the book at Lausitzring.

That includes doing great in qualifying, starting from pole position and leading the race from start to the checkered flag.

The BMW M3 DTM racer behaved admirably but most of the effort can be put on the shoulders of the Canadian racing driver.

He was under some serious pressure from the Mercedes driven by Gary Paffett throughout the race yet managed to keep his composure.

Even at the end of the race the gap between them was just 1.019 seconds. Throughout the race this gap grew and shrunk by as much as 0.6 seconds.

The end was sealed after the chasing driver made a bit of a mistake on the last lap. Having braked a little late Paffett hit the kerb and lost some time that couldn’t be made up quickly.

At this point, the outcome of the race had been decided. BMW’s new win is a historic milestone for more than one reason.

It’s a the first for BMW after a 20 year hiatus but it’s also the 50th win the Bavarian company ever got in the home country’s own racing series.

There’s two types of car makers out there, the German ones and everybody else. Of the Germans, only one strikes a beat in our hearts.

That very same one, a Bavarian company called BMW, has just published a video in celebration of return to the most… German of all motor sports.

After a hiatus of 20 years, BMW is returning to the German touring car championship known as DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters).

BMW’s entry into the DTM will be taken care of by a brand new racing car that looks something like an M3 and which has a similar engine.

Officially known as the BMW M3 DTM it has a 4.0 liter V8 engine which develops 480 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

If you think that’s too little a gain over the standard car’s 4.0 lite V8 powerplant, let’s please remember there’s the issue of an air restrictor to consider.

Let’s also remember that this power is harnessed by a six-speed sequential transmission and that the car is very light and very aerodynamic.

One of these BMW M3 DTMs only weighs in at 1.200 kg (2.645 lbs) and probably generates a similar amount of downforce once it gets to around 155 or 165 mph.

Top speed should be somewhere around 175-180 mph and the sprint from 0 to 62 happens in just 3 seconds.

The special BMW we see in the video will debut this weekend in the opening race of the DTM. It’s held at Hockenheim at we hope the Bimmers will put on a good show.

As usual, some cars from Audi and Mercedes will also be littering the track.

Yes, the Geneva Motor Show is all about style, presence and looks. Yes, racing cars shouldn’t really be seen there.

Having taken a second look at the 2012 BMW M3 DTM racer I’d like to disagree. Something that looks this menacing and purposeful is beautiful.

I will admit, it doesn’t have very much to do with the actual E92 BMW M3 they claim its based on but who cares. It looks awesome and it even has the right colors.

If you think about it, no matter the sponsor, no matter the livery, it would’ve looked bad to have a BMW M3 racer at the Geneva Motor Show with any other colors than that.

Powering this low monster is a relative of the 4.0 liter V8 engine that powers the E92 M3 only now it develops 480 horsepower.

The grunt is thrown at the rear wheels through a race-spec six-speed sequential gearbox. Team this setup with some racing slicks and the figures chucked out are more than decent.

0 to 62 should take around 3 seconds and the top speed is around 186. A de-restricted E92 M3 can probably hit a higher top speed but it won’t be producing anywhere near the amount of downforce this is.

2012 will be an interesting season to watch in DTM as the big stars this time are the biggest and feistiest of Germans; BMW, Mercedes and Audi.

The start of this year’s season is scheduled to take place at the Nurburgring at the end of next month.
