Each year, a jury of 48 international journalists from the automotive industry announces the finalists and awards the best cars for each category involved. This year`s World Car of the Year have also announced the finalists for the World Urban Car, World Green Car, World Luxury Car, World Car Design of and World Performance Car of the Year categories. Finally, the 2018 World Car of the Year decides which is the best model in the world.

The winning cars will be announced at the New York International Auto Show in March, with three finalists to be listed at this year`s 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

As expected, the competition is pretty tight and gathers the world`s most important models in each category. BMW is proud to be a finalist in no less than five of them. Unfortunately, it does miss the World Urban Car of the Year, this category being dominated by cars like Ford Fiesta or Volkswagen Polo. While many of us are still wating for the next BMW M5 to pop-up, others have already begun inquiring whether the hardcore variant will be more impressive than the already unveiled 2017 ALpina B5 Bi-Turbo, from mechanical and performance perspectives.

In the meantime, while the new M5 is being prepared, the all-new 2017 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo has made quite a buzz ever since its recent debut, the model being also highlighted in numerous tests, videos and reviews.

It is available in both the Salon and the Touring variants and are equipped with the same eye-catching ALPINA body styling elements, which separates it from the rest of the BMW products. These make it more aggressive.

In the engine department, the all-new model comes with a 4.4-liter V8 engine with Bi-Turbo technology, enabling an output of no less than pure 608 horsepower and impressive 800 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a high-performance 8-Speed Sport-Automatic transmission with ALPINA SWITCH-TRONIC, allowing an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in a mind-blowing 3.5 seconds, at a topping of 325 km/h.

The rumor mill with an upcoming G30 BMW M5 is not new, the carmaker already being leaked out preparing such an astonishing model that could achieve an amazing sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, and thus adding more performance, torque and top speed.

Until an official report on such matter, we have got another rendering signed by no other than rendering specialist X-Tomi Design, which is presenting a personal view on how a much more powerful M5 would look like in the near future.

As we can depict from the rendering below, in X-Tomi Design`s opinion, the future BMW M5 looks extremely aggressive, highlighted by improved aerodynamics, more M Performance Parts and fresh rims.

Along with new mechanics, all these will allow outstanding performance, and according to recent rumors as well, the upcoming G30 M5 will indeed be more powerful.

We might be looking here at an upgraded version of the present 4.4-liter V8 engine, with more than 600 horsepower, being sent to all wheels via a high-performance automatic transmission. The model can also be switched to the rear-wheel drive system, depending on the situation involved.

Once it will arrive, the future G30 BMW M5 might sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in an amazing 3.5-3.6 seconds, which means that it will be faster than the present model with around 0.7 seconds.

Even with the impressive performance, according to specialists, the new G30 BMW M5 will still fall behind its main competitor, the no other than the all-new Mercedes-AMG E63, which packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 604 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, and a 100 km/h sprint in 3.3 seconds.

While some have already packed their test mules for some rough testing on the cold Sweden, others are still faithful to the old Ring track, to fully test their new prototypes.

The video below called “2018 BMW M5 F90 Spied Testing on the Nurburgring Nordschkeile” is showcasing the arrival of the new M5, but not before flexing its muscle on the famous German track.

We are looking here at two models which are showing their best while tackling the tight corners at high-speeds, with the new suspension being put to the final tests as well.

To cope with the sheer performance under the hood, the F90 BMW M5 must be fully packed with a muscular yet aerodynamic design, and the camouflaged models seen in the video below provide just that.

The new F90 BMW M5 is going to be extremely aerodynamic and provide the sportiest characteristics, lately seen on an M performance model. We are looking here at the new front and rear bumpers, now more aggressive, adding as well the rear-end with the twin-double pipes and flared wheel-arches. Also, the new model is going to be lighter as well, a fact that would lead to increase performance.

Once arriving on the market at the end of 2017 as a 2018 MY, the new M5 will be powered by an upgraded 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine, with at least 600 horsepower under the bonnet – we might as well expect 620 horsepower, which will position the model way above its competitors from Mercedes-Benz or Audi, which come for the moment with power ranging between 550 horsepower and 605 horsepower.

As far as the transmission goes, this will play a key role in the car`s performance figures, and rumors have it that it will come with a slightly revised M-dual-clutch gearbox as optional, while the manual would be standard in the US. Stay tuned for more details on the all-new 2018 F90 BMW M5!

And the German-based tuner Prior Design is entitled to carry out outstanding tuning programs on the M5, and the project below demonstrates how good the tuner is with the M5.

As we can depict in the media gallery below, the BMW M5 by Prior Design comes with two main important highlights – white body exterior with wide kit as well as the red and standout wheels from Forgiato tuner.

Tackling heavy weather conditions especially during winter can be quite difficult for a rear-wheel drive BMW model, but thanks to the new technology, BMW purists can now switch from RWD to AWD by just a push of a button.

This system is not new, as it is also implemented on higher models from Mercedes-Benz, particularly the all-new Mercedes-AMG E63.

The same will happen to the upcoming BMW M5 once it will arrive on the market somewhere next year, the model being able to do so by simultaneously pulling both shift paddles. This information emerged on the market thanks to the guys from Bimmertoday auto publication.

The system`s main advantage is that it will allow more performance to be squeezed out of the car`s engine once switching between the two driving modes, especially when rain or snow can pose heavy threat.

Once arriving on the market, the all-new BMW M5 will use the same engine lineup, with the top of the line still benefiting the famous 4.4-liter V8 engine, developing an impressive 600 horsepower, a worthy adversary for the new Mercedes-Benz E63 Coupe. This means that the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h will be done in 3.5 seconds.

