The Germans from BMW announced their intentions to introduce the xDrive traction system on the new 6 Series generation. Therefore, the U.S. customers will be able to order the new BMW 6 Series with the all-wheel drive system, an alternative to the traditional rear-wheel drive system. According to the official details, the new BMW 6 Series xDrive will be available in both Coupe and Convertible body styles, the actual all-wheel drive system being priced at around $3,000.

This means that the BMW 650i Coupe is priced from $83,000 while the Convertible version is a little bit expensive starting at $90,500.

The Germans also claim that the all-wheel drive model sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,7 seconds for the Coupe and 4,8 seconds for the Convertible, slightly quicker than the current 6 Series RWD.

BMW also released few new details about the BMW 640i Coupe and Convertible, models that are going to enter the U.S. market soon. The model in question will get the 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine able to offer 315 horsepower and 447 Nm of torque. This enables an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,5 seconds and a top speed limited at 250 km/h.

After we got the first details and photos of the M Sport package designed for the new 6 Series generation, BMW released new information which announces that both the Coupe and Convertible variants of the German model will get the well-known xDrive system but also a new six-cylinder diesel unit. After BMW revealed the M Sport package which brings only styling tweaks, new details announce that an all-wheel drive version will enter the range alongside a new diesel unit, both of them by this fall.

To begin with, the Germans announced that you will be able to fit your new BMW 650i with the xDrive all-wheel drive system. The xDrive system will be optionally available for the model mentioned above, for both Coupe and Convertible variants.

The new BMW 650i comes with a turbocharged V8 unit able to deliver 407 horsepower, the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h being possible in 4,8 seconds for the Coupe while the Convertible needs an additional 0,1 seconds. Of course, the figures above are available for the new BMW 650i fitted with the xDrive system as the figures are a little bit different with the all-wheel drive system than the rear-wheel drive.

The xDrive system for the new BMW 6 Series will be available starting this fall, the same debut date being available for the new diesel unit we will talk about further. Therefore, BMW plans to add a new 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology to the current BMW 640d lineup. Of course, this unit will be available for both Coupe and Convertible models and is announced to deliver 313 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and 630 Nm of torque.

The BMW 640d Coupe fitted with the new diesel engine is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,5 seconds while the Convertible model is 0,1 seconds slower. The Bavarians were generous enough to release some fuel consumption figures as well, the Coupe version returning a fuel consumption of 5,5 liters/100 km while for the Convertible, BMW announced 5,7 liters/100 km and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km.

The Germans from BMW decided to reveal the M Sport package specially designed for the new-generation 6 Series. The styling package developed by the Bavarians will be available starting this fall for both the Coupe and Convertible variants. For the beginning, we will talk only about the M Sport package but we go in depth these days with further details as the Germans plan to upgrade the engine range of the current 6 Series generation but also introduce the xDrive system, a first for this range.

As expected, the 2012 BMW 6 Series the M Sport package brings just styling improvements including new 19-inch M alloy wheels in double-spoke design, new side skirts, revised front and rear bumpers and LED foglamps. The interior receives a special treatment as well with new an M leather steering wheel and new sports seats covered with leather and Alcantara.

Moreover, the BMW Individual range will allow you to customize the model even more with some extra exclusive paint finishes, new alloy wheels and more advanced styling options for the interior. Starting this autumn, BMW also plans to add new functions to the ConnectedDrive system of the current 6 Series generation. This means that a bunch of new features such as the Stop & Go function, Active Cruise Control, Collision Warning with braking function and the innovative Real-Time Traffic Information system will be available.

The new BMW 6 Series Coupe will benefit from a new Bang & Olufsen High End Surround Sound System with 16 speakers and a total output of 1,200 watts. The Convertible variant will get the same innovative audio system with 12 speakers and an output of 1,000 watts, both of the systems being fitted with the exclusive Acoustic Lens Technology.

With its official debut on the U.S. market later this year, the new BMW 6 Series Coupe, codenamed F12, is getting revealed by the Germans from BMW. At a glance, you see that the Bavarians opted for the famous shark nose, which is the prolonged front part if you are not common with the expression.

Obviously, the design of the new 6 Series Coupe has evolved and presents a more aggressive perspective. The new German model gets bi-xenon headlights while in the rear the model comes with a dual-pipe exhaust system, LED light and also a spoiler placed on the trunk lid.

Switching to the interior, the new BMW 6 Series Coupe is fitted with aluminum and wood trim, Dakota leather seats, a panoramic sunroof and other high quality materials stately for a premium coupe. A 10.2-inch GPS navigation system is also available alongside a Bang & Olufsen audio system and heated seats, but these are just on the optional list.

The new 6 Series Coupe offers a load capacity of 460 liters while inside you get a bunch of driver assist systems such as parking assist, rear-view and night vision camera but also the head-up display. The coupe version of the next-generation 6 Series, codenamed F12, was caught in these spy shots while was tested by the German drivers at BMW. The new 6 Series generation expected to enter the market somewhere in 2011 is based on the current BMW’s 5 Series F10 generation but got slighty bigger dimensions comparing to the actual generation that is about to make room for the model in photos.

The spied 6 Series F12 is still under serious camouflage so there are not any surprising details revealed, we can note only the two-pipe exhaust with a stylish shape.

There are also some rumors on the engine range that will be available for the future 6 Series generation, the model might receive the xDrive system, as the manufacturer showed the intention to introduce the xDrive all-wheel drive on more and more models. BMW Gran Coupe concept goes intro production. And yes, it is official! More exactly, the BMW’s design head, Klaus Draeger, made a statement, and according to it, the 2012 will be the year where the BMW’s Gran Coupe concept will take shape and the model’s production name will be 2012 BMW … 6 Series!

The BMW’s plant from Dingolfing from Germany will be the place where the 2012 BMW 6 Series will be made, following the model to debute at the Beijing Auto Show in 2012.

The convertible version was announced to debute in the same time with the sedan one, the soft-top roof being the solution for the convertible version. Talking about the engine range that will be available for the future 6 Series, we know that the Germans at BMW will start with four engines that will be available at the debute, two of them being diesel units. For now, mostly, these are the information on this regard.
