Even if BMW defined the newly unveiled 2016 BMW 7-Series as the most luxurious and powerful within its class, there are still versions that haven’t received the best appreciation from the public, and that`s because they somehow lacked the rest of the lineup`s top features.

And one particular model that hasn’t been that much appreciated is the 750Li, with BMW purists releasing it from the flagship list. Even so, the model can be dressed out with M Performance Parts which might bring it closer to a high-end version.

And the example below is worthy of wearing the 7-Series badge, as it was recently put for display at BMW`s most prestigious dealership in Abu Dhabi.

The model is visibly striking from the start with the new Singapore Grey exterior colour and the 3D Design front spoiler, adding other features which makes it a genuine 7 Series model.

With the M Performance Parts, the exterior looks sportier than ever, especially with the 21-inch M Performance two-tone alloy wheels, M Performance Boot spoiler, M Performance Black Kidney Grilles, or the M side sills.

Inside, it feels more luxurious thanks to the wood inserts or the light brown leather configuration for the door panels, lower dashboard or the seats. Not to mention the M Performance Pedal set which also gives the cabin a distinctive and sportier look.

And no matter what other thinks, I still find this particular version extremely powerful for its high-class attitude. We are looking here at a V8 engine capable of delivering 445 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, and coming with a good acceleration, and that despite its massive body weight. We are looking here at just 4.5 seconds, which brings it closer to an M2 or M3.

The German based BMW carmaker has recently unveiled the 7-Series` 740e hybrid line-up ahead the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, which consists of three versions, the standard 740e, 740Le and the AWD 740Le xDrive.

All three versions will be fitted with the iPerformance configuration, which means that will add some additional goodies in terms of driving and safety features.

Inside, the 740e iPerformance lineup packs the same features as the rest of the 7-Series models, like wider touchscreen, gesture control functions, ConnectedDrive navigation system or smartphone integration with wireless integration.

Aside the base safety systems, all three 740e iPerformance versions will be fitted with the Driving Experience Control switch, consisting of four driving modes, like Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport and Adaptive.

Under the hood, the three plug-in hybrids come with a twin-turbocharged four-cylinder engine, hooked to an electric motor. The resulted 326 horsepower allows an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in a good 5.5 to 5.7 seconds.

In terms of fuel consumption, the 740e iPerformance is quite impressive: 2.1 – 2.3L / 100 km, with CO2 emission standards standing at 49 gram for every 100 km. The mile range is just 40 km for the standard 740e and 740L3 iPerformance, and 37 km for the AWD version.

The World Car Awards event is fast approaching and the 73 international automotive journalists have announced the finalists of the four categories.

First, in the World Luxury Car of the Year, there were five models announced, the all-new BMW 7-Series, Audi Q7, Mercedes GLE Coupe, Volvo XC90 and Jaguar XF.

The next category, which is the World Performance Car of the Year Award, include other hot finalists, like Audi R8, Honda Civic Type, Range Rover Sport SVR, Chevrolet Camaro and Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe.

Moving on to the World Green Car of the Year Award, BMW 330e was the first one to be nominated, but will have to engage in the battle against Toyota Mirai, Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Volt as well as Volkswagen Passat GTE.

The last category, the World Car Design of the Year, will also include the Mazda CX-3, Cadillac CT6, Mazda MX-5, Land Discovery Sport and Jaguar XE.

BMW 7-Series and BMW 330e have big chances to win their categories, but we cross our fingers until the event, which will open on the 24th of March, at the 2-16 New York Auto Show.

BMW is on a constant move with the development of its model lineup, the German carmaker announcing a lot of updates and improvements for some of its models, starting this spring.

Starting with the BMW 3-Series 325d Sedan and 325d Touring, both versions will gain the 2.0-liter diesel flat-four engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology, developing 224 horsepower. The Sedan comes with a 6.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, while the Touring adds 0.2 seconds for the same distance.

The BMW 4-Series 440i, the official replacement of the 340i, will receive the 3.0-liter flat-six engine, developing 326 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, hooked to a six-speed manual gearbox or the optional eight-speed automatic. The carmaker will also introduce the xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive, available at a higher price.

On the other hand, the BMW M4 GTS will add up some interesting body style features, like the M Carbon Compound wheels, along with CFRP or aluminum composites, which will make it seven kilos lighter.

The BMW 7-Series will keep the wheels spinning with the 740Li xDrive receiving a 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol burner, with 326 horsepower, enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. Other features refer to the Remote Control Parking, with self-parking in tight spaces or garages, without a driver behind the wheel.

The list continues with a new xDrive all-wheel version of the 2-Series Gran Tourer, Open Air Package for the 2-Series Convertible, 4-Series Convertible and BMW M4 Convertible.

A recent report issued via BMW Blog states that the 2016 BMW 7-Series might come with two V12 engines in the following years.

If you take a look at the luxury sedan`s engine lineup, we see two petrol engines, like the 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo flat-six, with 326 horsepower, equipping the 740i and 740 Li, as well as a higher 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 mill, with 450 horsepower, powering the 750i xDrive and 750 Li xDrive versions.

Apart these two powerful engines, the carmaker is also reported to fit the 2016 7-Series with a huge 6.6-liter V12 engine, taken from Rolls-Royce, with two power configurations: 600 horsepower in the future 760i and 760 Li and 600-plus-horsepower in the upcoming M760i, the latter one being regarded as the top of the line version from the entire 7-Series class.

