Video: BMW M140i vs Ford Focus RS

Even if the newest Ford Focus RS is no match for many other sports cars within its class, some new challengers might give it the proper headache, and that one might be no other than the hot M140i from BMW.

Video below, created by AutoTopNL has put together both outstanding models for an acceleration and sound check-up, both models coming with impressive driving capabilities and performance under the hood, and that thanks to their advanced aerodynamics.

The testing was carried out on Autobahn, in Germany, which is the perfect place for drag races or straight line challenges. But before you take a closer look at the video, please find below some information that you have got to know before placing your bet on your favourite model.

To start with our beloved BMW M140i, the top of the line variant from the 1-Series comes fitted with an I6 turbocharged engine, which develops 320 horsepower, being sent to the rear wheels via a high-performance automatic transmission with an open-differential. It also comes with the optional all-wheel drive system.

On the other hand, the Focus RS`s 2.3-liter turbocharged churns out 350 horsepower, paired to a six-speed manual and all-wheel drive, with new differential and some other fine mechanics, which all together makes it the favourite of our test.

BMW M140i Shows Impressive Engine Growl in Video

There have been a lot of important transformations in BMW`s lineup, especially in the 1- and 2-Series, all starting with 2015, when some of the models received a lot of updates that would differentiate them from the previous generation.

It is also the case of the 1-Series` 135i, which became the present 140i model, starting with the same year. This meant a life cycle with significant modifications in terms of design and performance under the hood.

Besides the much wider chassis, also underpining the 2-Series M240i, the M140 came with a facelifted styling, with the new body parts making the model much more appealing and aggressive at the same time. The top of the crop was its high-performance exhaust system which made the engine growl extremely impressive.

In terms of performance, the BMW 1-Series 140i received some upgrades as well, all squeezed from the same N55 M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder pot, with 340 horsepower and impressive 500 Nm of torque.

All the power is sent to the rear axle via a high-performance eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. However, with the new xDrive 140i, the model can run the same straight line in 4.4 seconds, which makes it quite equal in front of the BMW M2 Coupe, with 4.3 seconds.

Chinese-Based BMW 1-Series Sedan- New Leaked Images Emerge

A couple of weeks ago we showed you the first leaked images with the interior of the China-only BMW 1-Series which is due for an official presentation at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show. Now, thanks to Chinese Xcar webiste, we have new photos with the model, which is showcased out in white and blue.

The details with the model are rather limited, but overall, the Chinese 1-Series Sedan will mainly borrow the styling design and the interior bits from its European sibling.

However, there are some clues that make it distinguish from the rest of the models, like revised headlights and taillights, rather new wheels and slightly reworked rear end.

Inside the cabin, as previous leaked images shown, the interior seems to come with a new ambient lighting system, highlighted by the bright orange under the door handles and above the glove box, with different door styling as opposed to those found on the hatch.

In the engine department, the BMW 1-Series Sedan will come with three mills, each one fitting underneath the available versions. The 118i variant will feature a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with 136 horsepower, the 120i will add the 2.0-liter gasoline four-cylinder with 192 horsepower, while the 125i will come with a 2.0-liter mill and 231 horspower.

Full details pricing will be known at the beginning of 2017, prior to the car`s debut on the Chinese market. Until further news at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show, you might want to take a closer look at the new 1-Series Sedan in China.

BMW 435i Cabriolet Tweaked with Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust System Gets Abu Dhabi Display

We are used to seeing a lot of BMW models being displayed at the carmaker`s number one dealership in Abu Dhabi, and each time we hear about a special model heading that way, we are glad to be there to snapshot it in gorgeous photos.

This time we weren’t able to see the recently added M435i to the exquisite collection, but we promise next time we will make it a special event.

Abu Dhabi`s high-end collection is now richer, the dealership welcoming the new addition from the 1-Series. We are looking here at the top of the line M435i Convertible, the model being tweaked with M Performance Parts and the impressive Akrapovic Exhaust system.

