The 2014 BMW X4 seems to get closer and closer to debut as new spy photos appeared today. The prototype starts dropping camouflage which lets us get a closer look at the German model.

The BMW X4 Concept will provide a series of styling elements while the X6 will also serve as a pattern. Under the hood, expect to see a series of 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engines.

As you probably know, the model is based on the current BMW X3 which means that the engine range will be quite identical.

These images were shot on the well-known Nurburgring circuit and as mentioned above, they indicate a late stage of development for the new BMW X4.

We expect to see the model’s world premiere later this year with the first units to reach their customers early 2014.

Ever since it was announced and presented in concept version, the BMW X4 has been on the radar of photographers world wide.

Recently it seems the “baby X6” has finally broken cover and revealed its shapes on a test run. The eager photographers didn’t miss the chance and thus we finally get spy shots of the new model.

In a true BMW fashion, the production version seems to resemble the concept presented at the Shanghai Auto Show quite closely, which is a good thing, as the BMW X4 concept was quite the machine. While there is not much to glean from the pictures, as camouflage covers everything but the hood and roof, the general lines are enough for anyone to make a first impression.

We don’t really have details on performance figures, but rumors place two engines most likely to be fitted beneath the hood. The first is the xDrive28i and the second one the xDrive35i, and while less likely, you can also expect a less powerful 2.0 liter engine or even a diesel burner.

The new BMW X4 may appear in 2010 and it seems that it will look something like the BMW X6. Apparently, the X6 had a great success on the market and this means that the new X4 will probably make great profit for the people at BMW.

At first, the X5 and X3 opened the European market for this type of vehicles. After that, the X6 consolidated this segment and in just a couple of years we will be able to see the impact of the BMW X4. The new spy photos reveal a familiar look, but some pictures show us that the car will be very different from any other X-model.
