BMW’s New York Auto Show stand was far from empty this year. The BMW X1 was there, the M5 was there along with the M6 variants and there was even talk of pricing.

The 6 Series Gran Coupe was also there and it is in quite the unusual spot. This has a lot to do with the other models there.

It’s not exactly glamorous or fast enough to keep up with the M Division products but it’s also not as affordable as the X1 CUV either.

The press release that comes alongside with the unveiling of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe includes full pricing disclosure.

Alongside the previously announced 640i GC model, we now know how much the V8 powerplants are going to be going for.

The BMW 650i Gran Coupe will come with a sticker price of $87.395 whereas the 650i xDrive all wheel drive version will come in at $90.395.

Both models are powered by the familiar twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8 which develops 450 horsepower and which is connected to the eight speed automatic gearbox.

The rear wheel drive version of the four door coupe will go from 0 to 62 in just 4.6 seconds while the xDrive version will make better use of the added traction and manage the same feat in 4.5 seconds.

The official market launch for the united states will take place in June for the 640i and the 650 versions will come in about a month later or so.

Next time round we’ll take a second look at the BMW X6 M and the presence of its facelift at the NY show.

BMW has decided to announce the pricing of their entry level version of the 2013 6 Series Gran Coupe and there’s a few question marks about it.

For as big fans as we can be of BMW and as much as we like the look and idea of the new 640i Gran Coupe, it seems a little high, really it does.

No more delays; the 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe will start at $76.895 and we’ll need to run through the plus points to see if its worth it.

For the purpose of fairness let’s avoid our bias towards BMW and really look at the facts.

We get off to a bad start as the main rival, the Mercedes CLS will get you a V8 for 5.000 dollars less and the Audi A7 is a whopping 17.000 less.

You can see the original worries, but then the new 6 Series Gran Coupe fights back. Of all the rivals it has, it is the roomiest.

Not only does this awesome provide ample space for four passengers, you could even take a small kid along with you as the 4+1 layout dictates.

Then, we get to the engines, of all the 6 cylinder engines in this range, the 640i comes with the most powerful one of the lot and it’s a straight six to make for even finer smoothness.

We expect efficiency to come out on top as well when all figures come in. Finally, there’s the party piece of the BMW.

Unlike the rest of the rivals, it has the finest origins. We’re looking at a four door coupe that was spun off a proper GT car; it’s not a tarted up sedan or a watered down performance machine.

In the end, is it worth it? I’d say it is, but nobody would’ve been sad to see it come to the market a little cheaper.

Long in the woodwork, considered to be late to the market by many and now it’s finally here. Ladies and gentlemen; meet the 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe.

As we’ve been knowing for some time now, the Gran Coupe is a four door version of the Bavarian company’s 6 Series Coupe.

The new 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is quite the interesting machine. Then again all its rivals in this market are quite capable creations.

To begin with, the 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe will become available in early 2012, in entry-level 640i form.

That’s the version that’s powered by the N55 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged straight six cylinder engine which has an output of 315 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.

Later on in the day a twin-turbocharged 4.4 liter V8 with around 445 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque will be available in the BMW 650i Gran Coupe.

As is befitting on any modern day luxury car, the xDrive four wheel drive system will be an option to those not very fond of RWD only.

Also, the transmission is one of the proper sort for the segment, the ZF eight speed automatic option is the only one you get.

In terms of looks, the BMW 6 Series fans and owners will be in definite familiar territory as, apart from the 4.4 inches of extra length, there’s not that much between them.

No performance figures on the 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe were published, no price was announced and no sales expectations have been uttered so far.
