Recalls are not that uncommon nowadays, with various manufacturers either forced or from their own volition trying their best to fix the mistakes that find their way in.

BMW recently had to recall some models, or rather to expand an older recall.

The issue is related to the airbag system, and the models that were added to the recall list are the BMW i3 and the 2014 Mini Cooper. While any kind of issue with the airbag system can be considered an extra risk of injury in the case of an accident, if we were to get down to it, the issue is with the airbag inflator.

Luckily, the total number of models that were added to the recall is just 27 units, which is one the smallest recall numbers i have seen in a while. These include the BMW i3 units built on March 31st and the Mini Cooper units built from February 2nd to May 30th.

The BMW German luxury car manufacturer has issued a factory recall for its 2010-2012 models, which seems to have issued with its bolts.

The factory recall is available for particular vehicles being equipped with inline six-cylinder units, with around 156,130 being called back in factory all over the US.

The BMW dealerships all around the US will perform bolt fixes that hold the variable-camshaft timing unit housings in one place. Otherwise, there might be some chances of the bolts loosing or breaking.

Fortunately, in case of a bolt failure, the Check Engine or Service Engine Soon light will appear, along with a message being displayed on the car`s dashboard.

BMW warns that the drivers would the affected cars should get to their dealerships immediately, even if there is a time limit for the car to drive around with the alarm light being switched on.

The BMW car manufacturer also states that if the company`s VANOS bolt system is beyond repair, than the engineers will switch the engine in order to be put on a safe-mode, until the parts will have been replaced.

BMW have already sent notifications to drivers owing 2010-2012 models for the 3-Series, 5-Series Sedan, 5-Series Gran Turismo, the X3, X5, X6 crossovers or the Z4 sports car.

We mentioned last week that the German car maker BMW has issued a huge recall in China, involving a large portion of the sedans, the SUVs and even the Z4 roadster.

The issue involved an engine bolt with a manufacturing fault, which, in a few cases, can come loose and even snap, possibly damaging your engine.

Of course, a recall involving 230.000 units requires a lot of investigation, which BMW of course did. Unfortunately, after these investigations were concluded, they discovered that the issue was not limited to just the Bimmers sold in China, but also to a lot of units produced for North America, as well.

To this end, the recall was expanded to include an additional 156.137 vehicles, including the 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, the X3, X5, X6 and Z4 Series manufactured between 2010 and 2012. As expected, this recall is totally free, so as soon as it comes into effect, be sure to check you Bimmer in for the necessary alterations to avoid unpleasant situations.

Last year BMW pushed hard into the new market on the Asian continent. I am speaking about the Chinese market, which has opened wide in the last period.

Unfortunately for the German car maker, it seems that their start in China was a bit flawed.

A massive recall has been issued for about 230.000 vehicles sold in the Asian country. Specifically, the discovered issue affected 232.098 units, including the whole of the X Series SUVs, the BMW Z4 Roadsters and even several sedans. All the affected Bimmers were manufactured between June 10, 2009 and July 30, 2012.

Moving on to the actual problem, it seems that investigations revealed badly manufactured engine bolts. In certain conditions, these bolts can cause the engine control system to become loose or even break, compromising the seal in the process. There is even a chance that the engine will stop working altogether.

It seems that the US authorities have found out yet another fault with BMW products, with a recent motorcycle issue uncovered.

And while these things can cost a manufacturer quite some money, it’s far better than the alternative.

It seems that the German car maker will have to recall 2.475 units Stateside. The affected models are the K1600GT and K1600GTL produced in 2012, and the mentioned issue affects the throttle. It seems that if a certain set of conditions are met, the engine of the bikes can stall, and that is never good on two wheels.

Going deeper into details, it seems that the part at fault is a throttle valve. The part could send a false signal to the ECU (engine control unit), causing it to limit the engine speed and possibly stalling it. As always, the recall will get all the affected bikes into a service where BMW will replace the faulty part free of charge.

BMW announced that about 176,000 units fitted with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol unit (N20 and N60 engines) will be recalled due to a defective oil plug.

We talk about 2012 to 2014 model years, several models such as the BMW 320i, 328i, 528i, sDrive28i and sDrive28i alongside their respective xDrive variants (where applicable) are concerned.

Most of the models, namely 76,191 were sold in the United States, with 25,000 vehicles in China, 6,800 in Germany, 9,400 in Canada and so on.

According to the Bavarian company, the oil plug from the intake camshaft may be displaced which will restrict the oil supply for the vacuum pump. This could lead to some malfunctions at the power brake system, ultimately leading to a failure.

There is no doubt that the risk of accidents could increase, therefore, BMW will start notifying the affected customers in the shortest time possible. If you are concerned by this recall, be sure to keep your phone calls up as BMW will contact you soon.

Recently BMW issued a recall involving the E70 BMW X5, with 1.540 units being called into the shops for fixes.

The problem discovered by the NHTSA put the fuel filter heater at fault, and while no incidents cause by it were registered, there are certain risks.

While at first the problem seemed to only affect the 1.540 units, now new reports came in, dragging even more diesel BMWs into the spotlight. The affected models include the E87 1 Series (555 units), the E60 5 Series (321 units), the F01 7 Series (17 units), the E83 X3 models (812 units), the E70 X5 (1.395 units) and finally, the E71 X6 (43 units).

These models were discovered to be at fault after BMW Australia decided to look in their own back yard for the issue reported in the US for the E70 BMW X5. Apparently it is the same as with the X5, the fuel heater might remain active even after contact was taken off. The fix is the same, too, with BMW set to replace the component altogether, and again, free of charge.

If you own an E70 BMW X5 with 8-cylinder engine which was produced between October 2006 and March 2010 you have to go to the nearest BMW Dealer because your BMW has issues with power brake failure.

Your E70 BMW X5 has a problematic vacuum hose and the brake power steering can fail because of that. You are prone to accident and we highly recommend to go as soon as possible at your nearest dealer as also I said above.

BMW is recalling more than 30,000 BMW X5 and will carry out all the costs and going to solve this unpleasant problem of your car.

It seems that the Germans at BMW face a quite delicate situation in the States where they have to recall more than 500,000 units.

According to initial details, the main problem is caused by the positive battery cable connector which due to the high current flow and heat may lead to a breakage of the connection.

Affected models include all the 1 Series Coupe and Convertible units sold between 2008 and 2012 as well as 2007 to 2011 BMW 3 Series (Coupe, Convertible, Sedan and Wagon).

Last but not least, the Z4 Roadster is also affected, this time only the vehicles built between 2009 and 2011. As this was not enough, about 30,000 BMW X5 units are also recalled due to the brake vacuum pump which may leak.

If this happens, the power assist braking won’t work as it should be, thus increasing the brake distance. BMW will start the recall procedure in the U.S. in March.

The Germans from BMW are forced to recall more than 240,000 3 Series models due to possible faulty tail lights. The information comes from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) which says that certain models built between September 1, 2001 and March 1, 2005 may be affected. The American company says that the models may experience increased resistance at the electrical contacts which could lead to the failure of tail lights.

Of course, there are some obvious consequences, the driver being in danger and putting the other motorists in danger as its intentions won’t be pre-indicated anymore.

To be more precise, NHTSA announced that the 325i, 325xi, 330i and 330xi models are concerned by this recall, BMW following to repair the faulty components at no extra charge starting October, this year.

“Over time, resistance in the electrical contacts may cause one or more rear lamp functions (tail light, brake light, and/or turn-signal), within the vehicle’s body panel, to stop working,” says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Owners can wait for BMW’s notice or call at NHTSA’s hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