The same report also mentions that both engines would come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. As expected, we might also see an xDrive version, along with a rear-wheel drive one. We should expect full details about the engines somewhere next year, when the carmaker would make the official announcements on that matter.

BMW is present at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show with some interesting models, like the recently previewed 2016 BMW M4 GTS, which occupies the stand with the new 2016 330e, 2016 X1 xDrive28i and the high-end 2016 BMW 7-Series.

BMW has presented the powertrains that these models are coming with once will hit their dealerships worldwide.

The 2016 BMW 330e packs a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo flat-six, which is backed by an electric motor through a 7.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. The hybrid powertrain develops 248 horsepower and 419 Nm of torque, enough to allow an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The range mile also stands at around 34 km. The model will reach showrooms next spring and will cost $44,695.

Next, the BMW 2016 X1 xDrive28i features the same 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine, with 228 horsepower and 349 Nm of torque. It is hooked to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends the power to all wheels. This particular model reaches 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The model is already available for sale from $35,795.

Last but not least, the 2016 BMW 7-Series comes with a choice at two engines at launch. We are dealing here with the 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo flat-six, in the 740i version, with 320 horsepower. On the other hand, the 750i packs a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 mill with 445 horsepower. The 740i costs at least $82,295, while the 750i is set at $95,395.

Based on the latest spy shots, the 2016 BMW 5-Series Sedan has been recently rendered online and might give us a closer look on how the model would look like, once it will be officially unveiled next year.

The two renderings are signed by RM Design and are showing us a 5-Series Sedan, the G30 version, resembling the newly unveiled 7-Series in terms of design. The cabin might also bring the two cars even closer.

The renderings are thus revealing a wider body style with common design cues, perhaps mounted on the same CLAR platform, also found on the new 7-Series. This means that it would make the model lighter and more powerful.

Inside the cabin, the 5-Series Sedan might also take its inspiration from the same 7-Series, which abounds with the latest technology in terms of driving capabilities. We might see, for example, a rather the same digital instrument cluster.

There are no news concerning the powertrains under the hood, but chances are we might see the same engine lineup carried over the present 5-Series.

After around seven months from its release next year, the German based carmaker will be also introducing the all-new G31 Touring model, also recently spied. More info will be announced at a later date, meanwhile enjoy the renderings with the upcoming 2016 BMW 5-Series!

As you already know, at the end of each year, famous US auto magazine Motor Trend launches the “Car of the Year” awards, an occasion which gathers the most important carmakers that have made their most important contribution to the auto industry.

There are three categories to be considered at the event, the “2016 Car of the Year”, “2016 Truck of the Year” and “2016 SUV of the Year”, all three coming with their own criteria and set of rules with regards to safety, efficiency, technology, performance and so on.

Most importantly, in the “2016 Car of the Year” category, which is the most important one, BMW 7-Series is placed second on the list, and has great chances of winning the award. The 7-Series will compete against Audi TT, which is placed the first, following Chevrolet Camaro, Honda Civic, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mercedes-AMG GT S and Toyota Mirai.

The 2016 BMW 7-Series unveiled last summer is making its way onto the Australian market, where the 730d entry-level will be available from $217,500.

The list continues with the 740i available at $224,200, the 740Li at $238,000, the 750i at $289,600 and the 750Li at $312.700. Both the 730d and 740i will go on sale this November, while the top of the line 750i versions will arrive at the beginning of next year.

In the engine department, the base 730d will be powered by a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline engine with 195 kW and 620 Nm of torque, with 6.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

The 2016 BMW 7-Series 740i versions will come with the 3.0-liter turbo petrol engine, but with a higher 240 kW and 450 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is done in 5.5 seconds in the 740i and 5.6 seconds in the 740Li.

The top 750i versions will feature a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 330 kW and 650 Nm of torque. Both the 750 and 750Li have an acceleration of 4.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

Apart the engine specifications, BMW Australia has also announced some styling cues, all 7-Series variants coming with a “Carbon Core” body, most of the parts compressing carbon fiber composites for increased driving capabilities.

Inside the cabin, the 2016 BMW 7-Series will abound with a lot of high-tech features, like Gesture Control, BMW Display Key for interactive screen and gestures, 3D surround-view camera, panorama view, voice control, active cruise control and more.

The race for the 2016 North American Car of the Year Awards has already started, with a lot of manufacturers to enlist their favorite models. BMW tops the list with its recently unveiled 2016 BMW 7-Series at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

There were 57 journalists from Canada and the United States to vote the “Short List” with the cars that would compete at the 2016 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year Awards. Each category initially contained as much as 15 cars, with the short lists now comprising 10 cars for North American Car of the Year Short List Awards, and 12 cars for the North American Truck/Utility of the Year Short List Awards. BMW has been voted the first model to compete in the first category.

In order to be eligible for the car of the year award, a car must accomplish several mandatory conditions: it must be a good seller, must come with some important modifications at the exterior, interior and under the hood, and must be driven at the Hell Creek Ranch, Hell, Michigan, by a number of journalists, starting October 13 to 15.

The list will compress to only three vehicles for each category, with both winners to be announced at the 2016 North American International Auto Show, next January.