The AWD engine system will also use a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which will make the new model “to drive like an M5 does today, but with better traction as well,” as a BMW official stated a couple of months back.

We have seen lately some strange drag races between cars with uneven performance, size and straight line sprint, like the recent match between an M2 Coupe and an Audi A8. Now, another drag race has popped up online, putting head-to-head a customized BMW M5 and a stock Lamborghini Huracan.

The differences between the two of them are visible from miles away and one that thinks a stock F10 BMW M5 would be a match for the Huracan, would be just another full. This is why perhaps the video below showcases a tuned-up M5 to kinda cope with the supercar`s superpowers.

Even if we are looking here at an F10 BMW M5 modified by ESS tuner company, the chances of beating up the Lamborghini Huracan are pretty low. Even so, it is worth seeing the two of them going full throttle.

First, the F10 BMW M5 is extremely big and heavy, coming with a bulk design and a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which develops 560 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque, in the stock form. However, with the new modifications from ESS, the model now develops somewhere between 600 horsepower and 800 horsepower, which is a wild guess.

On the other hand, the Lamborghini Huracan comes with advanced aerodynamics and a much lighter body styling, weighing just 1.4 tones and featuring a 5.2-liter V10 engine. The stock form sets it at 610 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque, the power being sent to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds; and that would be the Huracan`s main advantage. Enjoy the video!

Even if the upcoming F90 BMW M5 has been already rumored, shot down in different areas in the United States or Europe`s Nurburgring, we have our own exclusive shots with the model while undergoing tests on Autobahn, just outside Munich.

The exclusive spy photos were sent by one of our fine readers who happens to love the model so bad that he promised he would sent new samples with the model. And so he did.

The spy photos were taken yesterday (November 16, 2016) and are showcasing the upcoming 2018 F90 BMW M5 sedan wearing the same camouflage around the body, which clearly indicates that the model is far from its final shape. Even so, we can depict the new styling bits that it will come with.

From the start, the model promises to be beautiful…actually more beautiful and appealing than ever, with its exquisite curves and sporty touches from top to bottom. More than that, it will borrow an aggressive look from the newly unveiled G30 5-Series and add its own M parts, only that it will be more powerful under the hood.

In terms of styling, the car`s main highlights refer to the new kidney grille and LED headlights, sporty hood, aero flicks on the front of the wheel arches, while the rear-end stands-out from the crowd with the twin double pipes and flared wheel-arches.

The exterior design also indicates that the model is going to be extremely powerful, especially the rear end, with the sports exhaust system with butterfly valves opening up. Even if unconfirmed, there are plenty of reports to give us an insight on the car`s powertrain.

So, we might think of a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which is the same found on the 550i, but with indication of a new power configuration. Let`s say somewhere between 600 and 650 horsepower, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, being sent to the rear axle via an Active M Differential. On top of that, the model will also get an xDrive all-wheel sibling, which would compete against the newcomer W213 Mercedes-AMG E63.

Presuming heading to the 2017 Geneva Motor Show for an official debut, the all-new 2018 F90 BMW M5 will be competing against the likes from the aforementioned AMG E63 or the new Porsche Panamera. As for the prices, the model is said to come with a tag of at least €150,000, if you decide to have it with optional goodies, like carbon fiber roof, trunk or ceramic brakes. Following the successful debut of the all-new 2017 BMW 5 Series Sedan in Europe and announced for the market in February and March, respectively, the German based carmaker is also testing out the top of the line F90 M5, seen in the spy video below, while undergoing tests in Los Angeles, US, and wearing full camouflage.

Even if the camouflage hides the most important details that the new M5 will be coming with, we could still depict the areas that would receive noticeable changes.

The F90 BMW M5 wears the overall design of the 5-Series Sedan, but will come with its own personal feel and touch, accentuating its aggressive look and styling. We are looking here at a much sportier front-end, adding twin-double pipes at the rear, as well as the flared wheels.

One of the car`s main highlight is no doubt – just like the M550i xDrive – the imposing kidney grille, now coming thicker and complemented with the new LED headlights. The aero flicks in front of the wheel arches also provide the model with a distinctive look.

Under the hood, the all-new F90 BMW M5 will receive upgraded mills, fully packed with the same high-performance V8 TwinTurbo technology, which would bring the model to its highest peak of 500 horsepower, which would be rather the same as the M4 GTS.

Also, for the first time, the company will add the long-expected all-wheel drive system, which will also be present on the future M6 models. The new system will improve the car`s driving dynamics offering a sporty feel and increase grip at the same time.

Even if the Italian based Alfa Romeo released the Giulia`s top of the line QV as the main competitor of the BMW M3, it was eventually demonstrated that the sedan was too powerful than the German model, so instead, it turned its attention towards another potent model from BMW, the one-off M5.

The video below demonstrates how fast and powerful both cars are, each one showcasing its impressive acceleration, maximum of torque and eventually, sheer power. We are not going to spoil the surprise, you get to enjoy it later.

In order to understand both models and their high-end specs, we should take a look at their specs.

The F10 BMW M5 comes with a massive 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, developing 560 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque, the massive BMW managing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, at a topping of 250 km/h. The engine is also hooked to a seven-speed DCT transmission.

On the other hand, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV is sleeker yet extremely aggressive with its aerodynamic design, the Italian model packing a smaller 2.9-liter V6 turbo engine, with 510 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, with a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h delivered in 3.9 seconds. The top speed stands at 250 km/h.

So we have two powerful models, the M5 with bigger power and torque than the QV, yet being visibly massive as opposed to the sleek Italian high-end version.
