If it were up to some BMW enthusiasts, pretty much every model the Germans make should have one M Division variant.

Alas, that is not the case, especially when we talk about the car maker’s SUVs, but that doesn’t stop fans from dreaming.

One particular requested M model is a BMW X4 M, and some even went so far as to render one such model. In reality, the chances to actually see it on the streets anytime soon are null, as M Divion CEO, Dr. Friedrich Nitschke states. However, he did not rule it out completely, so for those still hoping for one, hold on.

“I think in parallel to bring an X4 M version we are fixed in our capacity of engineering resources and therefore at the moment it is difficult for us to develop a lot of real M cars. The X4 is the sportiest version of the X3 and in the future maybe we will bring such a car, but we won’t be doing it in this model cycle”.

When I say naked, I am speaking about the model losing almost all of its camouflage, as the beast from M Division clearly shows in the following pictures.

Just like pretty much every other model out there, the slow reveal process from concept to teasers to test mules that gradually lose camouflage can be either a joy or a pain to watch for enthusiasts.

Luckily, most who are versed in the ways of the M, can get a pretty accurate idea as soon as the normal version is released. It is the same with the new BMW X4 M Sport. It comes as no surprise that it will be sporting stuff like the M Sport aerodynamic kit, M Sport wheels, as well as a retuned interior with a steering wheel to go.

This particular unit also features the optional adaptive LED headlights. So just how much longer until takers are able to enjoy this fine beast? Well, the vehicle will be available this summer, with the official debut set at the NAIAS (New York International Auto Show) in April.

We have new details on the high-performance M version of the new BMW X4. Unfortunately, recent reports are showing that a BMW X4 M is quite unlikely to happen.

The main reason why BMW is not very sure to introduce a sportier variant of the German crossover is another model in range.

We talk about the BMW X6 M, the Bavarians saying that an M version of the BMW X4 could endanger the sales of its bigger brother.

The BMW Product Communications manager, Bernhard Ederer, said that the BMW X4 M is unlikely to be introduced but the final decision is still not taken.

“It is a little bit selfish, as it is not always about what a number of customers would like but what for us is the best business opportunity,” says BMW. We will keep you up to date on how this story develops.