As we can depict from the media gallery below, the BMW 435i Convertible is looking hot with the exotic Melbourne Red body wrap, adorned with the M parts.

The car`s main highlights refer to the black kidney grille or carbon fiber mirror caps at the exterior, while the interior received some new features as well, including the Alcantara sporty steering wheel, aluminum pedals and a few more.

The car`s main tweak remains the Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system which increases the engine`s growl and adds additional power. Unfortunately, we don’t have an official confirmation on that matter.

In the stock version, the BMW 435i Convertible comes with a straight-six cylinder engine, capable of delivering an impressive 306 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. This allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, being however slower than the Coupe with 0.6 seconds.

Hamann BMW M135i xDrive by DS Automobile Is Extremely Powerful

BMW M135i is long-gone but the top of the line model from the 1-Series still remains one of the most haunted down models. And the real proof stands the hundreds of customizations carried out by different tuning companies.

One example is this facelifted M135i xDrive version, the model receiving an impressive power boost courtesy to DS Automobile tuner. It involves the fitting of a Hamann power kit which raises the car`s stock power to a whole new level of performance.

So far, we are used to seeing a lot of BMW products receiving standout body kits, but this lad seen here looks pretty much the same as the factory version, besides some slight changes at the front and rear bumpers, along with the Hamann Anniversary Evo wheels.

The real deal is underneath the hood. In the stock version, the BMW M135i xDrive packs the famous N55 3.0-liter straight-six engine with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology, good for 320 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque.

But with the Hamann power kit, this BMW M135i xDrive is now capable of delivering 360 horsepower, which is quite impressive if you asked me. We are not sure of the performance figures, but it will surely run the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in less the stock 4.8 seconds.

Honestly, I would have wanted to see more upgrades from DS Automobile, as they primarily deal with body styling customizations, and this model here could have looked better with some one-off styling cues. Perhaps the tuner will have the chance to fine-tune another M135i and we will surely be back with more details on that.

2016 BMW 2-Series M240i Gets the First Batch of Photos, Prices Start from $44,150

Besides the all-new 2016 BMW 1-Series lineup and the M140i topper recently seen in some spy photos, the Bavarian carmaker is also planning the introduction of the all-new hot M240i from the 2-Series.

Seen here in the first batch of photos courtesy to Bimmertoday online auto publication, the 2016 M240i is set to arrive this summer, the top of the line from the 2-Series coming with the same M Performance Parts, just like the l-Series sibling.

The model will be available in the Coupe and Convertible versions, with prices to start from $44,150 without the $995 destination fee.

As we can depict from the photos, the model is wearing the gorgeus Sapphire Black body wrap, along with the custom front bumpers and side mirrors coming in Feric Grey accents, adding new suspension which lowers the car by 10 mm, making it more stable on the road.

The interior sports much of the same M goodies as the smaller 1-Series sibling, like the M Driver`s footrest, M leather on the steering wheel, Alcantara sports seats and more.

In the engine department, both versions will pack an upgraded 3.0-liter B58 engine, with 340 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The performance figures will differ from one version to another. The Coupe manages a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds with the manual and 4.6 seconds with the automatic. The Convertible is a little bit slower, with 4.9 seconds with the manual and 4.7 seconds with the Steptronic transmission.

Even if the 2016 BMW M240i is extremely powerful, it is also quite fuel-efficient, burning out 7.1L/100 km in the coupe and 7.4L/100 km in the convertible.

2016 BMW 1-Series M140i Gets Caught Sitting in Car Park

Following the official announcement of the all-new 2016 BMW 1-Series fleet in Australia at the end of this summer, the German based carmaker is also launching the entire lineup in Europe, the company preparing some special upgrades for the top of the line M140i.

The 2016 BMW M140i topper was recently caught on some photos while quietly sitting in a car park near the Bavarian plant, the model wearing the special Alpine White exterior color and a plethora of M Performance Parts.

As we can depict from the photos, the M140i is wearing the standout 18-inch M lightweight alloy wheels, coming with a double-spoke design, adding the custom Ferric Grey metallic exterior mirror caps, M Sport Braking System or the Variable Sports Steering with Servotronic Function.

