Today we will get a closer look to the all-new BMW 3 Series (F30), the sixth generation of the German model which had been revealed few days ago. In terms of engine choices, BMW offers a total of four engines with different outputs and performance. The entry-level petrol engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 horses and 350 Nm of torque. It is available for the BMW 328i and provides a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5,9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

Thanks to the EfficientDynamics technology, it manages to return an average fuel consumption of 6,4 liters/100 km. The new BMW 335i gets a more powerful inline-six unit with 306 horses and 400 Nm of torque for a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5,5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The average fuel economy of the model is between 7,2 and 7,9 liters/100 km.

If you want to obtain the best fuel consumption you will have to opt for the diesel engines with outputs ranging from 163 horsepower for the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics to 184 horses for the standard 320d. The latter manages to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7,5 seconds returning a fuel consumption of just 4,5 liters/100 km.

The figures are even better for the EfficientDynamics model which returns a fuel economy of 4,1 liters/100 km and 109 g/km. BMW will offer three different trim levels, namely Sport Line, Modern Line and Luxury Line. The M Sport Package is also available and brings larger 19-inch alloy wheels, revised front and rear bumpers along new trim inside.

After a lot of speculations, spy photos and renderings, we finally see the sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series without any camouflage. The new BMW 3 Series is also known as F30 and comes to continue a successfully story written by the previous models, vehicles sold in more than 12 million units since 1975. In terms of dimensions, the new BMW 3 Series is slightly bigger than its predecessor with a 50 mm longer wheelbase for a total of 2,8 meters. According to the company, the increased dimensions will provide more legroom and headroom for the passengers.

The German engineers also managed to make the new 3 Series around 40 kilograms lighter which will slightly improve the performance.

At launch, the new BMW 3 Series F30 will be available with a total of four engines. We talk about two petrol and two diesel TwinPower turbocharged engines. The BMW 328i will get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit developing 240 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque while the 335i version benefits from a more powerful 306-horsepower unit.

On the other hand, there are two turbodiesel engines developing 163 horsepower for BMW 320d EfficientDynamics and the BMW 320d with 184 ponies. More details about the engine range, trim levels and pricing will be available soon.

The new BMW 3 Series sedan is undoubtedly very close to debut in front of the audience, new photos with the German model surfacing, this time, without any camouflage layers. Actually, the new BMW 3 Series (F30) is scheduled to enter production somewhere in November this year while it should see the model on streets next year. In terms of appearance, the new 3 Series generation showcases an evolved design with influences from the new 5 Series F10 generation.

The model pictured in this article is painted in Mineral Gray while the interior features a beige finish. These photos are not the official ones of course, but they help us to get an idea on the next-generation 3 Series.

Talking about engines, BMW most likely will reveal the new 3 Series initially with two choices, the 328i powered by a four-cylinder turbo unit and the 335i model benefiting from a more powerful six-cylinder turbo engine.

Even these photos are not revealing all the important details as they might be snatched from a brochure, expect to find more about the new BMW 3 Series (F30) in a short time, even before the official reveal later this year.

The Bavarians from BMW officially announced that the current 3 Series Sedan (E90) will be pulled out of production in October 2011. This decision mainly comes due to the fact that the next-generation 3 Series, known as F30, which has been surprised several times in spy photos, is expected to enter the market early next year, in the spring to be more precise.

The current BMW 3 Series entered the market six years ago, in 2005 and managed to obtain the “World Car of The Year” award at the New York Auto Show just one year later. The fifth generation 3 Series proved to be a very important model for the Bavarian company as, according to the official statements, the model summed almost 50% of the total sales in its debut year, 2005.

In terms of power, the new BMW 3 Series F30 will benefit from six and four-cylinder naturally aspirated and turbo units while the rumors include a brand-new three-cylinder unit. There are some assumptions for the new M3 too, BMW will be most likely quitting the current V8 in favor of a new six-cylinder twin-turbo engine rumored to produce somewhere near 450 horsepower.

BMW is currently selling the 335d in the U.S., the model in question being scheduled to exit the market earlier, in August. If we can’t tell you exactly what engines will be available under the bonnet of the new 3 Series F30, we certainly know that the new generation of the German model will benefits from an all-new modular platform. According to the first information, the current design philosophy adopted by the latest models such as the 5 Series F10 will be available for the new 3 Series as well. BMW are not planning to increase the size of the next-generation, therefore, there will not be any significant differences in terms of dimensions.

The interior will also evolve and enhance the high quality premium materials while fuel efficiency will be another key feature of the German model. More exactly, an optimized fuel consumption will be achieved thanks to a bunch of innovative systems such as brake energy regeneration, Start/Stop technology and a solar roof designed to produce energy for the interior. We can have a glimpse of the future generation 3 Series thanks to a rendering presented by Jon Sibal, a virtual representation of the model.
