The British people from Fifth Gear decided to test two German racing models in order to see which one is the best. We know that there is a big rivalry between BMW, Audi and Mercedes but we can’t ignore another important German manufacturer, namely Porsche, a company which delivers extremely competitive models, worth to include them in between the models of the three big manufacturers mentioned above. If there is any need, we remind you that Tiff Needell and Vicki Butler Henderson were the people behind the steering wheels.

As we can observe, the British hosts decided to review two models specially dedicated to the circuit, the BMW M3 GTS and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, models which are focused on squeezing every drop of power available and deliver outstanding performance figures on the track.

In terms of performance, both models are able to deliver similar figures, 450 horsepower to be more precise. However, the BMW M3 GTS benefits from a 4.4-liter V8 unit while the Porsche 911 GT3 RS has a new 3.8-liter unit, a bigger engine compared to the one found on the previous model but still not big enough to compare with the BMW’s powerplant.

There were two tests in this comparison, one of them won by the BMW M3 GTS, the drift competition to be more precise, while the lap time race has been clearly won by the Porsche 911 GT3 RS driven by Tiff Needell. The gap between the two German models was a second but of course we can’t tell you exactly which is the fastest considering the model were driven by different people. With this been said, here is the interesting battle proposed by Fifth Gear. The 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show will take place between September 15 and 25, the German event being the perfect stage for BMW to unveil their new models. More exactly, the Bavarians plan to introduce four new models, a variety of vehicles ranging from high performance to zero-emission.

For the beginning, BMW will unveil its first fully electric model from the new i sub-brand, we talk about i3, an emission-free vehicle which features an electric motor able to produce around 150 horsepower. A single charge will provide a driving range of about 250 kilometers while the tiny eco-friendly model will be able to hit a top speed of 160 km/h. According to the latest rumors, the 2013 BMW i3 will start from around $35,000, nothing official yet however.

The new i3 will be the first model within the i sub-brand to be revealed, a hybrid version of this model being rumored to enter the market later, the conventional engine having the role to extend the driving range. More about the i3 and also i8 hybrid supercar, a model based on the well-known Vision EfficientDynamics concept can be found here.

The second model scheduled to be introduced at Frankfurt is the new BMW M5 F10, the M version of the current 5 Series generation. The model has been previously revealed at Shanghai in a pre-production version but the European debut will take place in Frankfurt. The BMW M5 F10 features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine able to develop somewhere about 570 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque. The V8 unit gets the TwinPower technology and is coupled to a seven-speed DCT double-clutch gearbox.

The next-generation 1 Series will also debut at the German event but the details are very limited for now. All we know is that the model increased in dimension and we are looking forward for any new information to communicate it to you. Lastly, BMW will bring the M3 GTS Sedan at Frankfurt, a model spied earlier this year somewhere near the Nürburgring. The GTS version of the current M3 Sedan features a 4.4-liter V8 engine able to deliver 444 horsepower and most likely will be offered in a limited edition. The prototype caught in the spy photos below was in an early development stage, therefore, the GTS aerodynamic package was not completely shown.

The German company specialized in tuning BMW models decided to reveal all the important details on their tuning kit specially developed for the current BMW M3 GTS. Even the GTS version of M3 brings nothing but increased performance comparing to the standard model, the tuners from G-Power decided that even the GTS variant needs some extra horses under the bonnet while the appearance is still good enough.

With this been said, G-Power brought no exterior or interior tweaks, leaving the original body kit and of course, the famous orange finish that somehow signifies a tradition for the performance models bearing BMW’s badge.

The main attraction of this tuning package is the new G-Power SK II “Sporty Drive” supercharger, an innovative system that squeezes all the power available from the V8 unit that fits the Bavarian model. Thus, G-Power’s M3 GTS is able to develop 635 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque from the 4.4-liter V8 unit.

This means that the new G-Power SK II “Sporty Drive” supercharging system manages to provide extra 191 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque, a quantity which is not quite negligible. The German specialists also claim that the M3 GTS provides just 30 horsepower in addition, so, they decided to develop a tuning package which significantly makes the difference.

Of course, additional tweaks were needed in order to obtain more than extra ponies for the German model. Thus, G-Power fitted the M3 GTS with a reworked ECU unit but also with a custom titanium exhaust system which also contributes to the performance. According to the official information provided by G-Power tuners, the M3 GTS is now able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,2 seconds while the top speed is 323 km/h. They also claim that the German model can sprint from 0 to 200 km/h in 11,9 seconds.

G-Power follows its philosophy by delivering high quality components and guarantees that all the parts used for this tuning kit are OEM-quality which means that you get durable and reliable performance. The official price for the G-Power BMW M3 GTS is €23,500, excluding VAT, a price which includes the installation. Do you think that the current BMW M3 GTS needs a power upgrade of about 200 horsepower? Due to these modifications brought by G-Power, the Germans claim that this is the fastest M3 GTS at the moment.

Earlier this month, BMW unveiled the M3 pickup, a very unexpected model that finally proved to be just an April Fools joke but also few photos with the BMW M5 F10 Concept, a model scheduled to debut at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show.

At the same event in Germany, BMW released the first details on the M3 E90 GTS Concept, the sedan version, as you probably guessed from the codename, a model that is likely to enter the production soon. From the start, the Bavarians told us that the prototype in the photos is not fitted with the complete package.