Inside, the cabin is also tweaking the M signature, including the cloth/Alcantara sports seats with blue contrast stitching, the M leather steering wheel or the M driver`s footrest.

The lists of upgrades also include the powertrain department, meaning that the M140i is now packing a more powerful 3.0-liter TwinScroll Turbo engine, with a good 340 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, which is enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, when hooked to a six-speed manual transmission and 4.6 seconds with the optional eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.

In terms of fuel consumption, the 2016 BMW 1-Series M40i is reported to burn out between 7.1L/100 km and 7.8L/100 km, depending on the transmission.

Australia: 2017 BMW 1-Series Lineup – Full Prices Unveiled

The all-new 2017 BMW 1-Series is now available in Australia, the facelift model being offered in four versions: the 118i at $36,900, the 120i at $41,900, the 125i at 48,900, and the top of the line M140i at $64,900. Considering the list of standard features, it is pretty safe to state that this is the most affordable model lineup in Australia.

Even if we are dealing here with the smallest Series from the entire range, all versions prove to be extremely powerful and fuel-efficient.

In terms of design, the 120i and the 125i come with LED fog lights, adding the 18-inch M sport alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, variable sports steering and standard eight-speed auto or six-speed manual transmission.

Under the hood, the same 120 and 125i come with a 2.0-liter turbo flat-four engine, with 135 kW and 270 Nm of torque, in the entry-level version, with a fuel consumption of 5.8L/100 km and 7.2 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

On the other hand, the 125i develops 165 kW and 310 Nm of torque, and delivers a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds. This lad here burns out an impressive 5.9L/100 km.

The top of the line 2018 BMW 1-Series M140i packs a higher 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, with 250 kW and 500 Nm of torque, enough to reeach 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. However, the higher output makes it even more fuel-efficient, meaning 7.1/100 km.

BMW M135i vs Honda Civic Type R in Drag Race

It is not every day we get to see a BMW M135i version taking on the Honda Civic Type R in a drag race.

Both cars are rather equal in terms of performance and aerodynamics, but the FWD and the RWD might make the difference in the fight.

But before watching the video with the drag race between our two contestants, let`s see some of the performance figures that each one comes with.

First off, the BMW M135i is packed with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder inline unit, which produces 326 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, enough to reach 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds. The manual transmission sends the power to the rear axle.

Second, the Honda Civic Type R comes with a 2.0-liter VTEC engine, with 306 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is done in 5.7 seconds, at a topping of 250 km/h. All the power is sent to the front wheels.

So, we have two cars with rather the same power-to-weight ratios, but with a significant difference concerning the sprint. The M135i comes with a rear-wheel drive configuration, while the Civic Type R features a front-wheel drive one.

Before jumping into conclusions, just watch the video released by Evo magazine and then decide if the winner was just lucky or really deserved to win. Enjoy!

BMW M135i in Valencia Orange Gets Proper Attention at Abu Dhabi Dealership

BMW Abu Dhabi is currently the carmaker`s largest dealership in the world, with more than 150 exquisite models to be put for a display. The M135i has also joined the rest of the fleet and can now be admired wearing the gorgeous Valencia Orange.

As you probably know, the M135i may not be the fastest model from the 1-Series lineup, but even so, it does impress with an exquisite and aggressive design, which is just enough to be the preferred ride of young ladies who want a less extravagant feel behind the wheel.

This BMW M135i does enchant our fine tastes, sitting quietly in the showroom in its reddish tone which may appear darker or lighter depending on the daylight. Apart the color, there aren`t any mods to be carried out on the model`s body style.

Underneath the skin, this fine lad still uses the same 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, with 321 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, enough to deliver a 4.9 second sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. The power is sent to the rear axle via a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic.

There aren`t other important info about the model, so we`d better stick to the photo gallery that BMW Abu Dhabi has released online! Enjoy and feel free to express your opinion on the hot and exotic M135i!
