You can’t claim that the Germans from AC Schnitzer are unknown when it comes to tuning BMW models, thus, they prepared a new tuning kit for the 2011 BMW 5 Series F10. The tuning kit comes with an additional horsepower amount for the 530d version, aesthetic touches and improved handling.

Starting with the performance improvements, because in my opinion this is the start point when creating a tuning kit, the German tuner managed through ECU recalibration and a new evacuation system to increase the 530d’s hp amount by 41 horsepower reaching 286 horsepower.

The German tuner announced that the handling is better now thanks to new suspensions and a lowered ground clearance by 25 mm. The aesthetic improvements for the 5 Series F10 include a new front spoiler (you can’t miss it) with large air intakes, a chromed grille, a spoiler for the trunk and a set of side sills.

19 to 20-inch rims are available and the interior comes with carbon fiber elements found also on the new sports steering wheel. Here’s the first tuning kit for the new 5 Series F10 created by AC Schnitzer.

With the rising number of SUVs on the streets, you need a car that can whitstand an impact with such a vehicle without compromising the passenger’s safety especially since the possibility of rolling from a side impact. At least this was the thought on the mind of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or IIHS when the new 2011 BMW 5 Series Sedan was tested. See their conclusions bellow.

According to the Institute’s tests, the 5 Series performed incredibly well. In fact, it performed so well that it was awarded the Top Safety Pick, thus becoming the first model of the line of the bavarian manufacturer that received such an award. The members were especially impressed with the sedan’s side protection, as the test emulated an impact from SUVs and other large vehicles.

But in order to receive a Top Safety Pick, a car has to do more than that. So not only did the new BMW 5 Series shine in side crash protection tests, but also in front, rollover and rear crashes.

Tom Baloga, BMW Vice-President of Engineering thinks that the results of the Series 5 Sedan are something to be desired as a standard for all the other premium models in the market.

It’s pretty much common knowledge that diesel engines aren’t first on the list of preferences for the American market or the legislation that prevails in the United States of America.

However, more and more diesel engines manage to leap the Atlantic and land a place in the North American market. A perfect example would be how the 2011 BMW 5 series will be bringing in such an engine stateside.

Something about diesel engines made available on the F10 BMW 5 Series has been rumored along for quite some time now and for a few hours now it’s been a definite fact.

A BMW official has made the confirmation of a diesel variant while in an interview with Inside Line. While this is good news, as if diesels are to make into the U.S. they have to be excellent and these new generation of diesel engines BMW is offering are just that, the official wouldn’t dish out addition details, not even which engine will actually be available.

In order not to keep us completely blinded while waiting we do know that it will be one of the diesel engines available in Europe for the 2011 BMW 5 Series. Most experts would bet on the 535 d being the lucky entrant to the exclusive market as it’s 3 liter engine develops 245 horsepower and a maximum torque of 398 lb-ft.

Figures such as these push acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in 6.3 seconds and keep the car relentlessly pulling further until it reaches an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

Here we got a rendering photo with the 2011 BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase Sedan and I have to say that this is how I think is going to look the final product because the designer based it’s rendering photo on the spy shots probably and he realized how was going to look the final product.

It will come with a 3.0 liter six cylinder engine but there will also be a much powerful V8 turbocharged engine of 4.4 liters so you won’t have to fear that this is not going to get enough power, it will be very powerful.

I think you would also like to hear when is this 2011 BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase Sedan going to debut and I tell you that it is going to debut at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show that will happen in April so we have to wait less than a month for it.

Anyway, we forgot what’s more important than photos namely the videos and as you can see in the title we also have an official video from BMW with this new 2011 BMW 5 Series Touring.

Honestly I don’t really like the touring versions of any car but if I would have to choose the perfect touring car, I think this would be because it is also the newest one.

The 4.4 liter V8 won’t be available on the launch but there will be available a 2.0 liter inline-four and also another much powerful one of 3.0 liter inline-six. If you want to use such a car for long trips or as a car of you firm, I think you should choose a diesel one.

Well, talking about the design of the car, I prefer much more the normal 2011 BMW 5 Series. Why? Because this car was built to look like BMW X6 but the Sedan version, does not.

The new BMW 5 Series was scheduled to launch in 2010, 2011 or 2012. Now, it seems that 2011 is the most likely year for the release date.

BMW wants to change the V10 from the previous model with a turbo V8 which will be mounted on the 2011 BMW 5 Series. If everything goes according to plan, the new car will also be available in a hybrid version. The wheelbase will be modified, among other visible details. On a technical level, the 2011 BMW 5 Series will be equipped with a special night vision camera perfect for spotting pedestrians, sideview cameras and a head-up display.

Many people can’t wait to get their hands on the luxurious 2011 BMW 5 Series and we are just waiting for the official pictures and release date.
