The 2-Series Gran Tourer and Active Tourer are perhaps the last models from the German fleet not to receive any significant updates since their release on the market in 2014.

However, the Bavarian carmaker decided to release fresh updates for the 2018 editions earlier this year, with the models being officially presented during the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, this March. The updates refer to some visual enhancements and new technologies onboard.

Visually, the two models follow the company`s new design language, looking restyled with a wider body style with enhanced characteristics.

As we can depict from the impressive media gallery, the new 2018 2-Series Gran & Active Tourer wear larger front intakes, along with new headlights and taillights, as well as fresh LED fog lamps. The more aggressive look is also highlighted by the two exterior colours available, plus a choice of 16-, 17-, 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.

The minimalistic changes move to the interior. According to the German carmaker, the new models are set to be more driver-oriented, meaning a suit of technological gizmos, all configured in an updated cockpit with dual-screen layout.

The customers are also welcomed with new types of clothing, Alcantara and Daakota leather, as well as seat cushions which provide better feel, looks and comfort while being on the road.

In the engine department, the two models come with 221 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque (224 PS/165 kW and 284 lb-ft of torque), squeezed from a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine with an electric motor. The drivetrain is paired to a 7.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

Also, speaking of engine configuration, we are also dealing here with four-cylinder diesels with two turbochargers and petrol burners with particulate filter. These features visibly improve the MPV`s CO2 emissions and fuel consumptions.

BMW is once more trying to cope with the heavy demands on the Australian market by providing the best solutions for its customers. Besides the newly announced 1-Series LCI, the German based carmaker has also launched the 2017 2-Series LCI in the Land Down Under.

The 2017 BMW 2-Series LCI comprises three variants, both coupes and convertibles, with prices to start from $52,900 for the 220i Coupe and going all the way up to $85,800 for the M240i Convertible. Full prices are revealed below.

Visually, all variants come with LED fog lights, updated grilles and front bumper with fresh intakes, L-shape LED taillights and plenty of high-tech gizmos inside the cabin. The most important one refer to BMW`s iDrive 6 interface with many dedicated apps. The interior is also looking extremely luxurious with the Dakota leather and Alcantara upholstery.

Performance wise, the updated 2017 2-Series LCI is equipped with a 2.0-liter flat-four engine, with 125 kW and 185 kW, respectively, for the 220i and 230i. The top of the line M240i packs a 3.0-liter inline sixer with 250 kW and 500 Nm of torque. This means just 4.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

This summer is going to be extremely hot for BMW which has prepared an entire new fleet for launch, including the long-expected 1-Series, 3-Series and the recently previewed 2018 2-Series, coming both in the Coupe and Cabriolet.

The new philosophy that BMW has designed its models around is building bigger and more aerodynamics products, coming with the latest technology onboard and plenty of performance under the hood.

Scheduled to arrive in June, the all-new 2018 BMW 2-Series Coupe and Convertible follow the same line, both coming with updated design, the latest high-tech gadgetries and improved mechanics.

As we can see in the video presentation below, the all-new 2-Series is now coming with updated front-end with bi-LED headlights, wider kidney grille and more rounded air intakes, all increasing the aggressive look. Also, the rear end is highlighted by the single-piece rear lights with hallmark L-shape flowing into the flanks.

Also, the exterior colour palette includes Seaside Blue, Sunset Orange or Mediterranean Blue. You can find further details in the media gallery below.

The details inside are also more impressive, the cabin of the Coupe and Cabrio now coming with a more elegant yet sporty approach, highlighted by contrast stitching, high-gloss black surface for the center stack, leather seat upholstery, interior strips in aluminum or fine wood, high-gloss black panels with chrome accents and much more. The instrument panel is also tweaked with the latest onboard technology and “significantly enhances the cockpit’s quality feel.”

Under the hood, the 2018 BMW 2-Series is fitted with a wide range of three-, four- and six-cylinder engines, ranging from the 220i with 181 horsepower to the top of the line M2 Coupe with the same 375 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Following a series of spy photos with the upcoming BMW 2-Series Coupe last year, it was high-time we saw the Convertible variant as well in some new tests, just before arriving on the market sometime towards the end of 2017.

As we can see in the spy shots, the test mule is wearing a slight camouflage up front, revealing the new headlights, as well as around the rear. This indicates that the model will come with new front grille and more angular LED Daytime Running headlights, while the back will also get a freshly updated taillights with new graphics, and fascia. Otherwise, the model stays pretty much the same as the present model.

As for the car`s interior, even if we don’t have any photos, we might depict additional changes like new material on the dashboard and seats, the latest iDrive infotainment system, and a few more.

Setting to debut towards the end of the year, the new 2018 BMW 2-Series Convertible might also come with a front-wheel drive layout, which will make it the direct competitor of the new Audi A3 Sedan or Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.

BMW has been busy testing out, preparing and launching exquisite models all year long, but since there is plenty of action left until the end of the year, the German carmaker has one final act to attend, and that would be the 2016 L.A. Auto Show, where it will present the remaining models for this year.

We are looking here at a plethora of new models to be officially launched at the event, starting with 3-Series versions and ending up with the 7-Series. Alpina will also be present with its B7.

The carmaker`s model fleet for the show starts with the brand-new 2-Series 230i Coupe and Convertible, coming with a 2.0-liter engine; the 240i is also refreshed with a 3.0-liter petrol six-cylinder engine, developing 335 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.

