The 2016 BMW M2 Coupe is the worthy successor of the late BMW 1M, and even if the car left production some while ago, it is one of the most haunted down BMW models on the market.

It is also wanted by tuning companies worldwide or different high-class shops that still use it for different events, drifting sessions and so on.

It is also the case of this exquisite BMW 1M Coupe which is showing its drifting skills in the video below.
However, this is not an ordinary M1 Coupe, the model being modified for drifting. This means that comes with according mechanics.

We are looking here at a heavily modified front axle, with some other new tweaks inside, like full roll cage and, single seat and carbon fiber hood. This way, the car is now lighter, weighing just 1 ton, coming with an increased weight distribution.

In the stock form, the BMW 1M Coupe used a N54 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine, with 340 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, allowing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 4.3 seconds. The engine sent the power to the rear axle via a six-speed manual transmission.

However, it seems that this M1 Coupe drifter is using a modified engine, meaning an S85 V10 5.0-liter burner, the same one found on the BMW E60 M5, now delivering 550 horsepower, thanks to the new intake and exhaust systems.

The BMW M2 has been rumored and caught on shots many times, and now the model is expected to be launched at the 2015 NAIAS event, Detroit, at the beginning of the next year.

As a certainty, the BMW is fast preparing the M2 for the production line, with the sports car to be launched next year.

The rumors have also been confirmed by Auto Express, stating that the model will first be launched at Detroit as a concept car, with the final model to be unveiled later on, probably at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

The BMW M2 model is the successor of the more famous 1M Coupe, coming with a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo N55 inline six-cylinder unit, under the hood.

The unit is outputting 374 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque, when hooked to a 6-speed manual, or an optional 7-speed optional automatic M DCT.

The BMW M2 is expected to cost more than the M235i Coupe, which is now valued at 43,750 euros in Germany.

The news of the regarding the new M version of the BMW 1 Series Coupe have been flying around the Intertnet for some time because it is a very hot topic and every new information, photo or rumor is precious. And, unfortunately, the latest piece of news doesn’t bring too much hope for many people that would want to own one. Read more bellow.

Until we get to the meat of the subject, let us bring together the info we have until now, in case you missed the previous news. We know that the BMW 1 Series M Coupe will only be available with a manual transmission, to preserve the old school feeling. It will also have a N54 engine sporting 335 hp and three colors to choose from: Jet Black, Alpine White and Valencia Orange.

Now, the latest piece of news flying around on the Internet boards is the rumor that the 1 Series M Coupe will be limited to only 2,700 units. A large part of these cars will be heading to the United States, so those living there shouldn’t worry too much, at least not compared with the rest of the world.

Not a long time ago we talked about an M version for the BMW 1 Series and as you can see from the title we also have the first spy photos with the BMW 1 Series with the M sport package also named as BMW M1.

I think that the last time when we put the name of the BMW M1 in the title we talked about something like a concept. Better said, it was looking like the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept but this one is looking like the other BMW 1 Series and in the spy photos is a BMW M1 Sedan which will come in 2012.

Until then you will be able to read a lot more spy photos, details, previews, official photos and many other specifications about this BMW M1 because there is a lot time left until 2012 or better said, until the release of the BMW M1.
