It seems that the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe is once again put to performance tests by the German people from Sport Auto, the smallest M obtaining a new noteworthy result. If few months ago the same German magazine tested the new 1M Coupe at the Hockenheim circuit and obtained an amazing 1:14.1 lap time beating models such as the BMW E92 M3 ZCP DCT. This time, Sport Auto announces that the well-known circuit from Nurburgring has been completed by the new 1M Coupe in 8:15.

Packing a 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-turbocharged unit producing 335 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,9 seconds. Its total mass of less than 1450 kg also contributes to the good performance, models such as Porsche 987.5 Cayman S, BMW E46 M3 Coupe and Audi RS3 Sportback being seriously topped.

Only the BMW E92 M3 GTS, Alpina B3 Biturbo, Audi TT-RS Coupe and BMW E60 M5 obtaining a better time comparing to the new 1M Coupe. The Germans from Sport Auto claimed that the lap time is not bad but with a softer suspension the results would be even greater. Back in December, they announced a lap time of 8:12 at the Nurburgring but the model proved to be three second slower this time.

“Considering BMW didn’t bring UHP tires, 8:15 isn’t a bad laptime. The Hockenheim laptimes in which the 1M beat the stronger M3 however suggested a better result. All the 1M needs is a more fitting (meaning softer) [suspension] setup. This wouldn’t have hurt it at Hockenheim, improve traction, and — at the same time — make the ride more compliant for daily use,” stated Sport Auto.

The same German magazine suggests that if you know that your driving skills are not very well outlined, you’d better keep the DSC system turned on as the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe is a little more playful comparing to the previous M models.