At the exterior, the German model gets a quad-pipe exhaust system, 19-inch alloy wheels, a revised sport suspension and a front splitter. In the rear you also get a carbon fiber spoiler placed on the trunk while an improved braking system is available too.

In terms of power, the first rumors announce that the BMW E90 GTS Concept fits a 4.4-liter V8 able to develop around 420 horsepower but certainly not over 444 horses, the current output of the BMW M3 E92 GTS Coupe. According to the SportAuto publication that tested the BMW’s supercar M3 GTS, the model managed to obtain a record of time to cover the whole distance of the Nurburgring circuit. In figures, the BMW M3 GTS managed to cover the “Green Hell” surface of 22 kilometers in just 7 minutes and 48 seconds.

As we told you below, these figures were obtained by people at SportAuto, they managed to overcome the performance obtained on the Nurburgring circuit by the CSL version of the M3 model.

4.4-liter engine capable to develop 450 horsepower coupled to a M division double-clutch 7-speed gearbox. The model also was developed to weigh as low as possible, the M3 GTS having just 1.490 kg, a mass that helps the model to have better performance. The BMW’s M3 GTS got a roll-cage, sports seats, an adaptive aerodynamic kit for every situation and special suspensions, all of these made specially for the circuit. Most of you still have a fresh memory of BMW winning at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring last weekend after a five years since the last victory of the manufacturer on this track, four of which had been taken by Porsche.

Apparently BMW are so pleased with fan support of this race and the performance in itself that they are working on a limited edition of the BMW M3 GTS to celebrate the occasion.

While this is just a rumor for now i can’t help at get a bit excited to know that BMW may be doing an ultimate version, of the ultimate version, of their ultimate sports coupe.

This ultimate version is rumored quite well (which is a delight) in terms that it will allegedly have a matte-black exterior, a front spoiler, wider rear fenders and lighter alloy wheels. BMW will also use plenty of carbon fiber in addition to the carbon fiber roof on the regular BMW M3 GTS and areas where this extra carbon fiber is expected to be seen are on the deck-lid, hood and rear spoiler.

As the title claims, the new model should be named the BMW M3 GTS-R.

Besides this extra lightening kit offered by the M3 GTS-R it may also feature something very important such as KERS (perhaps from the 2011 M5 parts bin?).

We’ll just have to wait and see if the M3 GTS-R is a gaming fantasy or a real track ripping beast.

The Nordschleife got a very interesting visit recently in the form of the 2011 BMW M3 GTS.

The limited edition of the E92 M3 will stand to replace the CSL version of the previous generation of M3 as this is still a lightweight, hardcore, track racing focused car that is still road legal.

Road legal is a relative term as all the modifications brought to the car will fail to make it past road-going legislation in many countries, the biggest of which will be the United States of America.

The GTS version of the BMW M3 is due to be on sale by next month and features a 4.4 liter V8 engine that has an output of 450 horsepower. The list of upgrades also includes a 7-speed M DKG Drivelogic gearbox, a multitude of weight saving materials used in the body and as a list of downgrades you know get no stereo, no air conditioning and no back seats. Reminds you of any recent BMW CSL’s list of equipment?

To sum up, other than a 419 pound diet you get a hardcore BMW M3 with a wing on it’s back. Well, not really. What you do get is probably one of the best driving machines made to date and one of the most amazing sounds ever to be heard round the Nurburgring.

If you are an US citizen and also a fan of the BMW M3s and you really want to get this BMW M3 GTS, I think that you feel very disappointed right now or at last I would be but some of you may think that it’s a good reason not to buy such a car but others may get mad.

The reason that this 2011 BMW M3 GTS is not going to be released in US is that it doesn’t pass any EPA or federal safety standards. Also, this 2011 BMW M3 GTS weight 3,285 pounds while the 2011 BMW M3 weights 3,704 pounds so it’s quite a big difference.

I would also want to remind you that this 2011 BMW M3 GTS has a 4.4 liter V8 engine that is able to develop up to 450 horsepower so maybe this is the reason that it is not so safe: the big power

Valentino Rossi grabbed the MotoGP title so he had the chance to drive a BMW M3 GTS and after seeing his facial expression, he was pretty excited about this idea and I’m not surprised, anyone would give anything to drive a BMW M3 GTS because of its amazing performances and also about the cool design of it.

Because of the reason that this BMW M3 GTS is weighting only 3,285 pounds (a normal BMW M3 is weighting much more: 3,704 pounds) this BMW is much more faster than the standard version of it but of course that if you will have the chance to own such a car, you will be able to use it just for entertainment or to transport yourself and another person to somewhere.

This BMW M3 GTS has a 4.4 liter V8 engine that can develop up to 450 horsepower, which is a way too big power for such a small car so now you should know why I’m so excited about it.

A new video from BMW was made but this time is not as cool as the last one was. The last film from BMW was also with a BMW M3 and it was named “Living in The Lights” and you can watch and also read a review made by me in this post. Now, getting back to this teaser video, I have to tell you that what makes this video to be so cool is just the car itself.

It looks very cool with that type of orange and you can see that is not anymore a normal street sport car. It is transformed in something more than sport, you can notice this better looking at the pictures made at the interior. Now, it can’t be named anymore a personal car.

The teaser video gives you a 360 degrees view and also a close look at the interior. This video tells us that this BMW M has a 4.4 liter engine.