On the other hand, the iPerformance version of the 330e, comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four engine paired to an electric motor, delivering an overall of 248 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. This model is set in the United States at a base price of $44,695.

Moving to the 7-Series range, there will be a particular model that will be standing out from the crowd, and that would be the 740e xDrive iPerformance, with a 2.0-liter flat-four turbo and an electric motor, developing 322 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The plug-in hybrid allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, at a topping of 225 km/h.

The X fleet comprises the X5 xDrive40e, this one also receiving a 2.0-liter and an electric motor as well, with a range of 23 km. On the other hand, the top of the line M760i xDrive packs a massive 12-cylinder engine with 610 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, and a sprint to 100 km/h in a mind-blowing 3.7 seconds.

Alpina fights back with the already announced B7, the hardcore version of the 7 Series packing a 4.4-liter eight-cylinder with 600 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, and a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. This model will cost in the U.S. around $137,995.

BMW has decided to add more hardcore parts to more models within its lineup, the first ones to receive the BMW M kit being the 2-, 3-, 4- and 7-Series models, and later on the all-new M3 and M4 versions.

Each M Performance kit comes with its own prices and features, according to the model involved.

Starting with the 2-Series, you could spend up to $1,450 for the M Performance kit, but you would get plenty of tweaks, like black kidney grilles, carbon fiber rear spoiler, M Performance decals on the side or custom front splitter.

Moving to the 3-Series, the kit comes handy at $1,640 and comprises most of the features also seen on the 2-Series. The BMW 4-Series is also decided to receive the package at $31,000, the model coming with carbon fiber splitter or blacked-out rear diffuser.

In case you own a BMW 4-Series Convertible, then you should know that you can upgrade your model with the new kit as well, meaning a $1,840 package with nice features, including black kidney grilles, carbon fiber mirror caps, black diffuser and the same M Performance decals.

The top of the line BMW M2 will not be left aside, the version also receiving carbon fiber elements on the new black kidney grilles, rear spoiler or exhaust tips. The M Performance kit is more expensive, meaning that you`ll have to through in $5,100. On the other side, the M3 and M4 are exclusively available with the M kit for $7,860, adding carbon fiber front splitters, carbon fiber exhaust system, mirror caps and so on.

Finally, the BMW 7-Series is also available with the new M kit, meaning M Performance front splitter, new wheels and so on, all for $7,235.

Following the news yesterday, according to which the BMW German based premium carmaker announced an array of body style, interior and powertrain upgrades for some of its important models, we have now news on the kind of the powertrains that would fit the 1-Series, the 2-Series, the 3-Series, the 4-Series, as well as the X5 model.

First off, the BMW 1-Series 118i will come with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit, developing 136 horsepower, hooked to a manual as well as an automatic transmission, while the 2-Series Coupe and Convertible will be packed by two diesels in the 218 d and 225d, meaning 150 horsepower and 224 horsepower as well. The convertible will also come with the M235i xDrive version, with 326 horsepower, for its six-cylinder unit.

Second, the BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer 216i version will pack a three-cylinder petrol engine with 102 horsepower, while the 214d will get the diesel three-cylinder, with 95 horsepower. The 220d will develop 190 horsepower, for the same three-cylinder unit.

The new BMW 2-Series Active Tourer has received its first unveil at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, with two fresh premiere changes like front-wheel drive and first MPV to be launched.

If we take a closer look at the pictures, the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer looks quite similar like the Ford B-Max, having an angular rear and back headlights resembling the new MINI, but being longer than the 1-Series.

The MPV will feature a five-seat version, with an extended 2-seat to be enhanced next year. The BMW Active Tourer has a split rear seats, allowing the possibility for its passengers to carry large objects between.

Apart from the entry-level, the model will also come in the SE, in the Sport, the Luxury and the M Sport trim levels, with the latter being launched in 2015.

As for the range of the engine, the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer will come with the 218i, being powered by a 3.0-liter petrol developing 136 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque.

Its colleague 225i xDrive, will sport a 2.0 petrol engine, developing 170 ponies, while the 218d Active Tourer will be sporting a turbocharged common rail diesel, generating a good 150 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque.

Finally, the BMW 2-Series will be complete with the 220i, the 216d, the 220d and the 220xDrive, November this year.

Australians can now stay in line to get their hands on one of the recently revealed BMW 2 Series lineup at the 2014 Montreal Auto Show for the base price of 50,000 AUD.

With the newly introduced BMW 2 Series on the Australian market at the base price of just 50,000 AUD, the German car manufacturer is trying to bring up some fresh spicy on the hot continent.

Thus, BMW is replacing the 1 Series Coupe with three versions of the 2 Series, namely the 220i, the 220d, and top of the line M235i.

You can get the cheapest 220i at the price aforementioned, since the car comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, used on the X1, X3, 3 Series and 5 Series as well, developing 135 kW and 270 Nm of torque.

On the other hand, the 220d Coupe diesel comes at the price of 52,500 AUD, being equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and 135 kW and a great 380 Nm of torque.

The top of the line M235i Coupe takes its power from a 3.0-liter engine inline six-cylinder engine, outputting 240 kW and 450 Nm of torque.

The M235i hits the 0 to 100km/h sprint in only 4.8 seconds, with 7.5L of fuel for each of the 100km.
