BMW has recently unveiled the 2015 BMW 3-Series facelift and the engineering department and chiefs are already thinking ahead at the 2018 3-Series model, which is set to be focusing on the driver`s needs and new technological enhancements.

However, when asked about what the 2018 BMW 3-Series would bring about, the bosses from BMW were rather reluctant towards revealing the real identity of the upcoming 3-Series, and that for a good reason, as the technological process involved takes time and many researches.

From a visual standpoint, the 2018 BMW 3-Series will still keep the overall shape carried out from the 2015 BMW 3-Series facelift, the German based carmaker being focused more on redesigning the entire architecture, that would allow the pure electric technology to set in, just like Volkswagen did with its MQB platform, which underpins the e-Golf and the GTE plug-in hybrid.

Apart from an electric architecture, BMW also plans to introduce the idea of an autonomous 3-Series, Voight, the CEO at BMW, stating that “When we believe it makes sense for the brand, and it fulfils the brand promise to our customers, we are going to strive for such assistance features. But it has to be consistent with the brand and the character of 3 Series.”

Even if the a driverless BMW 3-Series is still years ahead, let`s not forget that the carmaker is already working on technological improvements concerning that matter, improvements which are being tested on the big brother 7-Series.

The facelift version of the BMW 3-Series Sedan was spotted again during tests in Europe. The model started to drop camouflage, a clear sign that its debut is getting closer.

At the exterior, buyers should expect revised front and rear bumpers, new wheels, modified air intakes and other minor tweaks.

Interior improvements won’t be very impressive considering that this is not an entirely new model. However, expect revised materials, new trim and maybe a revised steering wheel. On the other hand, the engine range might benefit from some serious upgrades.

A new entry-level 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo engine might enter the range while a plug-in hybrid could be also an option. The latter will use a four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor.

Speaking of four-cylinder units, the current ones are expected to get upgraded in the new BMW 3-Series Sedan. Likewise, the six-cylinder powerplants could see some improvements for the 2015 BMW 3-Series Sedan facelift.

The facelifted BMW 3-Series was recently shot in spy photos by the spy photographers from the inautonews.com auto publication.

The Germans from BMW are now working on the 3-Series that was first launched in 2012, bringing in front some significant tweaks.

The 2015 BMW 3-Series caught on camera, comes with some new features at the exterior like full LED headlights, new bumper at the front and changed new air intakes.

The 2015 BMW 3-Series facelift will also come with three-cylinder petrol and diesel units. We are first talking about a 1.5-liter engine to be put on a series of cars in the near future like the new MINI, the 1-Series, the 2-Series, the 3- and the 4-Series.

More than that, the BMW German luxury manufacturer will also enhance the 1.5-liter engine on the 5-Sries or o the i8 Hybrid.
Inside, the BMW 3-Series facelift will also bare some changes inside, like a new driver assistance system and more comfort.

The facelifted BMW 3-Series will be launched perhaps in the second quarter of this year. It may not be a surprised if the car will be seen at the 2015 Paris Auto Show this October.
