Drag races have become a common thing amongst drivers or auto magazines that want to test out hot rides and compare their performance on a straight line. The latest race was set out by Auto Express online magazine and involves the E84 BMW M4, the E92 BMW M3 and the Audi RS5. The performance figures of the three of them have been also provided at the end of the article.

But why not first have look at each car`s performance in order to place our bets on the best model. Even if the performance of a model may not reflect its true value on the track, it`s worth knowing its performance figures and compare it with other models.

The previous generation E92 BMW M3 is packing the famous 4.0-liter S65 V8 engine, with 420 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, allowing it 4.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h.

On the other hand, the E84 BMW M4 is taking its power from a 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged unit, with 425 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, hooked to a seven-speed DCT gearbox. This allows it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.

Last but not least, the Audi RS5 is coming with a massive 4.1-liter V8 engine, outputting 450 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque, sending the power to all wheels via a seven-speed gearbox. It takes only 4.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h.

In the drag race, the BMW M4 needed 14.03 seconds to finish, the E92 BMW M3 came third with 14.55 seconds, while the Audi RS5 won the race with just 19.95 seconds.

The BMW M4 was put face to face with its direct competitors, the Porsche Cayman PDK and the Audi RS5, a race which was set out by guys from AutoExpress.

We are talking about an embodiment of pure power as all three supercars have a lot to deliver, especially when there are also some similarities in terms of high performance.

Let`s take for instance the M4 and the RS5, which share the same dimensions, as well as rather the same power, with just 19 horsepower between the two of them.

On the other side, the drive layout is rather different, as the Audi RS5 stands on an all-wheel drive system, while the M4 remains the perfection of the BMW`s front-wheel drive layout.

The Cayman is somehow left behind, as it needs a little bit more performance to take out the BMW M4 and the Audi RS5, since the first one comes with a 7-speed DCT which makes it fly on the track, while the latter, the RS5 is tweaked with a 7-speed S-tronic DCT.

As you have imagined so far, the BMW M4 finally succeeded to overcome its toughest competitors, the Porsche Cayman PDK and the Audi RS5.
